[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true]i remember the words he said when you dream you hit bottom chances are good you're gonna wake up dead tags: kuro notes: iku's order would cost about $150 ~o~ words: 424 credit: akemi of btn Iku's mood had done a complete and total one-eighty, from typical teenage angst to exuberant and enthusiastic in a matter of seconds. She was giggling in wicked glee at the prospect of spending all of Kuro's money. "Do you like sushi, Kuro-kun~?" she asked, grinning widely. Sushi was her absolute favorite food, and the restaurant she was dragging the Hoozuki to was one of the best sushi places in the village. She had only been to it twice - once was her mother's attempt to show some interest in her children and get Iku to love her by bribing her with her favorite food, and the second time was (strangely enough) on a date she had had with an older boy - and she was really excited to go again. She was going order everything she even thought might be tasty, even if she had to box most of it up and take it home with her.
Eventually, they arrived at the restaurant - it would have gone a little faster if the Hoozuki had moved his damn feet faster, but he was probably trying to delay the death of his wallet by a few minutes - and Iku just about squealed with delight. The restaurant wasn't as full as she had expected, which meant they probably wouldn't have to wait very long - if at all. Score!
The interior walls were painted a dark orange, which sounded like it would be painful to the eyes, but it was actually really nice. The chairs and booths were a slightly lighter shade, and though the dining area was small, it felt comfortable, not cramped. Iku spotted a few empty booths in the back of the room, so no wait time - awesome. The hostess picked up two menus and ushered the teens to one of those back booths, and Iku slid into one and began poring through her menu immediately.
"Pork gyoza, beef negimaki, and shrimp tempura for appetizers... hmm, some miso soup, a salmon skin salad... a shrimp tempura roll, two Snow White rolls..." The Snow White rolls were her absolute favorite - crunchy, spicy salmon, cucumber, yellowtail, white tuna, and avocado - and she wanted Kuro to try one. "Actually, make that three of the Snow Whites... Ooh, how about the Love Boat plate for our entree? Some red snapper teriyaki... and I'll take a sushi bento box to take home. Green tea to drink... and some green tea mochi ice cream for dessert." Kuro was probably going to have a heart attack. |

[atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,435,true][atrb=vAlign,top] ❝ YOU'RE SOMETHING DEADLY THAT I JUST CAN'T PUT MY FINGER ON. ❞ WORDS 386 TAGS characters NOTES write anything you want here! | [atrb=vAlign, top] Sushi? Kuro didn't mind it but knew that the tiny pieces of raw fish layered on top of rice and other fixin's was absurdly expensive. Most of the cost came from presentation and to the financially stupid it was completely worth it. Having spent his entire life on an island country fish was the main dish in just about every meal the boy ate next to rice and over his fourteen years of existence he had tasted it in every which way one could cook a fish. Some where great, most average, and a select few terrible and he hoped that if Iku planned to spend all of his money that she at least knew how to pick decent tasting sushi.
"Raw fish? Sure, why not?" Sarcasm, and a heavy dose of it but he had every right to dish out a bit of it when the girl dragging him through the village was mere moments away from emptying his wallet. He noticed that her attitude had shifted completely from just minutes ago, though whether that was due to her attempting to mask her true feelings or if she was extremely excited to be spending someone else's money Kuro didn't know. In time the two would arrive at the sushi place and the Hozuki could feel his wallet emptying the moment they stepped foot inside. Orange. A lot of orange. Oddly enough it wasn't overbearing and the place looked pretty decent, if a tad emptier than one would have thought.
In the blink of an eye the two had been seated and before Kuro could draw a breath Iku had begun spewing out orders. With every piece of food came a nauseous feeling in the Genin's stomach. This girl was not only attractive, but she was devious as well, even going so far as to order for the boy. Granted, after hearing all of this Kuro wasn't going to order anything anyway. From appetizers to to-go boxes to dessert Iku had covered every base and then some, leaving Kuro with a twitching eye and the thought of calling this entire thing off. "Quite the appetite." He said with a smile, his true face masked behind the faux smile. Unfortunately, such was the price of love, er, extreme liking?

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true]i remember the words he said when you dream you hit bottom chances are good you're gonna wake up dead tags: kuro notes: ~o~ words: 345 credit: akemi of btn "Oh, don't you get all sarcastic on me, Kuro." She'd punch him if he kept it up, no matter how much of his hard-earned money she was spending. One did not simply get sarcastic with Iku and walk away unscathed. "I might have to put you in debt if you do~" And yes, she was more than capable of doing so - with her taste in clothing and jewelry, things could get pretty pricey fast.
"I might be thin, but I do actually eat every once in a while." She stuck her tongue out at him. "Besides, it's not all just for me. I got enough for us to share~ I know what on this menu tastes best, so." The woman that had been taking down her order left, figuring that the boy wasn't going to add anything to the long list. "They're usually pretty quick here, so we shouldn't have to wait too long."
Iku fell silent, not knowing what else to talk about. Mostly, with Kuro, they talked about their relationship and stuff like that... if there was even much time for talking in between, ehe, other things. And he'd made it pretty clear that he didn't want to broach that subject today. She didn't want to piss him off, so she couldn't keep badgering him about that 'old friend' of his. Hm. Well, the silence would only be awkward until some of the food arrived. That, at least, was a plus.
And, sure enough, after a short period that felt much longer, the appetizers and individual rolls arrived. Iku immediately laid claim to the shrimp tempura and two of the Snow White rolls, pushing the last over to Kuro. "That's my favorite roll. Try it~" She began nibbling on the tempura, and just watched him. If he didn't want the sushi, well, more for her. He could eat the pork and beef appetizers and she'd just have a ton of stuff to bag up and take home with her. |

[atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,435,true][atrb=vAlign,top] ❝ YOU'RE SOMETHING DEADLY THAT I JUST CAN'T PUT MY FINGER ON. ❞ WORDS 391 TAGS characters NOTES write anything you want here! | [atrb=vAlign, top] Kuro found it amazing how light-hearted Iku could be about this entire situation, and even went as far to try and shoo aside his sarcasm. If there was one thing he could afford it was to let out a bit of steam in a witty remark. Then she had the gall to make a debt joke, as if she didn't know that her ordering spree was already going to break the proverbial, no, literal bank that was Kuro's wallet. Amazing how considerate she attempted to be by saying that she ordered enough for the two of them, and for the most part she was technically right. All that food would be enough for the both of them, whether Iku wanted to or not.
There was no way that a person could order that much food and not share. "Oh trust me, we would have been sharing regardless." More sarcasm, well, not really. Kuro was truthful in his words though there was a witty tone to them. He knew that Iku knew very well what she was doing, and though he wouldn't acknowledge it directly the remarks would begin to paint a picture in due time. In due time a silence would fall over the two, Iku surprisingly not uttering a word and Kuro trying to figure out which of his limbs he was going to have to sell to pay for all of this. He didn't really mind, however, as soon enough the food would begin to arrive.
Though she may have not had an eye for prices, the girl did have an eye for food. What began to trickle in both looked and smelled great, and hopefully it was worth every pretty penny that the Hozuki was going to pay for it. He watched as Iku snatched up most of the rolls, leaving only one for Kuro. Perhaps the two had different definitions of the word sharing. With a decent sized bite the boy tasted the Snow White roll, and he had to admit that it wasn't half bad. "Guess I'll have to give you credit for this... maybe." He spoke before taking another bite. Of course the boy would never admit to enjoying the food as that would possibly be misconstrued as a hint for Iku to spend more of his money.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true]i remember the words he said when you dream you hit bottom chances are good you're gonna wake up dead tags: kuro notes: ~o~ words: 307 credit: akemi of btn Iku's eyes narrowed dangerously. Was that more sarcasm she detected, even though she'd just told him to lose that tone? "You stop it with the sarcasm or I will punch you in your pretty face, Kuro-kun~" Iku might have looked like a lightweight - okay, so maybe she was, kind of - but she had one hell of a punch when she was mad. And ruining their nice, expensive sushi dinner was definitely enough to make her mad. "Hush it and stuff your face already, would you?"
Pretty soon Iku had devoured the couple rolls she'd ordered, as well as all five pieces of the shrimp tempura, and she'd started eying the beef that was on his side of the table - luckily for Kuro, if he intended to eat the beef, the entree arrived, and the girl was plenty occupied picking all the best pieces of sushi out of it for herself. She judged the best rolls not only on what they contained but how pretty they looked - if even a single grain of rice was misplaced, the rolls stayed on the dish for the Hoozuki. Somehow, she was able to find a place in her bento box for the teriyaki - and then she was done eating, except for the ice cream. And god, was it delicious.
The two didn't say much for the rest of the night - Iku was too busy eating, and Kuro probably was as well. As soon as she was stuffed, the girl got up, kissed the boy on the cheek, and fled with her bento - a surefire way of making sure he couldn't skip out on the check. She'd decided to let him off easy this time - she would wait until the next time he got paid for a mission to drag him dress shopping, hehe. |
