All the options presented by Masumi were both effective and presented a healthy risk to both themselves and the hostage. Granted, the two would easily be able to hold their own, but if one of the kidnappers got antsy and acted irrationally the girl may have lost her life. While he normally didn't care for such things, the girl's life was the mission so this had to be done carefully. While the Jounin would have enjoyed more time to think things through these were the times that made shinobi earn their rank and pay. Either of the two options would have worked but now the decision came to whether to involve one or both of them. Since Taichi was better at close combat he would be better suited for impersonating a guard and getting in close, with the Chunin providing ranged back up if necessary.
"We'll go with the second option. I'll wait until one of them takes a piss break, get the jump on them then chum it up with the other guards for a bit. I'll give the signal for you to come out." The orders were clear and concise, no need for mindless chatter that would only further muddle an already delicate situation. Luckily it would only be a few minutes before one of the guards had to take such a break and he split off from the group to relieve himself. Moving with speed and silence the Jounin was upon the man before he knew what had hit him. A rather bland character he was, average height, dark skin and eyes and a medium sized scar on his left cheek.
It took Taichi only a moment to perform the transformation technique and copy the mans appearance to a t. Now came the infiltration. Making his way out of the brush the now transformed Taichi returned next to the man who he saw his target talking to. He would need to find a way to transition into getting Masumi out in the open without drawing too much suspicion. After all, most of these men were probably hired hands so adding another to the fray couldn't have been that difficult. "Hey, got a new person that I want the bosses to meet. Add some more fire power for us, y'know?" He said, and immediately the other man's eyebrow raised in confusion. "Just in case Iwa sends some people to come find this girl, y'know? Need as many bodies as we can get." That did the trick, and the other guard nodded in approval.
Raising a hand, Taichi would signal for Masumi to break her hiding position. Assuming this plan worked, the two of them would get a great vantage point to the layout of the shack and where exactly the girl was. Taking out the two main kidnappers would be the easy part, but sneaking out with the girl would definitely prove a challenge. However, this was not yet the time to worry about such matters. They still had to convince these current guards not to try and kill Masumi on the spot.

Always was one with a lack of reserves, unlike Kuru who could go on for days with techniques, his fight usually boiled down to seconds, albeit that was all he truly needed, but it was a definitive problem that arose over his life-time. Such as now, a jounin of his caliber, or shinobi that is, should not be nearly exhausted by performing some basic techniques, even if the sharingan genjutsu was exhaustive, in terms of his current reserves, but again, he never really needed long to complete a desired mission.
To go back on more immediate revelations, his mission was getting more complex. His attempt at finding the other individual was fall short as the guy seemly missed his rotation, but then his eyes caught a glimpse of two individuals talking, and immediately his sharingan went ablaze from a distance as he read their lips.
"Hey, got a new person that I want the bosses to meet. Add some more fire power for us, y'know?" Yep. More complex. However, Soura had his suspicion: Why would a guard on rotation suddenly stop to recruit a new individual? "Just in case Iwa sends some people to come find this girl, y'know? Need as many bodies as we can get. |
[/b]" His chakra viewing eyes immediately turned to the location of the two situated behind the bushes only to see a single chakra signature, and the other chakra signatures were weak - his, who he hadn't killed, and a another one who he hadn't even touched who chakra signature was waning due to unconsciousness. Another infiltration? So the guy is using a similar plan of his, but with two people and instead of dealing with the outside forces to gather information, go in for the direct kill. Then who were they? There were numerous possibilities, but the most likely is another group of mercenaries sent to capture the girl either to protect her or capture her for themselves. By the look of their plan, it would seem they were rather smart to infiltrate in such a manner, and that could contribute to being espionage training. His sharingan went inactive. He had already wasted enough chakra, might as well enter in with them and snatch the girl before either of them could notice, speed was why he had so much success in the ANBU. " Hey!" He called out, mimicking the voice of Kokou using the same transformation technique to make it more believable to the other patrons. " I'll take you to the boss." He looked towards the confused individual in the middle, " You, continue your rotation and switch with the others. I've already given them the notice, cause i needed to talk to him about increasing payment.[/b]" He guy raised a curious brow, and he was simply guessing they were getting paid due to their ignorance, and the shrugged and smiled all the same and went off. " He's over here. So who's the new recruit?[/b]" He made sure to stay beside the individual and pointed towards the direction with gestures, rather than staying in-front, which would be vulnerable to a sneak attack, which he wasn't willing to risk. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true] tell me i'm a part of history tell me i can have it all I'm over existing in limbo I'm over the myths and placebos I don't really mind if I just fade away "That is acceptable." Masumi paused for a moment, then gave him a serious stare. "Do not let your temper get in the way regardless of any comments they might happen to make." She felt it was a necessary warning - she had learned by now that Taichi was not as logical as she was, that he let his temper control him instead of controlling his temper - and irrational behavior such as that while impersonating someone else could ruin the whole plan, expose them for who they were, and would likely get the hostage killed. She observed Taichi's actions from her hiding spot, nodding with approval. A swift takedown of the guard and a practically flawless physical transformation. He hadn't managed to screw it up yet - and, ever the realist, the chunin was definitely expecting something to go wrong. After all, this had been the easiest part of the plan by far. Now he had to convince the others that he was the guard, manage to get her access into the little camp, and retrieve the girl - all of which were easier said than done. However, he was better suited for that particular role than she was - her distinctive style and tone of speech would have given her away as an imposter immediately. While Taichi was approaching the others, Masumi used the Henge technique as well - she did not want to cast suspicion upon them because of her appearance. That being so, she conjured up a picture of an older version of herself - mid-twenties, with cropped black hair falling an inch below her chin, rougher features, a bit of a tan, and clothes befitting a mercenary rather than a classy shinobi. She approached the group upon seeing Taichi's signal, her usual apathetic expression on her face. "Hello." She didn't want to seem too polite - mercenaries weren't really known for their manners - and thus she was suppressing some of her usual mannerisms, which was annoying, but she didn't want to blow their cover. 337 words, doc i'm going to punch you, made by akemi of btn |

Taichi, now transformed into the bandit he had taken out a few moments prior, shifted his vision to the new sound that spoke out to him. He had just begun to turn towards the hideout when the other man came into view. This was slightly irritating because another person getting in the way was only going to make matters worse. If the situation called for fighting this would only be another body to take care of, or better yet more commotion. Fighting in such a small space while not trying to maim the captured girl was going to be difficult enough as is since he had to account for Masumi's whereabouts as well. Having such explosive talents wasn't suited for indoor combat.
Regardless, this new guy seemed to be just another money hungry scrub and chances were whoever was leading this operation would probably try and kill him for asking for more money. Amazing how the stupid could do your work for you. Before the Jounin could answer Masumi revealed herself from the bushes and spoke. She had transformed into what looked like an older version of herself, though that same monotone and lifeless voice and stayed the same; some things just couldn't be changed. "Not much of a talker, that one." As he had wanted to do earlier Taichi made his way toward the small abode that they had been using as a hideout. A couple knocks followed by opening the door revealed one of the two kidnappers standing in front of a table. He was a brawny man with shaggy auburn hair and a crooked smile. Noe too far behind him was the other kidnapper who was sitting in a chair next to a tied up individual, so there was the target.
"Whadd'ya want? How hard is it to just walk around an' keep watch yeh poozers?" He gnarled at who he thought was one of the hired hands. "Sorry boss, just wanted to introduce a new guy.. er, gal who could help us out, y'know? Just in case those Iwa punks start sending people." Taichi replied hoping that the same logic would work so aptly as it had moments before. "Ehh, more people? That's just another hand ta pay. What makes 'er so special, anyway?" If the Chunin was paying attention, which was likely, then this would have been her cue to take the lead. Though Taichi knew of Masumi's talents as a shinobi, listing any of those would have aroused suspicion, those these guys seemed dumb as a bag of potatoes anyway.

In the ANBU years, he was trained in the arts of espionage, impersonation, infiltration, assassinations, and none-questioning. Those tools have greatly helped him in the recent years, and it is currently helping him now. Over the last 10 minutes, he has perfectly analyzed individuals enough to copy down the personality and even body language, with the help of the sharingan, to give a perfect copy of an individual. Using this, he infiltrated the stronghold as a guard and has now even started uncovering the true reasons within this kidnapping. It was truly interesting. Back to the current, Soura was now walking beside the individuals who were hiding out, and one of which seemly took his own plan of action and transformed into another member. A good infiltration tactic, probably less fancy than what he did himself, seeing as how he probably eliminated anyone who was familiar enough to properly distinguish between the personality traits and speech mannerisms of the man beside him. That plan of action was very risky, as getting spotted simply by talking is enough, and with the assumption that all individuals guarding wasn't part of a group and just hired individuals seeing how coordinated they were with their routine. He most definitely saved their plan. Now they were approaching the house, and as they got near it, he made sure to step aside and let the first two enter before he did, where he placed two explosive tags at the top corner of the door, and the other one on the ground near the door. [South Wall] When he entered the door, he could see the girl tied up and so he analyzed the rooms entrances and exits. The two were engaged in a discussion while he was casing the layout and mapping it out in his mind, in case things went...ugly? So to speak. He stepped to the left, continued onwards till hitting the west wall, and there he slouched and leaned on the wall with his shoulder as if to relax. In truth, he was looking for the best possible angle to grab the girl and run with no casualties, fighting could only put the hostage in danger, and while they had their guard down, his plan was to use his speed to take them all out. However, he needed a distraction. That's where his previous action was before. " Sir, these guys are intruders." He put them on blast, walking towards the boss and the girl. He made sure to step on the far back of the west wall that was connected to the north wall. " They were hiding in the bushes and attempted to get close to us to take the girl, i think they set traps and killed our men." This was an excellent tactic, however, it was only supposed to be used to momentarily cause focus to go away from him and more to the reactions of their boss as his eyes daggered towards them. In that instance, he performed a handseal in secret, and before any of them could act, the explosions took place from behind anyone by the south entrance. In that moment, in the explosion and massive amount of dirt pick up by the ground explosion, he already had the girl in hand and rushed out through the smoking hole that was left by the explosion. " That was easy." His voice changed as did his appearance as he rushed towards the south. Was that all? Skills/Abilities Used: Techniques Used: - [Transformation Technique: Changed to Kokou Satoma]

She knew better than to list off any of her shinobi skills - the chunin didn't make a habit of being an idiot, after all - and so, after a moment of silence, the girl looked at the boss and spoke. "Extensive experience. I've never failed to carry out an objective. And I work cheap. One of the best, they say." Masumi didn't even bother trying to change her facial expression; it would just look incredibly awkward and probably arouse the boss's suspicions. "And, hell... If I get to fight Iwa shinobi, the bastards... I'm tempted to say I'll work for, eh, a quarter of what you're paying him." She gestured at Taichi. A little corruption of facts, a few flat-out lies - like the working cheap bit - and a little swearing for effect, and there. It was believable enough. If this boss was cheap enough, he'd accept the offer - and it wouldn't surprise her to see him fire someone else and use her to replace him, if he was really reluctant to part with his money. And then the man she'd been suspicious of proved her right by revealing their plan and blasting a hole in the wall, taking off with the girl. "You take care of the situation here." Masumi told her jonin partner, then ran off after the other many - probably a nukenin, she surmised. He definitely wasn't just a regular mercenary. In any case, she was better equipped to take care of the problem than Taichi. Her speed was unparalleled, after all. She dropped the Henge - it was no longer necessary - and sprinted towards the rogue. He was fast, but not fast enough. If not for the girl, she would have tried throwing kunai or shuriken at him, or perhaps using a technique. But it was no good if the girl was injured, so she'd just have to catch up with him the old-fashioned way. 381 words, going to punch soura now, made by akemi of btn |

Taichi's, well, the guy who he was transformed into eyes widened upon hearing the other bandit rat him and Masumi out. Hues darted from Sora to the leader of the kidnappers and saw that there was not going to be any way to try and undone what had been said. However, there would be no need for that as an explosion rocked house kicking up dirt and debris. The Jounin shielded his face but in so had not seen the man snatch the girl and leave. It wasn't until the Chunin spoke did the man truly figure out what had just taken place.
As Masumi left the Jounin knew that he would be tasked with taking care of not only the two kidnappers in the house, but also all of the hired hands that would surely come running to see what all the commotion was about. As there was no longer a risk of injuring the kidnapped girl it provided an opportunity for Taichi to let loose, and that he would. The two men were still dazed from the explosion and proved to be easy targets, with well placed blows to the head doing more than enough to knock them out cold. Other thugs began to rush in shortly after and as Taichi was still transformed he figured this would be a perfect chance to use his brain instead of just relying on his physique.
Since the house was still rather smoky the man used the cover to slip out of the man made hole in the wall and begin his chase. He had lost a bit of time but had faith that the Chunin would be able to slow down the other man enough for Taichi to catch up. Was that guy from a rival village, or had he just happened to stumble upon an opportunity? Either way, he was not going to get in the way of completing this mission. With a single seal Taichi released the transformation technique as he no longer saw a need for it. Between himself and Masumi they would outrun any of the bandits had they even been able to figure out which direction to go in the first place.

She was heavy. Wait. She was heavy! That's it. He figured out why they kidnapped her. It all made so much sense, so much fucking sense it was unbelievable. No ransom, why they were holding her against her will, everything. It just collided with a simple connection. This was bad. He could hear footsteps behind him, immediately noting someone's giving chase from behind, and running away from someone with a heavy package is perhaps suicide defined, but if they were trying to take her for the same reasons as those guys...wait...why would they? This girl wasn't important. Not enough to send skilled shinobi such as them, trained enough to take out enemies with such stealth and infiltrate an environment with such ease. They just couldn't be after her. Not for the same reason as those men.
He could hear the footsteps growing louder, he won't be capable of eluding them with her, and the speed at which they were gaining up on him far surpassed his own. He'll need his sharingan, albeit his chakra reserves were running low, he could use her as a shield, but that generic bad guy stuff is too pointless, and it'll also cause them to be more reluctant to let him leave. He didn't need a pursuit, he needed rest.
Sharingan, Awaken.
It came into existence in a fiery burst of chakra, he turned to see the figures moving slowly, but doing so caused him to move slower than normal. It was then that it caught his eye, the stitching on her cloth, Iwagakure's Symbol. It explained a lot, and albeit it could be a normal fashion statement, it was highly unlikely that she wasn't from Iwagakure's Shinobi force. Switching from movement to chakra visual clarity, he could see the other one not so far behind giving chase also. To think they would be this fast.
Sharingan, Recede.
He skidded across the rough terrain coming to a stop, careful with what was in his hands, the life of not one but two. Turned immediately, his face still guarded and his sharingan deactivated, he waited for their arrival. There were several things he wished not to occur: One, to be pursued further. Two, his identity and location exposed to the shinobi world. Three, a fight to take place with a girl like this in the middle of it. There was no need for casualty of battle, and if two were to occur, there was no guarantee that it won't happen.
"Shinobi no Iwa. Cease your pursuit." His words clear and in their direction. "I was hired by her mother," the girls sudden excited yelp interrupted his words, by her mother to capture her and free her from her captors, so i do not wish to engage in combat with officials of the state." He continued, addressing with respect for their position and with a hint of falsified fear. "She is pregnant." The girls excited yelp turned into a grunt of "How did he know?"
"I believe the father hired individuals to take her away from her family, so, when you report back to your mission, file a report for continued overseeing of her safety, until the end of her pregnancy terms." He explained and requested. With the fact of her being pregnant, he hoped they would be reluctant to engage even more, but he had a back-up plan if they were to, perhaps nasty in a sense, but needed as a safeguard.
"I am leaving now. Do not pursue." That was that. He was off, running east at his highest speed.
Sharingan, Awaken.
His eyes lite, turning around to see the chakra globs that were left behind. He hoped that was the end of it, hell, even if he did give her back to her mother, there's no guarantee it won't happen again, but with them, there was.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true] tell me i'm a part of history tell me i can have it all I'm over existing in limbo I'm over the myths and placebos I don't really mind if I just fade away It was easier to catch up with the fleeing rogue than she had anticipated. Surely the girl couldn't weigh that much, could she? Unless... Hm. It was a matter to ponder at a later time. Right now the most important thing was actually extricating the girl from this situation and, if necessary, disposing of the rogue. He came to a sudden halt after turning to look at her, for some strange reason. Masumi was able to slow her pace and approach him at normal walking speed. Of course, she was still more than ready to attack him if he showed any sign of aggression. The whole thing stank of suspicion to her, but if he intended to surrender the girl to her, then there was no need for violence to occur. Even though she was fairly sure she would be a match for him despite knowing nothing of his skills, and even though he might fetch a hefty bounty, it wasn't worth endangering the success of the mission to kill him. The mission always came first. "You are quite observant." she commented, brow raised. Listening to his explanation, the chunin found that the strange details regarding the mission made quite a bit more sense afterwards. This rogue, whoever he was, must have also had quite the mind for analysis. That was something that Masumi could respect. "Very well. I suppose I must thank you for ensuring that the client came to no harm. But you had best flee, and do so quickly, or I cannot guarantee your safety." It was a thinly veiled threat, yes - and one that she absolutely did not intend to follow through with. Best to let him think that two of Iwa's best would be coming after him, however; perhaps it would make him move a little faster. "Come, girl. We're going to get you back to the village soon enough." She beckoned for the client to follow her as she turned back to meet Taichi. Masumi had a feeling that this return trip was going to take an eternity. 348 words, 3275/4500, made by akemi of btn |

It had not taken too long for Taichi to catch up to the trio who had taken off a couple of moments before him though what he saw next was unexpected. Walking towards him were Masumi and the kidnapped girl, but simply those two. Had the other man been killed, or had he run like a coward? Fleeing with another person on one's back could slow them down considerably and added to Masumi's speed it had probably only been a matter of time until she caught up. Initial glance found them both to be in good shape though the now freed girl looked a bit worse for ware but the Jounin would have never guessed in a million years that it was because she was pregnant, just fatigued.
A nod was given to the Chunin as Taichi began to take a closer look at the other girl, and while it may have seemed a tad awkward this was a necessary step. Even though the other guy had fled there was a chance he left some kind of trap on her as it was obvious that he had some kind of shinobi training. A half decent inspection revealed an explosive note on the back of her shirt. A precaution it seemed, but a potentially deadly one had it not been caught. In one fluid motion the man peeled the note off of the girls back before crumpling it up and tossing it into some nearby shrubbery. Simple enough, and another quick once over yielded no other tricks or traps.
A sigh escaped Taichi's lips as he knew what was to come next: the long journey to return this woman back to her home. While he was perfectly capable of walking in silence, and knew that Masumi was as well, there was no telling how the girl would react to such a long trip. Was she chatty, was she bratty, possibly insane? They were some odd thoughts, possibly caused by the man wanting to lead a team of his own someday and pondering on the different personalities he could get matched up with. "Alright, let's get this over with." He spoke to the two before turning around and heading towards the direction of the girls house. Taichi would need a stiff drink after all of this was said and done.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true] tell me i'm a part of history tell me i can have it all I'm over existing in limbo I'm over the myths and placebos I don't really mind if I just fade away "As soon as he realized that we were shinobi from Iwagakure, he surrendered the girl and left." Masumi reported. "He was hired by the girl's mother to retrieve her. It is possible that her own father had her kidnapped due to her pregnancy and that led to the odd circumstances with no ransom and whatnot. Upon our return to the village, it would be wise to request a guard for her until he gives birth to prevent any more unforeseen... incidents." She had told him everything she'd learned from the strange rogue. Taichi could draw his own conclusions from there, if he wished. Ayumi's cheeks sported a heavy blush as the blond man inspected her. She didn't realize that he had been searching for traps until he pulled the explosive tag off her back. People were so horrible, she thought. Would that man really have blown her up if the shinobi pursued him? After the way those men had treated her, and what had happened to get her kidnapped in the first place... She couldn't say she doubted it. People would do anything for money. The rogue man would have gotten a hefty sum from her mother for returning her, and of course the shinobi were getting paid. Money made the world go round, and oh what a bitter world it was. Masumi nodded. "The pace will be slow. Do not expect to arrive back at the village in a timely manner... unless you would like to carry her? While our pace would still be slower than usual, it would provide quite the increase in speed compared to letting her walk." It didn't really even occur to the chunin that perhaps they should ask the girl what she wanted them to do. Her job was to get the client back to the village in one piece, not cater to her every whim. 318 words, 3593/4500, made by akemi of btn |

The words were confusing and honestly something that Taichi didn't want to deal with. Why would the mother hire some rogue after asking for assistance from the village? It made little sense and had the stench of politics smothered all over it. The Jounin rarely dabbled in the stuff and he preferred to just carry out missions given to him rather than delve into the deeper meaning, unless his well being was at stake, of course, though for the most part the man was just a good little puppet to be strung along by the higher ups, but if anyone would have said so they would be met with certain death. "If it's that important then see to it once we return." He replied, figuratively dumping the responsibility on Masumi. It wasn't out of laziness or incompetence but more so along the lines of not wanting to deal with the red tape that came with situations like these.
Once again the Chunin spoke but this time it was about getting back to the village quicker. The Jounin wasn't all that keen on carrying the extra weight and if that rogue decided to show his face again he would be in a bad position to assist, though the premise of speeding up this trek was one that the man could not ignore. He stopped for a moment to contemplate then lowered to a knee. "Get on." He spoke blandly. If this girl really was pregnant then he could only move so fast as to not harm the unborn child which would slow them down even more, so was it even worth the piggy back ride at all? Never the less, Taichi wanted this day to be over with and this seemed the best option to do so.
If/When the girl decided to hop on the Jounin would rise before bolting to a sprint. She was a bit heavier than imagined but nothing that the man could not handle. Years of physical training had put his body in peak condition so the added load of another individual was not much of a hindrance. Masumi had been correct after all, their pace had indeed increased substantially by this method but they were still quite a ways from the destination; this was going to be a long day, and if the girl decided to get motion sickness all of a sudden well... there was little guarantee of her immediate safety.

Masumi found it quite difficult to refrain from rolling her eyes at Taichi. Was he really so eager to shirk responsibility that he would shove off as much work as he could onto her? Given, she wasn't exactly your normal chunin who was hardly capable of getting to their job or destination with all their pieces intact. In actuality, she was probably more organized and responsible than most jonin were, so she supposed she couldn't blame him for putting the work on the more capable person. Well, actually, she could. It was his fault if he wasn't capable of remembering the pertinent details of a mission long enough to report them to the Tsuchikage. Masumi half expected him to complain about having to carry the girl, and if he had, she would have shut him up in an instant. Taichi had to have some sort of responsibility on this mission aside from escorting her to the destination and back. After all, it was she who had come up with the plan, she who decided how to implement it, she who chased the rogue shinobi to retrieve the target... All he had done was knock out a mercenary and transform into him - something she would have been just as capable of doing. And he had better believe that that would be spelled out in her mission report - not that she was trying to get the man in trouble or anything of the sort. It was just that she either needed to take these missions solo or do higher ranked missions with more competent partners. She had the skills and the intellect for it. But that was something to ponder about when they arrived back in Iwagakure. For the moment, she helped the girl situate herself on Taichi's back, and set off moments after the jonin did. It would be her job to make sure there was no pursuit - and if there was, it was her job to eliminate them. Not that that would be a problem. 342 words, 3935/4500, made by akemi of btn |

Most, if not all of the terrain around these parts looked about the same. Granted, it was rare to see the amount of shrubbery that they had come across but even so looking at nothing but bushes and trees after a while got boring and repetitive. So far the girl had not made any complaints and Taichi wanted it to stay that way and had little plans to accommodate any ridiculous request, though Masumi would probably break her silence and try and force him to. Her readiness to complete any and all tasks, while noble, could be annoying at times. That was part of the reason the Jounin had tasked her with dealing with the extraneous details of the mission, someone else could handle that stone like personality.
The other part, however, was because Taichi knew that the Chunin was more than capable of handling it. Granted, this would also help with her people skills which were lacking in more ways than one; couldn't have a future Jounin with speaking problems after all. So no, it wasn't laziness or incompetence on Taichi's part but his unofficial duty to make sure the next generation of ninja were capable.
While their pace had increased quite a bit the man had already grown bored of the speed at which they were traveling and wanted nothing more than to speed up and race back to the village. Unfortunately the girl, and her apparent baby, strapped to his back were preventing that. It wasn't that he couldn't go faster, but more along the lines that exposing a civilian to such speeds wasn't the best of ideas, though that didn't mean a gradual increase in speed wouldn't hurt; and that was exactly what Taichi began to do. Step by step he increased the pace at which he was running. Surely there wasn't any harm in a small but substantial increase, but if there was anyone who was going to have one it would no doubt be Masumi, the odd one she was.
