Hunting Gone Wrong [Mission]

People always found a way to get in over their heads and when that time came they usually sought out help. In this day and age the helpers were usually shinobi, and depending on the severity of the task either one or a bunch of them could be sent out in response. This particular scenario involved a group of hunters from a small village getting caught in their own traps. Hilarious, though only because these were non-lethal traps and instead had the men hanging in nets above the ground. Normally this wouldn't have been an issue for someone to just cut them down, but the remaining villagers had no means to without causing the men to plummet to the ground, and that would have been no fun for anyone. This was where a certain Genin came into the picture as he had been tasked with aiding the people and getting them down, though for some reason the higher ups felt that it would take not one, but two Genin to complete the job, and hence Kagami had been assigned a partner on this mission. He hated it, and the payment received almost seemed not worth it to be honest, though if there were a silver lining the partner was one of his teammates from the Nibuntai, specifically the girl who seemed, to a degree, just as disinterested as being in a group as he did. Regardless this wasn't going to be an enjoyable day even if it did break the usual D-rank mission archetype of picking up garbage or finding a lost cat. It was about noon and the streets were hustling and bustling, though the Uchiha had found himself awaiting the girl at the gates and away from most of the noise, though there were a fair number of people entering and exiting the village. Kimiko had little to no interest in this mission, it was pointless to go out and save some stupid men from their own traps What was coming to the world of today when the older members of the village didn`t know how to even set traps properly. Kimiko just did not understand what was so confusing about setting a trap, leaving it be, and coming back a few days later after properly marking the area. It was common sense and in her mind even a five year old could have done it. Kimiko had been paired up with the Uchiha boy from her team which didn`t make this useless task any better than the meetings they where forced to suffer through. Like any young girl kimiko took her time getting ready in attempts to irritate the male more so than this mission should have by the time she reached him it was noon. She wouldn`t apologies for being late or even talk to him if she didn`t have too. This kid was something of an annoyance on the team and even though they just so happened to be the same age she refused to be kind to him.

With a serious face she made her way to the males side not bothering to say a word to him but simply giving him the are we going yet look. Kimi was sick and tired of having to work with the males on her team she didn`t understand how she could get the attention of every male who wasn`t on her team. Maybe they liked boys? She walked in a slow pace making sure if he wanted to slack back slightly that she wouldn`t lose him but eventually the two would have to pick up the pace. She spoke with her amber eyes still locked on the pathway ahead of them, "Look I don`t like this mission anymore than you seem too, so lets agree to stay out of one another`s way till this we finish this." her voice was slightly annoyed she wanted to be home in the warmth of her house. As she walked the orange girls in her pony tailed bounced slightly with her body. She was tired of trying to make friends with these people and the only way she could figure to get through this was to ignore them the best way she could.

She didn't look any better than the first time they had seen each other so any extra time she had spent bettering herself had gone to waste, if that was the case. The only thing worse than one quiet person who hated the world were two of them, and for most the silence that followed their trek outside of the village would have been too much, but for the Uchiha it was no different than everyday life. He had indeed slacked behind a couple steps but noticed that Kimiko wasn't in any rush to put a great distance between the two of them. Maybe it would have been different if the girl was just quiet but instead she had to be irritating as well. Perhaps it was the fact that Kagami could see pieces of himself in her that irked him the most, though it was more likely that this girl was just too incompetent to be considered a ninja. Hell, most Genin were, but Kimiko was especially, and for that matter so was that know it all Sarutobi. Kagami hated him the most though that freaky sensei of theirs was in the running as well. So long as they didn't get in his way of furthering his skills then there would be no issue, though the chances of that happening were slim to none considering just how lack luster they seemed to be. Silence would have been preferred, though it seemed even that simple request was too much to ask for as Kimiko began running her mouth. Something about staying out of each others way and the both of them not liking this mission. Garbage. He would have agreed, but she did not deserve that satisfaction. Plus, if the task was simple enough that two people could go their separate ways and complete it then there were no need for two people in the first place, so at some point their paths would have to cross. "Yeah sure, whatever." It was the best she would get from Kagami, probably ever. A couple hours later and the dirt path leading from the village turned to a more less walked green outline that signified the leaving of civilization, for the most part. The trees had become larger though there weren't as many of them and if the men were hanging from distances of this height then this mission was going to be more difficult that first imagined. In time the two would come upon ground littered with various nets torn asunder and other hunting weaponry. It seemed as though not all of the men had been captured. "Hey, Hey, up here!" Called a voice from what seemed the heavens. Looking up, Kagami saw that there were indeed men suspended in the air by nets, a total of nine. Interesting, but still pretty stupid. Kimi had been caught up in her own thoughts as the time past, she was wearing something comfortable so she didn`t mind the long walk. The silence was something she`d grown accustom to with her teammates. One was over annoying and a kiss ass to the teacher and the other was just to depressing to even be anything other than a bore. Everything had turned out the opposite way that she`d wanted, how could this genin truly ever get past her year with a sexist teacher, a kid who didn`t talk to anyone, and another boy who never shut up? The orange hair female came to a stop when she heard the males voice. She looked around the ground noticing the other torn nets some weapons and knifes. She figured her partner would have noticed the same thing.

She held back a chuckle at the stupidity of the men caught in the net as she kept a straight face looking around and examining the area. She began to put the pieces together quickly drawing up scenarios in her mind and crossing out the things that could end badly. She looked to her team mate with a serious face, "Alright there are a few ways we can do this. If we simply cut them down they could get injured in the fall. The ropes are tried to branches so we could climb the trees cut a hole in the top of the nets large enough to pull them through and get them to climb down the tree or you can use your brutish ways and just let them fall." she raised brow and moved to the her back was to him. She moved towards the tree and pushed some bush away exposing a rope that was tied tightly to it. She wasn`t going to just untie it and let him fall that would be unladylike.

She looked at the male with a raised eyebrow her voice hadn`t changed tone from the original one she`d used earlier. "Unless you have another plan?" Kimiko knew it was picking a fight but hey she wasn`t honestly to worried about it, worst came to worse he`d run off and leave her to be the knight in shining armor. She looked up at the men in the nets and shrugged knowing that hopefully they`d help him make a decision. Although she wasn`t sure what to do with all of her information she figured that if she could work with this guy once that her years might pass by faster.

Just because Kagami wanted to get things done as quickly as possible didn't make him brutish, the flashy stuff could be saved for some other low life. Unfortunately, and the boy would never admit this, Kimiko was correct in her sayings. Simply cutting the ropes would leave too great of a fall and possibly kill them, and trying to catch them would be too risky for all involved. Pulling them out of the tops of the nets seemed the better option, and since the Uchiha was able to utilize the walking on trees technique getting up to them would be fairly simple. Yes, that would be the plan of action, though Kagami had no intention of teaming up with that girl on such an endeavor; hopefully she wouldn't mess up and end up killing them. Walking past the girl Kagami stopped at the base of one of the trees that held a captive man and clasped his hands together, focusing chakra to his feet. A faint blue aura would surround them and with a firm yet gentle step the boy began walking up the tree. As these were fairly large trees for Fire Country standards it took about forty-five seconds or so to reach the branch nearest the net. From his holster the boy removed a single kunai and slowly made his way over to the net. He now had to cradle the branch to be able to reach the net and reached an arm out to begin the top of the net. A few cuts later and a hole large enough for a grown man had been made. Now came the tricky part which was pulling said grown man out of the net using virtually nothing but upper body strength. Kagami wasn't the most physically gifted specimen so this feat was going to be a bit difficult. "Let's go." He stated coldly to the man in the net and in one tugging, jerking, difficult motion the trapped man slowly rose from the next. Luckily the Genin had still been channeling chakra to his feet so the risk of falling off the branch was slim to none, though keeping that up for all of these people would be taxing, to say the least. "Climb down, be careful." A rare moment of sympathy from the Uchiha, though luckily Kimiko was too far out of ear shot to hear that; she'd probably make another terrible joke about it if so. With one man rescued there were now still quite a few though between the two Genin who was going to rescue five and who had four was still up in the air, but that would probably be decided by who ran out of stamina first and Kagami would bet everything that it would be the girl. She watched the male use chakra to walk up the tree and frowned slightly, what a show off. She looked around for some way to get up the tree that couldn`t ruin her chakra level, there was a possibility that something else could come up. Kimiko wasn`t going to risk anyones life and as she looked she noticed a branch low enough that she could lift herself up. Using her upper body strength she climbed up one branch then moved to the next gracefully when she reached the first net she didn`t feel to tired. wrapping her legs around the branch she reached out and grabbed the first net cutting into it. After a few slices the rope exposed a hole in net large enough for a male to escape. She wasn`t strong but she knew enough about the body to figure out her next move. She grabbed net with her fingers and pulled it close enough to the branch allowing the male inside it grab it.

She of course like any helpful child pulled him onto the branch. Her She looked down at the area she`d climbed up from and looked at the male. "Use the larger branches so they don't break, As men start coming down find a way to help us lower some of the other people down." She shrugged and kept her balance on the branch. She noticed her team mate doing his own thing like always and he for once didn`t seem like that much of an annoyance. Kimiko cupped her hands over her mouth and yelled toward the male in a motherly tone, "Please be careful!" For once she didn`t care if he got upset or annoyed like any good teammate she wanted him to watch his steps and avoid falling.

There was a lot to kimiko that she`d never allow her team mates or teacher to know about her, it was one thing to be functional and it was another to want to keep a healthy balance. She was curious if she`d ever truly get along with any of the males on her team. Other than Io and Shin she`d never really cared for the male population. Moving slowly to the next net she did the same thing trying to fee the male who`d been caught like the others. It wasn`t surprising to her that something this simple had been messed up by the likes of some non ninja men. For some reason this rope seemed to be thicker or she wasn`t putting enough effort behind it.

He gave no response back and didn't really care if she thought badly of him for it. Had she already become so comfortable to break out of her annoying attitude and start offering pleasantries? Whatever the case was they still a mission to complete and were not close to finishing. With a sigh the Uchiha walked down the tree had previously freed one of the men from and approached another, utilizing the same technique as before to help him ascend. He could already tell this was going to be a work of repetition and wondered how a people who probably used this same type of hunting... no, trapping technique before could be fooled by their own devices. Unless this was the first time they tried this in which case it would also be the last. There was little different from this man than the last, except facial features. Hell, they even had a similar build. The same kunai and the same sized hole were made after the Genin straddled himself on the branch. "Come on, let's go." He spoke to the man as he helped him out of the net then directed him on how to safely get down the tree. With yet another person on their way down it would only be a matter of time until there would be enough men to help pull the rest of the men down, though with that came the possibility of getting a rope burn if it started slipping. Yeah, no way Kagami was going to be subjected to that. However, not having to expend any more chakra wasn't that bad of a trade off. Though his reserves were above that of most Genin prolonged use such as this was still going to drain him. Roughly ten minutes later a third man was down from the tree, and assuming the girl had done her job competently she would have freed the same amount. The Uchiha leaned back on a branch to collect his breath for a moment. While he wanted to find a way to end this task as quickly as possible there were so few people left to free that it possibly wasn't worth it, but if he could predict anything of Kimiko it was that she would undoubtedly blurt out something in the very immediate future, almost as if she were expecting Kagami to cooperate.
