Bri-Slam![/b] The alarm clock fell in defeat. It's rings would not disturb another man again (for twenty-four hours). Hoji had already been awake and sitting up when his alarm clock had started to ring. It was a special day for Hoji. Today was the first time he was going to beat Shindama Senju in a spar.
Shindama and Hoji had been sparring for a while now. They'd pick a date, meet up at the Third Training Ground and have a short spar until they were tired or Hoji gave up because he was tired. They had both been training separately there once and when they bumped into each other they decided on a spar and from there on it became something of a regular thing.
Shindama always won however. Though there was no official points system or way to officially win the sparring match Shindama was always leading the fight and Hoji was always the one surrendering or asking for a break. Most of their skills were at the same level but Shindama always had that little bit more speed that was key especially in the mainly physical confrontations they had.
However Hoji had an ace in the hole this time. Since their last sparring match Hoji had developed his first Akimichi Clan Hiden with his father. The Multi-Size Technique would allow him to bulk himself, and his bo staff, to triple his size. He could use his increased size and strength to defeat Shindama for once.
That was why Hoji had woken earlier. That was why Hoji had already had his morning carrot three times and that was why Hoji was sitting fully-clothed in his bed. That and he was waiting for the enticing smells of breakfast to lure him downstairs. Hoji didn't like going downstairs too early as breakfast might not be ready yet and he'd have to wait while all those juicy aromas surrounded him. It was like torture!
When Hoji did eventually venture out for his breakfast he was welcomed with the beautiful sight of food piled on high. In fact there was way too much food. Something was off... “Where's Dad?” Hoji asked his mother as he sat down at the kitchen table.
The woman, surprisingly thin and gorgeous, replied without skipping a beat in the hefty breakfast she was compiling. “Daddies not home from work yet, Hoji. He said he wouldn't be back till tomorrow.”
Hoji should have known. His mother always cooked more whenever she was worried; mostly when Dad went on missions. Hoji took a deep, cleansing breath. First he would conquer this breakfast, then Shindama!

Loud snores were the only sound that echoed in the Shindama house. The small apartment t he lived at by himself. A lack of parents were the reasoning behind it. Like some other ninja Shin had no mother or father due to war, he grew up most of his life without any. Even thought any he never seemed effected by it, actually, he was probably the most eccentric and happy kid someone would ever meet. It was probably because Shindama considered Konohagakure to be his family He felt blessed, just to be in such an amazing village with such amazing people.
"Akemi, y-yasuhiro, why is your head on - Hoji's body..." he was dreaming and talking in his sleep. This dream caused him to wake in a sudden outburst, "Hoji!" he shouted as he sat straight up. He was not running late but, he would be if he did not start getting ready now. Still in his boxers he rolled out of bed and stumbled into the kitchen. Scratching his stomach and yawning simultaneously. When he looked around his kitchen there was nothing to teat. "I forgot to go buy more ramen," he sighed. The Senju quickly went to grab his pants, where his money was kept. It was an empty pocket, a sore sight; he was broke. "I know, I'll go see what Hoji's parents are cooking!" he said quickly running to get dressed. He equipped his usual attire, finishing with his headband and ran out the door of his small apartment.
Off the boy went to Hoji's house, when he got there the he saw n open window. He jumped onto it the n climbed in, the smell was already enticing. Shindama seemed to never use the door, no matter where he went. He truly had a poor lack of manors. "Man I'm starved!" he just kind of walked in, with every intention of helping himself to their food. Before being invited to eat the Genin took a piece of the food and put it in his mouth, "I love your mom's cooking Hoji!" he said. Shindama seemed to have no sense of courtesy, he just did as he pleased. Ignorantly bliss, always enjoying everything whether it effected others or not. He did not do it on purpose though, he did raise himself after all.

This was not the first time Shindama had intruded upon them at a meal time. It wasn't even the first time at breakfast. There was always spare food to be begrudgingly given away in the Akimichi household and boy did Shindama know it.
His mother smiled as she entered the kitchen having long since given up on asking him to use the front door. “Good morning, Shindama.” She said perkily still hustling and bustling about preparing even more breakfast.
“Oh, morning Shin.” Hoji said without looking up from his plate. There was a split second pause between his auto-pilot response and his brain registering Shindama's entrance. A single bead of sweat trailed down his forehead. “Shindama!” He called suddenly standing up in anger and pointing at Shin his persona became even larger than life as he launched into a tirade. “You dirty, grubbing moocher! Why do you always have to come to my house to mooch all of my grub!? And if you think you're having the last morsel of breakfast you've got another thing coming and where do you get off grubbing all my food anyway?..” Hoji was off on his usual food sharing rant. Hoji really didn't like sharing his food almost as much as hated missing out on the last morsel of any meal; that last delicious morsel that would see you through to the next meal. The remnant of a happy, nay perfect, memory.
“Now, now, Hoji, share with your friend.” His mother trilled having said this exact line to calm Hoji down a hundred times before.
“Yeah... Sorry, Shin...” Hoji scowled and fell silent sitting back down in his chair he began to eat at double time then. He would have that last morsel of breakfast if it was the last thing he did!

"Morning!" he said, stuffing his face. His greeting mainly directed at Hoji's mom. He had already been stuffing his face though. Talking with a full mouth. As if he was in a hurry to eat. Shindama looked up at Hoji, he was angry, Shin was an intruder after all. Although Shindama seemed unaffected by his rant. When he looked up at his friend his face was stuffed. Cheeks wide as if he did not know how to chew food. The boy resembling that of a chipmunk.
He looked over to the other boy's mother who calmed him down. The entire time Shindama just smiled big at Hoji, he obviously could not tell when someone was angry. He was awful at reading a situation. Time passed, the two seemed to devour the food, Hoji most of it but Shin managed to keep up. Shinadama could have maybe of been a Akimichi if he was not born a Senju. His ability to scoff down food was extraordinary; a black hole of a stomach.
After a good twenty minutes of having stuffed cheeks he took a big swallow and stood up, his hands upon the wood table. "Man that was good, thanks for inviting me over!" he said, even though he was not invited. "Let's get going Hoji, I'm ready to begin our match!" he spoke with enthusiasm. He walked back over to the window and waved to the Akimichi's mother and jumped out of the window onto the Konoha streets. He began walking to the training grounds slowly. His hands behind his head, in total relaxation. Giving time for his food to digest before they got to the training ground. Moving slowly as to allow Hoji to catch up. The boy had a large smile on his face, a free meal and now a fight, today was off to an amazing start.

Hoji's face dropped as Shin stood thanking his mother and bidding them to leave. “But Shin, breakfast isn't over yet.” He called after the already disappearing Shindama. “Shin! Breakfast! No...” The loss in Hoji's voice was heartbreaking. When there was still no reply his mother gave him a look that said 'go after your friend, Hoji'. A broken-hearted Hoji collected his lunch bag and his Bo staff and trudged out after Shin. Of course Hoji used the door. He wasn't even going to try and fit out of a window.
Spotting the Senju some ways down the street he shouted “Hey, Shin, wait up!” and sprinted toard him. The sprint was more like a jog however his staff click click clicking on the ground as his slack hand allowed the bo staff to tap the pavement after few feet. When he caught up with the boy he fell into step next to him opening up the paper bag with his lunch in it. He withdrew a couple of jam sandwiches (cause fuck Japan) and began to take large, greedy bites.
After he had finished two sandwiches Hoji realised something. He held out the foil wrapping off the sandwiches “Want a sandwich?” He said his mouth full of what he was offering the boy. He gulped down what was in his mouth. “They're really good. The jam is from fresh fruit picked just outside of the village. My mom gets a discount because she buys in bulk. My moms really clever like that. She's always saving us Ryo by buying more and then we get to eat more too so everybody wins.” Hoji could be a real chatterbox when he wasn't so nervous. He was slightly nervous about their spar today but he always felt comfortable around Shin. Shin never had a bad word to say about Hoji. In fact most of the time he had pleasant ones to say even if sometimes his compliments were a bit odd or he stripped for no apparent reason...

Senju Shindama glanced back, his almost hues fixed on the running Hoji. Well... an attempt at running Hoji. The Genin was walking slow though, so catching up did not seem to be an issue. Shindama seemed to just give him a big smile as they walked together. It was a gorgeous Konohagakure no Sato morning. warm, leafs falling, and people laughing. Shin looked over to his friend once again. This time he was being offered a treat. Tan hands launched out, taking the food without even a second thought. He was munching on the sandwich as Hoji was talking to him. Shindama was listening but also busy stuffing his face, just nodding and smiling at the other as he spoke.
The two seemed to be enjoying themselves but up ahead was the training ground. Before they knew it they were walking right into its vicinity. Shindama could see it now, as he finished his sandwich. Forests which surrounded a massively large river. Shin was so familiar with this place because this i where he goes fishing. Then up ahead of then were te three wooden posts. Followed behind the posts was the memorial stone. Everything was there, all of it feeling so familiar to Shin.
With a bigger smile then ever he walked ahead of the other, towards the posts. He then turned around to face his friend; now opponent. "I won't go easy on you Hoji, so be ready because I'm coming fast," he said as he took out two kunai knives. Shin held them defensively though, making it so that the blade faced down, instead of up. There was nothing Shin loved more then duel wielding his knives, in later days it has become sort of his thing.
"I'm ready when you are," he said to the other, twirling his kunai around quite a bit on his index fingers. Although, they always ended up back in the same position, facing down.

Hoji didn't even seem to notice until his feet made contact with the soft grass. When he was talking and eating everything else was sort of done on auto-pilot. He took a minute to take in the beauty of the forest and clearing. All those many shades of green no artist could ever hope to capture on a brush though it was not just the aesthetics Hoji admired but the many sounds. The chirping of birds, the gentle rushing of the river... All these things and more made this place special to Hoji. “I won't go easy on you Hoji, be ready because I'm coming fast.” Shin was certainly enthusiastic today. Shin was enthusiastic most days though so it wasn't exactly a surprise. “Two seconds.” He called as Shin got into his stance. Hoji hurried over to one of the posts and put his lunch bag down on top of it. He ran huffing and puffing back to where he had been before. Hoji took a deep breath. He wasn't going to use his ace straight away of course. It was better to warm up first. The human body was generally not ready for battle at every moment of the day. It needed to limber up, get the adrenaline pumping and all that jazz. That was usually why sneak attacks were so profoundly successful. Hoji's technique, if used now, would simply not have the same effect. He'd be bigger, yes, but he'd still have to limber up which would be even harder in a larger body. “Okay, Shin, I'm ready and don't think I'll go easy on you either.” Hoji managed to sound confident as he took his bo staff in both hands. He had the staff positioned in a diagonal bar across his body. This was the easiest, and most basic, defence position. It was a good stance to start in especially if one wasn't planning on jumping to the offence.

Shindama was cocking a smile, in a light stance with his kunai in his hands. He seemed to just be watching Hoji as he got ready. As soon as he saw him get back and hold his bo staff out it was time.
The Genin's eyes began to squint, his almond hues began to grow cold. A usual bright smile that was comforting and friendly was now straight. Any sign of emotion left Shindama. Except maybe his intent to fight, his will to take down his opponent. His stance began to tighten up. Crouching down just a tad bit further, his sandals pivoting against dirt ever slightly.
Finally, after a good minute of staring the other down the friendly Shin was gone. No longer were the two friends but enemies, a cold eerie feeling swept through the air. The entire vibe of the training ground changed. He finally was ready, after running over a hundred different scenarios in his head on how he would win. Even if the fight out not be as easy to win he still at least built confidence.
Pivoting his feet yet again he kicked off the ground, running towards Hoji at full speed. He was spinning his kunai around on his index fingers, as a distraction. Using them as a way, with the light from the sun, to divert Hoji's attention from Shindama himself. When he got about three feet away from Hoji he shunshined to the side of him. In the midst of this fast passed movement he was preparing himself for a heavy attack. When he reappeared he sent a heavy kick towards Hoji, it spanned his whole lower leg. At the same tie he was still spinning his kunai. Using them as a disraction other then just a tool to attack with.

Hoji was familiar with Shindama's combat focus. It was both awing and, at the same time, never failed to unnerve him. He was such a friendly and enthusiastic person the change was always so drastic. Hoji had a job to do as well. He was serious. He was going to beat Shindama this time for sure.
Hoji hardened his stance a bit as Shin launched himself forward. He had to stop himself from taking that instinctive step back. He had to be still. He had to be hard like a rock but fast like... uh... a rabbit?
Hoji was too focussed on staying still that when Shin started to twirl his kunai Hoji foolishly directed his attention at the rather obvious feint. “Wha-?” Hoji said almost under his breath as the twinkly kunai disappeared for a sec as Shin shunshinned (this is officially a verb by the way) forward. This might have saved Hoji however as his surprise cause him to take a full step beck at the same time as Shin appeared causing his leg not to connect as fully as it could have. It still connected with the soft flab of his belly knocking Hoji back a bit.
As he stumbled back he let go of his left hand on the staff and tried to bring the bo staff around with his right hand to hit shindama in the side of the neck. In certain situations Hoji's staff was useful but in other situations the best Hoji could do was whack people with it really sore to get them to let up on him for a bit.

The kick hit, this was a good sign. Shindama already had Hoji on the defense. This just gave the Genin more time to keep pressing until he hopefully put his opponent against a wall. Strip them of all movement and leave them with nothing. That was Shindama's main goal when it came to fighting.
Shindama took one step forward but the bo staff was there to catch him. This was a blessing in disguise though, it gave him a path. This was yet another reason he used his kunai the way he did. He threw up his left arm, normally the bo staff would just smack his forearm. This was a different case, because he had his handy dandy tool.
Shindama let the staff collide, using the slanted side that was away from Hoji to slide against the staff. Giving a smooth surface which connected with the other. He ran up the staff quickly, the sound of the kunai and the staff filling the air. In his other hand was of course the other kunai which was ready for an attack. Of course a full on attack with it was not an option. It was a tool meant for killing which, even in a serious state he would not do. Shindama believed in holding back his killing intent but not the skill. So the answer was simple, he would have to attack as if used to kill just restrict himself from killing. In no way would his skill be restricted in his action.
As he closed the gap, quickly, he used his second kunai which was in his right hand. He in a way threw himself at Hoji, but in actuality did not. With his right forearm, he made it look as if he would cut Hoji's cheek with the kunai, but it was not the case. In stead he sent a heavy elbow hurdling towards his face. The skill of the kunai was there, but what followed was just a painful elbow. He still contiued to stay connected with the bo staff so he could control it's movement better.

Hoji hadn't expected the attack to do much damage but he certainly hadn't expected his opponent to use it against him. As Shindama slid forward and the kunai came at him he thought he was really done for there for a minute until Shin slid the elbow in instead of the kunai. Hoji squealed in pain and fell on his ass. His footing had already been unsure. The extra force to the face had tipped him over completely.
Hoji sat there on the ground rubbing his red face for a minute. “Ouch, Shin, that really hurt. Geez...” Hoji complained. There was no actual sore feelings held towards Shin though. They were fighting and hurting someone was kind of the point. “Let me get in a hit next time, hot shot.”
After about another minute Hoji finally stood with something of a groan. “Hey, let me stretch out before the next round.” He told his friend as he started to do some light stretching mostly in the leg department. Hoji would have regretted his overly large, starchy breakfast but when he remembered all the many delicacies he just couldn't do it. It had been too good to be bad.
Hoji took a deep breath “Are you ready, Shindama Senju?!” He declared loudly pointing at his opponent. “Because you are not going to defeat me today!” Hoji performed the one, two handseals needed for the Jutsu taking deep, deep breaths to focus all of his chakra. Hoji started to shake and there was a great plume of white smoke.
When the smoke cleared Shindama would have to look up to take in all of Hoji for he was now exactly, and proportionately, three times his regular size. It was not just Hoji but his clothes and his staff had increased too which he held out in front of him in both hands kind of like a sword.
“You won't get away from me now, Shindama!” Hoji declared taking one loud step forward. “Are you ready because I'm coming and I'm not going easy on you!”

Shindama changed back to his normal self, rubbing the back of his head. He did not mean to hit Hoji so hard but, he was a Senju. They had abnormally strong bodies, much like his ancestors, hitting hard was just an instinct. "Sorry Hoji, heh," he said taking a few steps back to let up on his friend. It was not new for Hoji to take breaks ever so often. Shindama did not mind though, it was just a spar after all.
The Genin went back to his usual stretching, preparing for round two. He then began to hear Hoji, sounding rather excited. In an instant the cloud covered his field of view. From it grew a thirteen foot tall Hoji. "Woah you're amazing!" Shindama said, obviously impressed with his friend. Now was not the time for praise though, Shindama stumbled a bit once he took a step forward, that made him realize it was time to get more serious.
Tuning to run away towards the woods, he quickly put away his two kunai. It was time for Shindama to cast some of his own Ninjutsu. It was a simple technique, but simple did not mean ineffective. As he made it towards the small forests surrounding the woods he made the simple hand seal. The clone hand seal where he crossed for fingers together. As he did it he jumped into the woods, as did the two clones that went in opposite directions of the woods. Shindama quickly hid behind a tree waiting for Hoji to come make his move.

Bunshin no Jutsu | Clone Technique
Technique's Label: Universal. Technique Prerequisites: --- Type: Ninjutsu. Elemental Nature: --- Description:
A ninjutsu that creates an intangible copy of one's own body, without any substance. Since the clone itself doesn't have the ability to attack, and thus can only be used to confuse the enemy, it is mainly used in combination with other ninjutsu. It's a basic technique, but depending on one's ingenuity, it can be used effectively. The clones may dissipate when they come into contact with something.
These clones can be easily distinguished by persons with doujutsu. A person with normal eyes can also distinguish the clones from the original, since the clones do not have shadows and will not disrupt the area around themselves with their movement (i.e. won't kick up dust, crush grass, etc.). “Woah, you're amazing!”
Hoji could have given up the fight right then. He had more or less gotten what he wanted. It wasn't just admiration as Shin could be pleased by the simplest things but it was genuine admiration he too was proud off. It wasn't some sort of faux praise like 'good strike, if that had hit I would be feeling pretty sore'. Hoji had actually done something good, in his opinion, and it was good to hear Shindama agreeing with that instead of trying to make him feel better.
To the average person thirteen feet might sound like a truly astonishing height but, in reality, it wasn't as large as many would think. Hoji was nowhere near as tall as the trees so when Shin ran into them Hoji frowned a giant's frown. If he went into the trees he would have to fight branches and such. Hoji could most likely knock down some trees with a little bit of elbow grease but that seemed altogether way too extreme for a casual spar. After all he would disfigure the pretty, and symbolic, training grounds as well as uproot countless wildlife. Hoji just couldn't bring himself to do such a petty thing.
There was always the option of waiting out in the open. It would give Shindama time to prepare some sort of plan but it would also give Hoji at least something of an advantage as Shindama would have to come out of hiding to attack. Then again he couldn't hold the jutsu forever.
Hoji stretched out his joints as he prepared for the most difficult of techniques: to crouch. With some huffing puffing he eventually got his legs to respond and he lowered his body down to about people level his giant bo staff held out like he was about to jab someone he peered into the forest. He spotted a Shindama hiding behind a tree . He adjusted his angle a bit and “I've found you now, Shindama!” thrust the bo staff forward into the forest. He would never fully hit his friend as such an attack would surely break multiple bones. His aim was to stop the bo at last minute and then lightly tap him with it.

Shindama was not as serious as before, now h was just having some fun. Below him, from a tree above he saw Hoji coming in. He was still bigger then usual, Shindama wanted that jutsu. He strived to wanna learn every jutsu he could, even if he had not learned any yet. Originally all three of the Shindama's, one real one and 2 clones had gone different ways. This was just a diversion tactic though that worked rather well. The once split up three never actually moved far from one another. Shindama had a plan all figured out in his head. Distract Hoji, so that the real one could move in and end the fight.
It started, Hoji noticed one of the clones standing on a tree. The real Shindama still waited quietly overhead. At the same time another clone ran out in front of Hoji. At this time Hoji was already extending his bo staff to tap the one at the tree. It was all according to the plan though. Shindama smirked, as both his diversions showed themselves to Hoji. With the two explosive tags in his left and right hand he quietly let himself drop from the tree. At least he was quiet until he actually did what needed to do. Shin tried to place two explosive tags on Hoji's shoulders, when he did that he hollard out, "you're dead Hoji!"Shindama did not mean this literally though. It was basically like he was saying the fight was over, and that he had won.

Hoji was confused for just a sec when he saw another Shindama run out out across his vision. Two Shindama? A clone, err, clones! Hoji had been deceived. Shindama had always been a tad more cunning than the average kid when he put his mind to it.
Hoji was still trying to deal with the other Shindama, thinking this to be the real one, when the real real one jumped on his back and declared his death. “Huh? How Come?” Hoji asked confused letting his jutsu go. In a puff of smoke Hoji was back to normal size again and Shindama was still on his back the boy fell in a heap on the floor.
Hoji wriggled and squirmed accidentally kicking Shin a few times as he tried to untangle himself. Every strike was coupled with a sincere “Sorry!” as Hoji did it out of no malice. When Hoji eventually did right himself he stood up and dusted himself off. He scowled at Shindama.
“Why am I-?” As Hoji was patting himself down he felt something on the back of his jacket. He peeled it off. “An explosive tag!?! Are you crazy!?! You could have actually killed me!?!” Hoji cried in alarm and frustration. Shindama could be awfully reckless at times. The wrong handseal at any given time and Hoji would have went up like fireworks at New Years.
Hoji sighed as he realised even with his great jutsu he had still been defeated. “Well you win again Shindama. Well done.” Hoji offered his hand for a friendly handshake to show there was no hard feelings. Hoji suddenly brightened up “Hey, Shindama, wanna get some Ramen?”
