"Come on, I don't want to be late."
One certain afternoon in the middle of Mizu no Kuni, with Fuku lugging around Samehada on his back. Today was one of those days where there was a mission to be done and Fuku was dragging along a Genin with him. Not by his own accord of course but merely the word of the acting Mizukage. Luck of the draw gave him Yasui, Iku. In one hand, Fuku held a letter.
To whomever this may concern, it has come to our attention that a man named Hidari Yōkō has acquired land in Mizu no Kuni and has turned desolate land into prosperous farmland. The sheer amount of land and produce he is said to have inherited and creating is enormous and could pose a massive fincancial gain for Kirigakure if we were to attain more intimate relations with this man. Yōkō is already paying his taxes and all amounts of money but the net profit he will eventually be making could create a large turnover from Kirigakure.
Take note that this man is also notorious in Kaze no Kuni for some unknown illegal activity and we are unsure of if this farmland is being used as a guise for something more sinister. Your job will be to either create relations with this man, while finding if there is any illegal activity going on. If the latter is found, Yōkō is to be eliminated. Here is a picture for reference.
-Mizukage Assistant
[/right] At least it was easy to find the man who actually looked more like a boy than anything. Was this person no older than eighteen? It was hitting past one 'o clock now and Fuku wiped some sweat off his brow. They had been trekking to the far south of Mizu no Kuni's island, where it had previously been well known for it's terra formed jungle turned into dead swampland. Fuku was stuck with the girl who asked question after question after question after question and frankly, Fuku was being drove insane. Not that he wasn't already, but it was a nice change to be drove insane by someone else. "Any day now, Iku-chan." [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true]she looks like a teenage anthem she looks like she used to be happy with the girl inside she looks so bored sometimes and she has that super pale skin and those soft green eyes she looks like she could have been happy in a better life i tell myself the same damn thing everything will be alright -- Iku was super excited for the mission she was going on today. It was a B-Rank, which meant there was supposed to be some combat and fun stuff like that - but they were really just supposed to talk to this vegetable guy and make sure he wasn't doing anything illegal. So unless the guy was being a sneaky little bastard, there wouldn't be much of anything going on. But hey! It was still a B-Rank mission, it had really good pay, the jonin she was tagging along with was Samehada guy (whose name she should probably figure out one of these days), and with the pay they were going to get, she would be able to afford to purchase a sword of her very own.
Samehada guy, as she was going to continue to call him (probably even after she figured out his name), was going to see a different side of her from what he had seen that one day, when she had finally found Kuro after he had been avoiding her and Samehada guy just kind of happened to be there. First of all, she was going to try to ask him less questions, because it was no fun being stuck on a mission with someone who was pissed off at you for being annoying. Plus, it was sometime after meeting the swordsman that she had decided to start taking her training more seriously. The biggest part of that - in her mind, anyway - was no more fancy dresses, no more fussing with her hair, and no more makeup when she was going on a mission. So she was just wearing a shirt and knee-length shorts and her hair was tied into a messy ponytail - she hadn't even bothered trying to braid it.
When she was going all-out on the hair and makeup and everything she had often arrived late, but not this time! ...at least, she didn't think she was late. "Hi, Samehada guy~ And hi to Samehada too!" She was actually more fond of the sword than the man - because apparently the sword liked her, and it had scared the shit out of Kuro. "My name is Fuku. Not Samehada guy."
Sure, Samehada was a part of his life now but before that when Fuku was just a swordsman with a Katana, he was alone- seperate. He didn't like being regarded as a couple to something only in his life as of a year ago. As she came into Fuku's focus, he noticed her lack of make-up. Good idea. But not for this mission it isn't.
"Sort yourself out first and make yourself look nice. We have to go as if prepared for Business, not for a fight." Fuku didn't say it in a mean tone, but more of a soft one with the underlying subtext of 'get on with it' Fuku sat himself down until she would sort herself out. Plunging Samehada into the ground for him to lean against, while he spoke.
"There's a farmer who is going to be making some serious coin, the first thing I was going to tackle is actually meeting this man and analysing him, from there We'll make an appropriate course of action. For this level of Terra-forming for this landscape I'm going to assume he's a Jōnin and has either the Suiton or Doton element. Keep that in mind.
Fuku was in fact straining himself somewhat. He wasn't exactly someone who went on B-ranked missions. That, and he was one of the Seven Swordsman of the Mist- of the wielder of Samehada, a civil barbarian known through the Shinobi countries for their savage and ruthless behaviour. He was sure that this man would be apprehensive about meeting him. Fuku was curretly surveying the landscape, searching it for anything interesting- the actual surroundings, little nichés he could use if everything went to shit. They weren't far now anywho.
"Okay, let's go."

"Eh, Fuku, Samehada guy, what's the difference, really?" She cracked a grin. "But I guess you'd prefer Fuku, so..." The girl didn't offer her own name - she was sure the swordsman already knew it. And even if he didn't, well, he probably didn't care much either. She was also pretty sure that he didn't really like her, since she'd been on the receiving end of the coldest glare he could give her recently. Over Kuro, nonetheless.
Iku's eyes narrowed when the man told her to 'make herself look nice.' Was he trying to suggest that without all the makeup and glam, she was ugly? Please. She had inherited her sister's share of beauty, as was quite clear to see. Her father had to have been pretty damn attractive, because she sure didn't get her beautiful face and gorgeous hair from her plain old mother. Hmmph. The genin removed her ponytail holder and fluffed out her hair until it was back in its full wavy glory - or as close as she could get it without a mirror or any of her products. And, being who she was, of course she had a compact and some blush and eye shadow tucked away in her pockets. She had said she wouldn't spent forty-five minutes doing her makeup before missions, but she had never claimed to have sworn off it completely. You never knew when you were going to need some emergency makeup. It took her a few minutes to fix her face, and after she deemed it acceptable, she snapped the compact shut and shoved everything back in her pockets. "Hmmph. Am I pretty enough for you now?"
Iku had listened to everything he'd said, even though she had been busy with her makeup while he was talking. "So he's a jonin turned farmer or whatever. What do you think is the chance he's up to no good?" She paused for a moment. "I hope he's not doing anything illegal. It's better for us and the village that way." Okay, so maybe she was a little nervous, considering that Fuku thought the guy was a jonin and she didn't have anything but taijutsu at the moment. Of course, with the swordsman there, it wasn't likely she would have to do anything but watch, but still... words: 403 tags: fuku notes: 773/4500 lyrics: amphetamine by everclear credit: akemi of btn |

He was going to put out this mission one way or another. Fuku wasn't kept waiting long which was nice for him. He didn't like to be held up when this was a small time mission and one that was purely diplomatic with a possible side action of violence. Not that it mattered. As Iku spoke, Fuku chuckled slightly. "Try harder next time." and that was supposed to be a little bit of a burn. Fuku did quite like how her hair flicked around, though. Fuku thought about her next question for a moment before responding.
"To be honest with you, I don't think there is a large chance there will be illegal activity. At most, he or somebody else could be hiding illegally growing drugs in certain areas of their large crop fields." there was little finishing touches that Fuku had to apply for himself- he was a Swordsman of the mist and he would dress as such. So he only took a semi-formal approach, removing his bandages and adding a more formal shirt.
Finally they were on their way properly. This was good news. Fuku could see the place they needed to be in the distance- a assortment of greens and browns where these new crops had been growing. People were at work. Lots of them at it too. "Come take a look." While at the moment he didn't see anything suspicious, you could never be too careful.
He didn't have much faith in the girl though. He hadn't seen what she could do yet and until she actually did something, there would be no faith from Fuku. He didn't even know what art she practised- she seemed more of a genjutsu user. Compulsion and obsessiveness and all that. That, and the tendancy to muck people around.

Iku narrowed her eyes and glared at him. "Oh, you can be so rude!" He was so in for it - someday... when she could punch him and not get her ass totally kicked. Or when she could actually punch him and he wouldn't block, rather. She had a feeling that day was a long ways away - no way was a genin anywhere near the level of power of one of the Seven Swordsmen, no matter how awesome she was.
"Good. So.. if he is growing drugs, do we, like, confiscate them and tell him to stop smoking, or what?" Iku didn't exactly have much diplomatic skill - she was much better at pissing people off than helping with stuff like this. "..now that I think about it, I think I'll just let you do the talking once we get there. In case you haven't noticed, I'm not exactly the, uh, most well-spoken of people." The genin grinned at him. "I'd probably end up doing more harm than good, y'know."
She was thinking about asking 'well, what happens if he's doing something really bad?' but she figured that would be tempting fate a little too much for her tastes. Not that she didn't want action - it's just... she wanted action she could handle. Maybe some regular old bandits or something. But, uh, not a jonin. With no ninjutsu or genjutsu to speak of, and without a weapon to use, she had a couple of taijutsu moves and that was all - any respectable jonin would probably just kind of laugh at her. Hell, even a more well-rounded genin would laugh at her about that. It was pretty damn embarrassing - seriously, she couldn't even walk up trees with chakra. Even Sherbet Head could do that.
"So, uh, you're pretty damn good with Samehada, right?" she asked nervously. "Not that I doubt that you're awesome or anything. It's just... bukijutsu is my forte and, as you can see, I kind of don't have a weapon right now so..." Something Fuku would learn quickly was that Iku talked even more than she usually did when she was nervous. What fun. words: 372 tags: fuku notes: 1145/4500 lyrics: amphetamine by everclear credit: akemi of btn |

She'd learn one day, what it meant to be a shinobi. Fuku nodded. It would be wise for him to do the talking but like any good businessmen, this man would probably talk to her as well- to detect any foulplay. It would be something Fuku would do- trying to lever the more inexperienced person into making a mistake. Fuku sighed.
"If he's growing drugs, we kill him. Anything illegal, we kill him. As of now, someone like this can be replaced with a more trusted Shinobi or civilian. Either way, we're leaving with this farm in our hands." She will learn, unfortunately. This world is not a nice place, and I would have preferred being on some sort of world in comparison to this.
"What I'm going to show you is why people fear me." he fished out a cloak from his belongings, and held it at his side- the other grabbed Samehada. "On my missions I don't usually play nice with people. I smell fishy things with this, so I'm going to go in like I usually do." Fuku was in front of her when Iku had said about Bukijutsu- Fuku physically stopped for a moment and turned, giving her an incredulous look.
"Wouldn't have pegged you for the type." he said, turning back. That's not bad. I guess. Maybe she'll learn something. he walked and placed his bag at a tree stump, and turned to Face Iku- he held onto Samehada with his other hand, and showing his other palm to Iku. He then replaced the grip, before something... odd began to happen.
Samehada began to sink into his skin- completely. With the more that Samehada began to meld into him- his features began changing. His skin began to take on an Ash grey colour, eyes becoming more... Sharklike. However, his face shape only slightly changed- more like... a Shark. But he had no fins. Not yet anyway.
Samehada dissapeared completely, leaving back a more Shark-like human. "This, Yasui Iku-chan is our secret." and that was spoke sternly. His hand came to his Katanaa, pulled it from his sash and threw the sword to her gently for her to catch. "You'll do better with that."
He wasn't going to tell her that he couldn't do Ninjutsu though, that was far off just yet. But there was one problem, he knew that he was going to get a new plethora of questions from the girl.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true]she looks like a teenage anthem she looks like she used to be happy with the girl inside she looks so bored sometimes and she has that super pale skin and those soft green eyes she looks like she could have been happy in a better life i tell myself the same damn thing everything will be alright -- "Oh." Iku said quietly. She hadn't expected that - dragging him back to the village to go to jail, threatening him, or even just kicking him off the land, maybe - but not killing him even for the slightest offense. Well, it wasn't like the guy hadn't already used up his second chance, right? He'd done something illegal in some other country, too - the girl didn't remember which one - so if they did anything less than kill him, he'd probably just go somewhere else and set up his farm as a front and go back to doing whatever illegal thing he was doing. So it did make sense - but it still didn't sit well with the girl.
She was intrigued - he was going to show her the real reason people feared him? It wasn't enough that he was one of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, the wielder of Samehada, one of the coolest swords ever, but he also had another fearsome ability? Wow.
Iku grinned at him. "I'm pretty good with a sword and a staff, actually - I know I don't seem like that kind of person, but I'm stronger than I look. And you can't deny that kenjutsu is one of the best fields a shinobi, especially from the Mist, can study." And honestly, even if her stupid twin hadn't ruined her staff, she would've switched - she wouldn't tell the man, but it had actually been meeting him and Samehada that set her firmly on the path to becoming a swordsman herself. It was something every genin from Kiri thought about at least once - being a member of the Seven Swordsmen was one of the highest honors you could receive. It meant that you were one of the best of the best, something so hard to attain. Iku and her sister had both decided that their true callings laid elsewhere - and Kazue might have been satisfied with her scythe, but bojutsu had lost most of its allure for the prettier twin.
Her jaw dropped when she saw what Fuku had done - he and Samehada had sort of.. combined? Fused together temporarily? Something like that. "I - what - you just - that's so cool." It was rare that Iku lost her capability to speak in full sentences, but the swordsman had just gone shark. That was cause enough to leave her speechless. "Yeah. Our secret. How did you - oh, I'll just ask you later." They were on a mission, after all - it probably wasn't a good idea to pester him needlessly.
Her tossed the katana to her, and she was so surprised, she barely managed to catch it. Iku very nearly squealed with happiness, but managed to keep it in at the last second - that would be kind of unprofessional. "You're the best, Fuku! Thanks." She was as happy as a child in a candy store. words: 492 tags: fuku notes: 1673/4500 lyrics: amphetamine by everclear credit: akemi of btn |

--- The change was befitting for one of Kirigakure's most renowned swordsmen. "See, not many people know about this change. I usually take this form on a mission so people just assume I look like this. They think my swordsmanship is from that Katana there, not from a sentient weapon." Fuku took this time to grab the cloak he had gotten, and put it on around him- hood coming up. On the back of it, was the kanji symbolizing 'Ken no Mizu' in a white circle.
Now they were ready to go. Fuku nodded for her to begin walking down a long winded path that would take them to their destination. It was not long before they reached ground that started clearing out and had more of a human-esque landscape to it. Things did not look natural.
He looked at the paper again just to memorize any last minute features. People could change their look fairly easily so it was mainly the concern of finding any distinguishable marks- like a mole or birth mark. There were none- his skin was flawless. Except he had striking blue eyes. That was the easiest way to identify him- except clever people like this usually had different color contacts in.
the latter is found, Yōkō is to be eliminated. Here is a picture for reference.
-Mizukage Assistant
[/right] Fuku could see the first lot of people now. They had immediately stopped working, and one nodded to another- and one of them run off. The other began to come closer. "Fuku-sama?" Fuku himself nodded from underneath the cloak. His hand came out- long spindling shark fingers, ashen grey hands. "I am him. This is my subordinate." from underneath the cloak, Fuku could see who it was. "Yōkō-san? I thought you'd be doing more important work, not tending to your crops?" it was not coming out in a rude way, but Yōkō gave a chuckle. "It wouldn't do to stay in an office and not help, Fuku-san. Now, please, Fuku-san; may you drop the cloak so I may see one of Kirigakure's finest?"And so Fuku obliged, by dropping his hood and revealing his ashen shark like features- the workers around could do nothing but gawp at Fuku's shark-like features. Yōkō on the other hand, his head tilted as if mesmerized. "Interesting, Fuku-san. Did your father fuck a shark?" Fuku's look hardened, and Yōkō stumbled on his words, finding something professional to say. "I'm sorry, Fuku-sama, I am horrible at breaking the tension, my humour is very dry." and so he stood up straight, his hand pointing over to some of the barns and standing buildings. "We have much to talk about." His eyes flickered over to the girl for a minute, studied her then back into Fuku's eyes- before turning and beginning to walk with Fuku. I'll note the -sama you little prick. Ignorant man. Fuku thought as they were walking. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]

Kind of." Surely it wasn't a majority of people that thought that - she couldn't be the only one to see him as he usually was in the village and then merged with the sword later, so it didn't make much sense that not many people would know about it... Eh, maybe he was just really good at pretending. That was probably it. But, uh, she wasn't going to bring up that idea - even though he was pretty nice, he likely still had a temper that she didn't want to be on the receiving end of.
Iku followed the swordsman down the winding path, taking in the surrounding area. She wasn't really sure what to look for - or even if there would be anything out in the open like that - but dammit, she was going to look anyway. You never know, she might accidentally see something that could be important - of course, it was just as likely that she'd see nothing but crops and crops and more crops and still crops. And people tending to those crops. Or hell, half of it could be drugs or whatever - but she didn't know what any illegal drugs looked like, so... The girl sighed. She wasn't going to be much help at all - except maybe to distract people so Fuku could sniff around, if that was even necessary.
Fuku greeted one of the workers - and it turned out to be the main man himself. Hm. Well, for an old (to her) farmer guy, he was pretty attractive. Nice face, at the very least. Iku smiled and waved at the guy - Youkou - when the swordsman introduced her as his subordinate. "Nice to meet you."
The two men chatted for a while, and though Iku wanted to interject - especially when the guy made that crude comment about Fuku's parents, which honestly sounded a lot like something she would say - she kept her mouth shut. Her tendency to talk too much probably wasn't going to come in handy, because she'd probably end up saying something she wasn't supposed to say. Ehe... She'd just be seen and not heard and follow Fuku's lead. She did not want to screw this up. words: 381 tags: fuku notes: 2054/4500 lyrics: amphetamine by everclear credit: akemi of btn |

Fuku had decided that this man was one that of a crude nature Yoko led them into a barn- it was renovated and open- concrete flooring, a whole bunch of desks lined up nicely, and at the very end was a larger desk- much more lascivious. There were no rooms- just chairs and people working. Fuku was immediately on it. "What paperwork do you need to do out here? Why the need for so many staff?" Yōkō didn't so much blink an eye, nor even turn around when he spoke. "We have a lot of things to keep in check of- making sure everything grows all year around, the financial side of it mainly, and all legal documents to cover our asses." he spoke, hands gesturing around at the various desks before he stopped at his one, turned and leaned on it- crossing his arms.
Nicely rehearsed, Yōkō. Fuku was only getting more suspicious by the minute. Fuku laughed himself- though it didn't sound much like a laugh. Due to the vastly different physique; it came out more as a guttural growl and patted Yōkō's back. Not too much, Samehada. he siphoned a small amount of chakra from the boy.
He hasn't got a lot of chakra... I felt a little echo from his chakra basin. He's been using some chakra, so he's definitely a ninja and for what reason...? Yōkō seemed to notice Fuku's thinking face and crudely interrupted him.
"Is there something that concerns you, Fuku-san?" Fuku nodded. "I'd very much like it if you could drop the guards, before I decapitate you." Fuku spoke calmly. A small smirk appeared on Yōkō's face, his eyes flicking over to Iku's then Fuku's. "You are very sharp, Fuku-san. Very well. You must understand my reasons. though." Fuku nodded. "The last thing you want is to be took advantage of."
Yōkō seemed to gesture from thin air, and suddenly- people appeared. Fuku looked over at some of them. "Your Kakuremino no Jutsu needs sharpening. That was a poor attempt to blend with the colours of this barn." he wasn't being pointed, but goddamn it was pretty obvious. Fuku began to walk around the desk, and sat in Yōkō's seat. "I'm assuming you have the contract." the younger man nodded. "I would like to see it, please."

No crude jokes, no comments about how soft the guy's hair looked - she made a mental note, that if they didn't have to kill him, she should ask him what sort of product he used - not even any simple conversation. Fuku was questioning him, and he seemed willing enough to answer - it wouldn't be appropriate to interrupt when it was going pretty well without her interjecting.
They stopped at Youkou's desk, and Iku's gaze wandered - checking out the modernized barn office, looking at the other people this guy had working for him - if there were illegal goings-on, would all the rest of these people have to die too? - and discreetly looking at the headers of the papers on Youkou's desk that she could see. Everything appeared to be... well, normal. Like a proper business, not a front for growing drugs or whatever. Of course, there were probably some things she hadn't noticed, or didn't know the significance of...
And one of those things was the Kakuremino no Jutsu that had been used to cover the guards. She'd noticed that part of the barn's walls had looked a little different, but had assumed that it just needed repainting or something. Iku hadn't thought it was a technique at all - a potentially dangerous oversight. Well, she would just have to work on being more observant - thinking beyond the obvious. Stuff like that.
Fuku was talking about the contract or whatever, and the genin's attention was beginning to wander - Iku wasn't exactly known for having an attention span of any decent length - and she started looking around again. Not wanting to make it obvious that she was snooping, she didn't go and hover around the other desks or anything, just stood behind Fuku, leaned against the wall, and let her gaze wander. words: 326 tags: fuku notes: 2380/4500 lyrics: amphetamine by everclear credit: akemi of btn |

Paperwork, the bane of Fuku's existence. He was never the person to do this crap. While Yōkō had gone to fetch the paperwork, Fuku looked around. His men were now back at their desks, albeit working slowly and keeping more their eyes on the shark looking man than their own work. Fuku gave a huff. Waiting wasn't his strong suit for such a mission like this- a diplomatic one. It seemed things were going to be slowing down for this particular day and Fuku hated it. He would've started daydreaming himself if not for his tail being uncomfortable. Agh, screw it. Fuku took his hood off- revealing his crip shark like body and tail out the back of him. Noticing it was close to hitting Iku, Fuku got his tail and wrapped it around his own waist.
"I'm not used to being in small spaces. It feels more comfortable being out." he mumbled at Iku. He crossed his arms- looking at the other people who were clearly doing a bad job of their own work. Yōkō swiftly returned, bringing with him a binded document. Unwinding it, he placed it on the table, to which Fuku placed both of his hands flat onto the desk, hunched over it. Yōkō's face seemed to be one of concentration, "Now, the contract isn't directly between the two of us so you'll need to take it away back to Kirigaku-" Fuku put his hand up, gesturing for him to stop. "I'm looking at it here, and provided it has the just terms I will be signing it myself." Yōkō's own eyes seemed to dislike the way Fuku was speaking to him, but continued. "- right. So..." he opened up the document.
You should've been expecting that, I'm only one of the SSM... looking over it, Fuku strained his eyes a little. "Iku. Job for you. Read through this and see if you can see any clauses, use this highlighter and highlight the main points." Fuku would've grinned, but decided against it- he would take her space where she was leaning when she got to it. Yōkō seemed to hop upon this opportunity to speak to the girl.
"So... Iku-san, is it? How old are you? I mean, you must be pretty skilled to be took on a mission like this." he gave a beaming smile to the girl. Fuku kept his mouth shut but a small amount of killing intent began to leak into the room, while Fuku looked nonchalant you could see some of his men getting a little bit sketchy.
"Tha-t's the famous killing intent of the Swordsmen of the Mist. Interesting. But I have no intention of bedding this seemingly lovely girl. You can calm down." at what started off quite weak started becoming more strong. Was this guy up to something? Fuku couldn't be sure. Fuku didn't say anything, leaving Iku and Yōkō to talk. Fuku would allow her to speak, until she said something stupid- to which he would take over again. Agh, fuck Samehada! Samehada took a large chunk of Fuku's chakra, while it didn't really matter since Fuku couldn't use jutsu, it would hinder his physical prowess a little bit. He wouldn't start feeling it until some serious action. You greedy little fuck. Samehada was docile. But seemed to give a gargle of what seemed to be like- 'I don't give a fuck, Fuku.'
There were no people who had large chakra reserves- but that wasn't to say that some of these people weren't deadly. "Yōkō-san, you sure are talktive." Fuku's eyes brushed against Yōkō's own, hard grey met a brilliant blue. "I'm nervous, Fuku-san. I'm on the verge of becoming a millionaire- I'm sketchy because I don't want anything to go wrong." Fuku shrugged. "Ah. Also, a couple of questions if you will. What crops are you producing, are you setting up trade routes with other countries and how old are you?"
"Why, I never took you for the talking type, let alone a swordsman of the mist who can sit and have a chat without putting his hands to his balls or his sword. I'm nineteen. Also, I'm trying to set up trade routes with Hi no Kuni, since they're pretty much the closest. I'm also looking at expanding over into Kaminari no Kuni as well."
[/color] He began walking around to the other side of the desk- pointing to a map to the right of Fuku, highlighting the trade-routes, Fuku could see there were some quite obvious routes highlighted- certain slipstreams in the oceans to get into the other countries quickly. But they were dangerous . While they were no real cause of concern- nor was it suspicious since as far as Fuku concerned- it was all about the money and he could understand that. Yōkō continued "I'm growing a variety of all season crops, so I'll be producing something all year around. I'm also trying to set up hydroponic fields and warehouses to produce more of our specialized stock- IF they turn out to be popular. It's like a grapefruit, but it's got an intense shelf life. A bit tough on the outside, though." "Wait- is this a new kind of fruit you're producing?" "Why, good of you to notice. Yes. Yes I am."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true]she looks like a teenage anthem she looks like she used to be happy with the girl inside she looks so bored sometimes and she has that super pale skin and those soft green eyes she looks like she could have been happy in a better life i tell myself the same damn thing everything will be alright -- Fuku was beginning to look a little antsy, which didn't really surprise Iku. He was one of the Swordsmen, and they weren't exactly known for their diplomacy or their ability to be quiet and calm and not slaughter everything in sight. Even though he was the 'civil savage,' as she had heard him called once before, this mission couldn't be much fun for him. Hell, even she was going a little stir crazy due to the lack of any action, even though talking was something the girl generally enjoyed (and did far too much of), so she couldn't imagine how annoyed he must be. Iku was used to not seeing any action on her missions - hell, the most exciting thing to ever happen on a D-Rank mission was an old lady baking her cookies, or having to chase around a stupid exotic bird for four hours. And she'd been on.. maybe two or three C-Ranks at the most? And none of those had been all that exciting - she'd gotten to whack a guy with her old quarterstaff a couple times, including once right in the nuts (he'd screamed like a little girl), but that was about it. The girl had imagined that a B-Rank would have stepped it up a couple of levels, but no - probably the most exciting thing about this one would be finding out what hair product Youkou used.
She hurriedly stifled a giggle when the man nearly whacked her with his tail - it was kind of funny looking, not that she would ever say that out loud. Fuku would probably take his katana back and chop her head off if she did. And she liked her head being attached to her body. Actually, if he really wanted to punish her for any comments she made... The swordsman knew how much she cared about her appearance. He'd probably do something horrible like chop off all her gorgeous hair, something that would devastate her. If anyone ever did that to her, god, she would bawl. Her poor hair... Even the thought made her sick to her stomach, and she ran her hands through her ivory locks, just to make sure it was all still there, and sighed with relief. Not that it could have gone anywhere without her noticing... Hopefully, Fuku hadn't noticed her momentary hair panic - he would surely make fun of her for it later on.
"Hm?" She had spaced out again, petting her precious hair like one would pet a cat. "Oh, okay." Reading through the contract didn't sound like the most exciting job in the world, but hey - it was better than just standing there and staring off into space, imagining what the man would do to her hair if she pissed him off. Besides, she was pretty good at stuff like this - she'd gotten a prize from her academy sensei for having the most organized and thorough notes in the whole class - so reading through a contract and highlighting the important bits was an easy job for the girl. Not that she really wanted to read all the legal nonsense it contained... Oh well. She swapped places with the man and got to work... only to be interrupted by Youkou.
"I'm thirteen." she answered, tapping the capped highlighter on the contract. "And I'm still just a genin. No one's properly realized how awesome I am yet, you see." Her lofty tone made it sound like she had an overinflated ego - and to be fair, she kind of did. But she was egotistical mostly about her appearance and the like, not her shinobi skills. Not that she was going to tell Youkou that she was nothing special, just another amateur swordsman with hardly any other skills to go on. He didn't need to know that, after all. Iku was pretty sure that telling him about her shinobi skills didn't count as saying something stupid - but that didn't mean she was going to prattle on about it.
She shivered as Fuku's killing intent began to leak into the room. But why? Surely not because of anything Youkou had said... it was just an innocent question, wasn't it? A dark blush colored her face when the farmer spoke again, however - oh. Well. That was pretty damn awkward. Had the swordsman really thought...? "Well, I should hope not." she muttered under breath, willing the blush to fade away. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to want to listen. "I mean, I know I'm gorgeous - but I have a boyfriend~ And you're kind of old for me. No offense." She grinned at the man, and he chuckled.
Fuku began to speak to the man again, so Iku got started reading the contract. Legal terminology was a pain in the ass - especially because she didn't know what all of it meant, and kind of had to use context clues to figure it out sometimes. Stupid legal stuff. Every once in a while, she'd come across something important, uncap the highlighter, and mark it with the ugly neon yellow ink before moving on. After struggling through the first few pages, it became a little easier to understand the legalese, and so the work went a bit faster.
She was trying to listen to the conversation as well, and looked up when she heard 'new kind of fruit.' "You're really making a new kind of fruit? Wow, that's got to be pretty tough." She didn't really know much about fruit, or engineering new species of things or whatever it was he was going, but she imagined it took a lot of trial and error and frustration before he got anything usable. "Is it a hybrid species, like a grapefruit crossed with another fruit, or something completely new that you've engineered from grapefruits?" And, most importantly... "Does it taste good? I think grapefruits are kind of nasty, even if you dump a bunch of sugar or whatever on them. Ooh, could you make one kind of fruit taste like a different kind? Like a grapefruit that tastes like an apple? That would be cool." words: 1041 tags: fuku notes: 3421/4500 lyrics: amphetamine by everclear credit: akemi of btn |

Fuku was actually very intruiged at how the man as capable of doing such a thing. He didn't seem that smart, anyway. or maybe it was a guise. Fuku stayed quiet, and beginning to look over Iku's shoulder as she highlighted the paper- Whatever.
"I'd like to see it. Secondly, how have you gone about creating this apparent hybrid grapefruit?" Fuku shook his head. "Never would I thought I would see the day that I'd be on a mission negotiating over grapefruit." Yōkō smiled, obviously thinking something about Fuku's antsy behaviour. He knew that he could annoy the swordsman to no end and for now, Fuku could do nothing about it. "Some of my late father's friends are well into the medicine field. They've only went and applied chakra properties to the grapefruit, and some other stuff. And Iku-san, I do believe we've cross engineered this from a harder species of coconut, or something like that." Fuku brought up his hand - "Are you telling me you don't actually know that much about this super fruit of yours? I'm certain Kirigakure doesn't want to hear 'I do believe' they want to hear 'I know'. At the moment, I find it hard to believe you a capable person of running this organisation."
Yōkō's lips pursed together a little more- obviously not the reaction he wanted nor expected. He didn't answer Iku's suggestion of taste-engineering and just continued on with talking with Fuku- the more dangerous of the two. "I have thought about that. When Kirigakure told me you were coming I had some... leverage acquired for me." and nodded over to one of the men. One of them gave a couple of gestures- and Yōkō nodded- he dissapeared. "By the way, what happened to that man from earlier?" Fuku only rang of suspicion now.
"He went off to do some work, and the man I just sent off is retrieving something for me." Fuku stayed quiet. Seeing that Iku looked to be done Fuku looked over the contract himself, "So... you want to have eighty percent of all money made for the first three years, and the other twenty for other other subsidiaries, with Kirigakure for a total of twelve percent that after three years rises to twenty five? This is unacceptable." Yōkō seemed to have a rehearsed answer for this- and replied. "But unfortunately, I've wracked up an amount of debt, I know this is a miraculous breakthrough- provided there were wars, this could provide the necessary deposit that could prevent hyperinflation of the economy due to short stocks of food."
Fuku stayed quiet for the entire thing. This boy needed to be shut up. "Firstly, Kirigakure is going to be having a minimum of thirty percent. Not twelve or by any other godly number. You forget that this is the land of Mizu no Kuni. You will have to abide by our rules. Secondly, I want a tour of this farm- including where all these crops are and any buildings. Thirdly-" his tail came undone, and came to rest on the table, next to Yōkō. "- You forget that you are replaceable. I could easily kill you here." This seemed to be the physical action that Yōkō's subordinates were looking for, and seemed to stop what they were doing and turned- ready to fight.
Yōkō stayed quiet. He wasn't quite sure what to say. "I suggest all of you to go back to what you were doing. You misunderstand your positions and my ability as a swordsman of the mist. I could slaughter all of you before you even blink." right now, Fuku's killing intent was bursting out- a subservient intent of murder- it was not the raw malice in the intent that was scary. Fuku was more portraying the sheer amount of people he had slaughtered, rather than HOW he had killed them. It showed the people who had fell by his hand and blade. Killing Experience. Fuku placed a reassuring hand on Iku- who would have never felt anything like this and break her from the stupor of Fuku's Killing Intent.
Some of Fuku's more innate bruteness was showing. Deep down, Fuku wasn't among the nicest of people. There was only one person who didn't seem that bothered- that was Yōkō- who could definitely feel it, but was able to shrug it off a little better. "T-there will be no need to resort to violence Fuku-sama, please if you would follow me I'll take you on a tour to your hearts content and we can negotiate further among the way." Yōkō seemed to be tripping over his own words now, and Fuku dropped the intent- a sudden pressure in the atmosphere had lightened, and people could breathe again.
Fuku nodded, and Yōkō gestured for them to leave- albeit a little weakly. Fuku picked up the document on the desk and they made their way back outside.
