[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true] Hold your hands into the sky Pray for mercy, instead of time Low budget movies, change our low budget lives There's something to corsets and horror that joins our lonesome minds And these bloody faces with their bloody knives Say if we ever make it We'll be so bloody tired of these times Hold your hands into the sky You are the massacre, the masochist, the tease And you're captivating , standing in front of me The first feeling Tera was aware of was pain. Well, not so much pain as a deep ache that had spread throughout her entire body and made even the thought of moving hurt - which was, admittedly, rather painful. But the real pain - the pain one feels after they were beaten within an inch of their life - had faded, as had the sharp pain in her stomach.
She remembered the pain clearly - but it took a few minutes for the rest of it to click in her tired mind. Kakuzu had appeared from out of nowhere and stopped the attack on her - although not before it was too late to save her child. And Tera wanted to just curl up in a ball and start crying again. "N-not very good..." she admitted. "B-but I'm alive, if that means anything. And all thanks to you, Kakuzu." Tera still couldn't believe she was alive - it had been such a fortuitous coincidence that Kakuzu had been in the area to save her, and more than repay the debt he said he owed her for saving him.
A part of her didn't feel like her life had been worth saving. But that wasn't something she would say to Kakuzu. Tera didn't want to sound ungrateful for his help - and he could just as easily turn around and kill her now if she upset him. She didn't think he would do something like that - but what did she have to base that off of? One act of kindness, a debt repaid? Heaven forbid she trust someone simply because she could - because she felt drawn to him, just a little.
"Where did that other man go? D-did you... you didn't kill him, did you?" To be honest, Tera wasn't even sure that there had been a man... She'd been floating on the edge of consciousness when she'd seen him and it wouldn't be too unrealistic for her to have imagined his existence. If he had been real, though... Well, he was just gone. Of course, she didn't know how long she'd been unconscious, or even where they were.. But that didn't seem important enough to ask about at the moment.
Kakuzu had managed to salvage the wreckage she'd become, but would it last? WORDS: three hundred ninety-four TAGS: kakuzu NOTES: - - - LYRICS: the tease by evans blueCREDIT: akemi of btn TECHNIQUES USED: - - - CHAKRA REMAINING: 83% |

Shadows of nothing
Her words still seemed rather pained, which was to be expected after what she had gone through. Honestly it made the man want to help her in any way he could. He knew the feeling of feeling useless and just wanting to disappear. He felt that way not long after he had left his village. However he had pressed onward. He mastered the Earth Grudge Fear, and now he was here. With Amaterasu who now was in a position similar to his all those years ago. Only, the only thing he would never be able to understand is the feeling she felt when that life that had been growing inside of her was extinguished. He couldn't help her with that, and it almost made him feel as though he were now the useless one.
"The fact that you're alive now means that there is still something you can do in this world," he attempted to give her words of encouragement as he started walking now, "You are still able to look over the next generation as they grow and become strong. You're still able to protect that which will be close to you some day. That is because you are alive." He stopped about a five minute walk away from the village before them, "Tera, remember this. That child you would have had gave you something you may have never thought you would have ever had. Love. Don't ever let go of that feeling, for some day, I know, you may experience it again." He turned his head to view her out of the corner of his eye, "I know this, because unlike myself, even if you don't believe it, you're still innocent. You refuse to shed blood. You refuse to fight for no reason. You saved my life a year ago even though I am perhaps the most impure being in this world. You have a gift that none other rogue may possess."
He continued walking again, "You have a heart." When they arrived at the motel several minutes later, Kakuzu told the clerk a fake story about how his partner hurt her leg while they were traveling so as to explain why he was carrying her. He then attained a room key for a room with three parts, two bedrooms with their own bathrooms, and a main room. Kakuzu carried Tera up there and sat her on the bed of the room that seemed the nicest of the two. In there he told her of all that had transpired while she had been unconscious and he also told her of their location and his destination.
"Tera, you've brought something to light for me. Perhaps its a small shred of a feeling for humanity that I thought had died in me a long time ago, I'm not sure, but," he looked at the wounded nukenin, "I have to say, I would appreciate it if you would stay with me for a while longer. So what do you say, want to come to the mercenary village with me?" He hung his head to the side a bit a small smile actually on his face for the first time in a very long time. He seemed to be genuinely in a good mood for once. Was this perhaps Tera's gift to humanity?

What purpose did her life have? At least while she was pregnant she had something to live for, some reason to keep on going even if she was conflicted. What could she possibly do that would have any effect on anything? It wasn't like Tera could settle down and teach or work in a hospital or anything like that. She was a wanted criminal, thus her career choices were quite limited. And she absolutely refused to do any criminal's work - no killing or stealing or anything like that. It wasn't going to happen. So what was there?
Love. Like she was going to find it out there somewhere. She just didn't think it was possible. Even if Tera did find someone, they likely wouldn't keep her around once they figured out who she was. Especially because, after what had happened, the woman would be terrified to ever try to have a child again. She could return to the Land of Lightning, she supposed, and find the hawk sage Izuuna, and see what he would do. Probably kill her, this time. That was a situation in which she couldn't really lose.
Tera didn't feel like thinking about any of that right now, honestly. She just wanted to go back to sleep. Preferably not on Kakuzu's back this time.
She offered the clerk in the motel a weak smile and let Kakuzu do all the talking. And before she knew it, they'd acquired rooms, and he'd put her down on one of the beds, which at the moment felt like the softest, most comfortable thing ever. Murmuring her thanks once again, she curled up under the covers, then craned her head back to look at the man when he posed his question. She wasn't entirely sure why he wanted to keep her around but... "I'd like that." Seeing his small smile made her feel a little bit better.
She managed to get back to sleep quickly, and by the time she awoke again it was night. After a trip to the bathroom, Tera curled back up and tried to return to the peaceful void of dreamless sleep. But her efforts were to no avail.
After an hour of tossing and turning and rolling around in the bed, Tera slipped out of her room and made her way into the other bedroom, where Kakuzu was sleeping. It would be a little awkward to explain in the morning, but she just couldn't bear to feel all alone right now.
Tera slid into the bed beside the older man and snuggled up to him, taking comfort just through having him near. WORDS: four-hundred sixty-three TAGS: kakuzu NOTES: feeeeeels LYRICS: the tease by evans blueCREDIT: akemi of btn TECHNIQUES USED: - - - CHAKRA REMAINING: 83% |
