[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true]she looks like a teenage anthem she looks like she used to be happy with the girl inside she looks so bored sometimes and she has that super pale skin and those soft green eyes she looks like she could have been happy in a better life i tell myself the same damn thing everything will be alright -- Iku was up bright and early that morning. Not for any good reason - but because her sister had seen fit to dump a glass of ice cold water on her, claiming she was snoring and it was annoying. Iku would have punched her twin had the girl not run downstairs before she had the chance. Grumbling under her breath, the girl stumbled out of bed, grabbed the first thing she could out of her closet - technically, they were supposed to share it, but Iku's clothes took up the whole thing, so she considered it hers - and hurriedly changed, then headed into the bathroom to fix her hair. But then, of course, Kazue shouted up at her - told her to get her skinny ass downstairs because she had a mission. Iku swore loudly, gave up on trying to do anything with her hair and pulled it up into a ponytail, retrieved her ninjato and flew down the stairs. Her sister had left the paper with the mission details sitting on the kitchen table.
Iku looked at the time she was supposed to meet the jonin she was accompanying, and swore again. Either her mother had gotten the letter a while ago and just left it sitting there for her to find whenever she woke up, or the messengers were late again. She was probably going to end up a few minutes later anyway... Grabbing an apple out of the fruit bowl, Iku rushed out of the house. Fucking people.
And, of course, she was late - by about three minutes, but late nonetheless. She was sure that the jonin, Kiyomasa Okuma, wasn't going to be happy with her. After all, he was one of the Seven Swordsmen, right? And they didn't tend to be the nicest of people. From what she knew about them - not much - Fuku was considered one of the most civilized of the bunch, and he could still be a right asshole (and pretty damn scary if need be). This guy was probably like him... unless he was like Kubikiribouchou guy, whose name Iku had still not managed to figure out. That.. would suck balls.

I will be your deadman, With nothing but this blood on my hand.
Stuck in your wonderland
Sitting up on his roof was definitely part of his morning routine now. It was a lovely routine that allowed him to get to see some of the locals, watch out for rufians, and even polish his weapons, but mainly polish his weapons. Okuma enjoyed taking good care of his weapons. It made sure that none of them would fail him when it came time that he needed to use them against another shinobi. Hopefully someone that could even provide him with a challenge. Ah yes, that would be wonderful.
However he was interrupted. A chuunin landed on the roof next to him as if appearing out of thin air and handed him a sealed letter. Okuma didn't bother with asking him what it was for as he knew the man would vanish into thin air once more before he would ever get the chance. Instead he simply took a small kunai and carefully tore apart the seal before opening the letter. A mission, eh? Not bad, however, who was this Iku person? He didn't recall ever meeting a genin that was strong enough to pair with a swordsman before. Odd, perhaps this was some young lad with an aspiration to be one of the seven. Of course Okuma could be horribly wrong, but what were the chances of that?
Quickly collecting his belongings and anything he might require for the task at hand, Okuma would soon set out for the rendezvous location and manage to arrive there about five minutes before the designated time. However, by the time that the genin finally arrived, Okuma was already beginning to lose patience despite having been the one early. When he heard the voice ring out and turned to look, he was definitely met with a surprise.
He was oh so wrong.
It was HER! That white haired girl that had been with Fuku and Akido back on that day. But... but.... WHY WAS SHE HERE!? She couldn't be that Yasui Iku person, could she? No way no how! She was too... girly... Oh god what if some strong breeze blew past them on the mission? Okuma simply could not stand for this!'
But he would have to.
"You're Yasui Iku?" Oh course she was why else would she be here? "Don't sweat it. Your timing wasn't too bad. Messengers told me rather late as well." He shrugged, "Ah well, you likely know this from the messege but allow me to introduce myself anyway. I'm Kiyomasa Okuma the Kiba swordsman, pleasure to actually meet you." And with introductions hopefully out of the way, at long last, they would be off!

Really? Who else would she be? "No. I'm not Yasui Iku. I'm her evil twin Kazue." she answered in a deadpan tone, crossing her arms over her chest. "I came here to tell you I smothered her with a pillow while she was sleeping, so she can't go on a mission today." Then she grinned at him, obviously forgiving him for that silly question, and struck a pose - which was a little ridiculous, but hey, she was damn well allowed to be a little ridiculous sometimes. "Except Kazue's nowhere near as pretty as I am. She could never hope to pull off this look. Well, maybe in her dreams."
She wasn't dressed up or anything - no, she'd quit wearing dresses on missions - and was wearing a white short-sleeved shirt and black knee-length shorts, with her hair tied up in a ponytail and her ninjato strapped to her back. Not to mention she hadn't put much makeup on at all. Well, that just went to show you what her opinion of her brunette twin was. Not that she didn't have natural beauty.. it was just Kazue that didn't, so her habit of just dressing plainly and not wearing (or even owning) any makeup? It was totally not working out for her. Not that she'd listen...
"Nice to meet you, Okuma. You're pretty badass, what with the lightning swords and all." she said, referring to the way he had stopped the fight between the other two swordsmen. Well, it hadn't stopped them for long.. but it had still been awesome to see him appear out of nowhere, brandishing his lightning-covered blades to intercept the two men. "Do you have to break up fights like that a lot?" words: 305 tags: okuma notes: 670/3000 lyrics: amphetamine by everclear credit: akemi of btn |

Now that he actually got a decent look at her, she actually seemed to be alright for a girl. She didn't dress in any drastically dangerous way for a mission, in fact, she was quite tame. It seemed that she would be able to keep her lengthy ivory hair out of her face, and with shorts on she would definitely not have to worry about a strong breeze. Good.
Okuma nodded to her comments completely ignoring her sarcasm and chastise of her twin sister. Now that he thought about it, he actually did hear about a pair of twins that had graduated from the academy in recent years. Mostly about how their blood thirsty fights during their academy years had nearly killed each other on more than a few occasions. "Ah thanks," He folded his arms across his chest causing his trench coat to move a slight bit enough to reveal one of Kiba's handles.
"Usually its drunken brawls at the bar next to my house that I have to stop, so normally I don't get to use Kiba in the village. However, that fight the other day was out of hand. Just kinda wish Akido hadn't pushed his luck." He shook his head, "I swear our seniors think that they're all tough stuff, but still they don't realize that it'll be the younger generations that will surpass them some day." He spoke in a sort of general matter of fact tone meaning that he knew one day even he would be surpassed by a younger generation.
Pushing himself off of the building he was leaned against, Okuma looked towards the path ahead of the two of them, "Alright then, Iku, we should get going. Don't want to keep the client waiting." With that he began walking towards their destination where the small village would be with their client waiting for his body guards to protect him while he bridged the gap between two lands.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true]she looks like a teenage anthem she looks like she used to be happy with the girl inside she looks so bored sometimes and she has that super pale skin and those soft green eyes she looks like she could have been happy in a better life i tell myself the same damn thing everything will be alright -- If the most exciting fights this guy got on a regular basis were caused by drunken guys punching each other in a bar... Well, she supposed it was kind of a good thing? It meant that there wasn't really any pressing danger - from within the village, like with Akido, or from other villages or whatever. But it also meant that there were people with a lot of pent up energy, and that combined with anger issues or something similar... Kind of made for one hell of an event when they finally snapped, and not the kind she'd want to watch.
"Some people never grow up, do they?" It was more of a rhetorical question than one that actually needed an answer - since she knew that there were some people forever stuck in their youth, always thinking they're the best at everything, with that teenage mindset that no one will ever be able to beat them. Unfortunately, people like that did grow up - they didn't mature, but they grew up all the same - and she guessed Akido was one of them. "Was he always like that? Or was he just having, like, the shittiest day?" She had never met the man before that day - and, to be honest, she was kind of glad she hadn't. What if he'd decided, talking to her, to take out his repressed rage on her when there wasn't someone like Fuku lurking around to save the day? That would have been shitty.
She nodded, following after him. Although she would have liked to ask him a bunch of questions - mostly about the Swordsmen of the Mist, and for good reason - she figured this wasn't really the time or place. And she didn't know if he'd even let her ask questions, or if he'd tell her to shut up - either way, the girl decided it would be better to keep her mouth shut until they arrived at the destination. Maybe the bridge builder they had to protect would be a little more talkative than Okuma was. words: 350 tags: okuma notes: 1020/3000 lyrics: amphetamine by everclear credit: akemi of btn |

Okuma shrugged his shoulders at her question about people growing up. He know he certainly still acted like a kid at times, but that was usually only when he was trying to have fun, never when the situation called for him being serious. However, as the conversation turned towards the fallen swordsman Akido, Okuma shook his head, "To be honest, Akido was a decent man." He paused for a moment, almost as if giving him a moment of silence, "He hade been a swordsman long than me, so I guess he just let his experience and triumphs go to his head. I'm not sure what was going through his mind, but he certainly had picked a back fight." He shoved his hands into the pockets of his pants as he walked, "I won't say I'm sorry to see him go though. He certainly had his dick moments."
After he was finished speaking, a thick silence fell between the two. It remained there for quite a while as the two walked and as they reached the shop that marked the half way point on their trip about an hour later Okuma finally gave in with an exasperated sigh, "Alright I can't stand this silence anymore," he said immediately almost as though expecting it to spark some magnificent conversation between the two of them, of course though it likely wouldn't. "So Iku, tell me, what is your opinion on Fuku's actions the other day?" Okay that was a lame way of starting a conversation, but in all honesting Okuma couldn't think of anything else to say other than random shit like, 'Oh look at that bird, wasn't it really black?' or some other random shit like that.
Okuma was a horrible conversation starter.

But then she figured that Okuma obviously knew him better, since they were both Swordsmen of the Mist - or, well, had been, in Akido's case. Still, just because he had been in the group longest or whatever, that didn't give him the right to be a dick to everyone just because he could. After all, it was clear to see that he hadn't been the best swordsman after all, so it wasn't like he should have been bragging about how he was a god among men in the first place. "He got so pissed off for the stupidest reason. Like, all I did was ask him a question. I figured he'd turn around and answer me and I could talk to him, but he got all up in my face and told me I was an idiot. And then.. Well, you know."
After that they lapsed into a long silence. A really long silence. A silence so long that Iku felt like she was going to end up tearing her precious hair out before much longer. Yet she stayed silent, figuring that if he wanted a conversation, he'd start talking eventually. Considering that the last couple of times she'd gone on missions with jonin - excluding Fuku, of course, because he was pretty damn cool - she had gotten snapped at for talking.
The girl grinned when Okuma did finally speak up. "It was entirely unbearable, that silence." She wasn't really sure what he'd want to talk about - since she doubted he liked shopping, dresses, and teenage boys like she did... actually, she would be a little disturbed if he liked the latter, so perhaps that was for the better - but he'd surely come up with something, wouldn't he?
"Eh... Well. I don't really know. I'm sure it was for the better in the end, but I can't help but wonder if it was really the best course of action." Iku replied, brow furrowed. "I mean, it kind of seemed like Fuku was looking for an excuse to kill Akido anyway... He got really aggressive once Akido made the first move, you know? Like he had been waiting for that kind of opportunity. Not that I can blame him for that." She had wanted to punch Akido too, after all. Okay, so maybe bisecting a guy was a little different from breaking their nose, but it wasn't like that mattered now. "But hey, now you've got a better wielder for Kubikiribouchou - ehe, well, in the attitude department, anyway." She paused for a moment and looked over at him. Okuma sighed, "Yeah, I don't like long silences when I'm just simply walking with someone. It's just awkward y'know." He shrugged his shoulders. When Iku got around to giving him an answer as to what she though about Fuku's actions Okuma found himself not exactly being about to agree nor disagree. So he simply nodded his head and let her continue. "Oh that's right. Fuku wanted to talk to you about something after Akido died. So what, was he planning on making you into one of us or something?" By his tone he sounded like he was mostly joking around, however he would quickly defend himself afterwards, "Not that I'd object or anything. It's just Kubikiribochou is a really big sword and takes a lot of strength to wield."
He fell silent again after that, but this time only for a few minutes as they kept walking towards their destination, "Do you even want to be a swordsman?" He knew from experience that being a swordsman meant you had to be ready to move at any given moment. You had to be ready to kill and even worse, ready to be killed. It was something Okuma was still getting used to. The idea that you could die at any time. While it was given with them being Shinobi it was still unnerving in a sense. Especially after what had happened right before he obtained Kiba. That incident that had cost him his right eye.
Okuma shook his head pushing the memory back into the depths of his mind. He didn't need to be thinking about that, at least not right now anyway. "Anyhoo, we should be arriving at our destination soon. Are you ready to get right to work Iku?"

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true]she looks like a teenage anthem she looks like she used to be happy with the girl inside she looks so bored sometimes and she has that super pale skin and those soft green eyes she looks like she could have been happy in a better life i tell myself the same damn thing everything will be alright -- Iku was a person that was quick to anger. The tone that Okuma used to ask his question, therefore, kind of pissed her off, and she was definitely considering giving him hell for it. "As a matter of fact, yes, that's exactly what he's doing." She supposed it was understandable that the swordsman found it a little hard to believe; after all, the girl was barely over five feet tall and hundred pounds, and until recently walked around in dresses ninety-nine percent of the time. So it wasn't that odd that someone would be skeptical. But hell, it irritated her anyway. "I'll have you know that I'm a hell of a lot stronger than I look. I didn't have any problems picking it up or anything." She neglected to mention that Fuku had broken half the blade off the sword, and that was probably why she hadn't dropped it or anything.
Iku considered that for a moment. "At some point, everyone wants to be a Swordsman of the Mist, I think. When I was in the academy, I always thought it would be cool to have Nuibari. But then I started working with a staff instead of studying kenjutsu, so... I never really, really thought about it until Fuku handed me Kubikiribouchou and was like 'hey, you're one of us now.' Honestly.. I think it's going to be awesome. And hard... Mostly hard. But I can do it. Someday, I'll be as good of a swordsman as you and Fuku and the rest of them." She didn't really think that the killing part was going to get to her all that much... Sure, the first time she'd seen someone killed in front of her, it had been a little freaky, but hey. She was going to have to get used to it eventually. People died every day in the shinobi world, and she'd much rather be the cause than one of the casualties.
