[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true]and if it ends today well i'll still say that you shine brighter than anyone His harsh tone made her flinch - she had thought he might appreciate a comment like that, but clearly she had been wrong. At least she had screwed up with something minor like that and knew now to choose her words a little more carefully when they were directed towards the Hanchou. Being on his bad side... well, that was somewhere that no one wanted to be, especially not the scared little genin standing in front of him. Disappointing the Hanchou by showing him that she was nothing special was bad enough, she didn't want to make him any angrier. She waited with bated breath to see whether or not he would actually fall for the the distraction; he barely moved at all, and didn't turn around, but even the slightest movement was proof that he had been tempted, wasn't it? That little personal victory - the fact that he hadn't seem through it immediately - was almost enough to distract the girl, but she kept her eyes firmly trained on the Hanchou as her kunai flew towards him and he advanced on her, closer and close, and closer still, until... He contorted his body so that they flew harmlessly past him, parts of their blades getting buried in the earth behind him. Wow...She pulled another kunai from her pouch and readied herself to defend, blocking the first shuriken and sending it careening off to the side, and - not having realized that there was another hidden in its shadow - just barely managed to deflect the second before it would have caused her harm. Thus, she was off guard for a few moments - certainly long enough for Daishin to knock her out, or whatever he was going to do. Rika hesitated for a moment, then slashed at him with the kunai she held, all the while trying not to think about the fact that if the Hanchou used even a fraction of his strength, he was going to do quite a substantial amount of damage to her. words 338 tags daishin notes 1865/2500, 87% chakra used - - - |

THIS IS WAR
Fortunately, the test could continue.
Rika managed to deflect Daishin's Kage Shuriken no Jutsu with one kunai. The manner in which she blocked the two projectiles revealed that the genin had almost failed to notice the shuriken hiding in the other's shadow. If the second shuriken had hit her, Daishin might have stopped his charge, canceling the test and condemning Toukijo and the rest of her genin class to increased scrutiny and drill time. Regardless of his status as Hanchou, Daishin's Kage Shuriken should barely be any harder to defend against than another shinobi's. However, Rika's true test was about to begin.
With the kunai still clutched in her hand, Rika tried to slash at Daishin.
Too direct, he thought disapprovingly.
Because of his wealth of battle experience and finely tuned reflexes, Daishin watched the kunai's slashing trajectory as if it moved in slow-motion. Bending his knees, he stomped his right foot into the ground, putting his momentum to an abrupt halt. Then, he pivoted around on that foot, turning his back to Rika and ducked. Her slash missed him completely, cutting nothing but air. Daishin than used his pivot to swing his body behind Rika's. The movement happened very quickly. After successfully evading the genin's attack, Daishin slammed his left elbow into the girl's back, attempting to inflict blunt pain and knock her down.
Daishin actually hoped that Rika could force him to use chakra. It would be unfortunate if he completely subdued her with Taijutsu, a skill set not of his forte. At that point, Daishin was not sure whether or not a complete defeat by his Taijutsu would count toward failure of the test. Of course, he did expect her to lose, and the manner in which she lost would define his evaluation of her and, subsequently, the entire genin class.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true]and if it ends today well i'll still say that you shine brighter than anyone Facing off against Daishin, Rika felt quite inadequate. Sure, he was the village's leader, and stronger than she would probably ever be, but... He was lowering himself almost to her level and she was still faring poorly. She had barely reacted in time to stop the second shuriken from hitting her.. She should have expected that he would do something like that. Being that that was a basic move and all, the girl should have seen it coming, but she hadn't, and she felt really bad about it. Disappointing the village leader was not something she wanted to do... Rika was amazed to see how he moved, such an impressive show of his movement capabilities instead of just blocking... If it was possible, she was even more intimidated than she had been moments before. When he moved behind her, the girl knew she was really in trouble - no matter how fast she moved, there wasn't any way she was going to avoid whatever he did. And so she took the hit, stumbled forwards, and fell, despite her efforts. Taijutsu was her weakest skill - she barely knew even the most basic of forms and moves and didn't have the strength to wield them properly or defend against them. She felt like crying, but despite her sorrow at failing to provide the Hanchou with a good show of skills, she refused to let the tears fall. She got back to her feet, as she would continue to do until she couldn't move. Not wanting to attack him with taijutsu, being that that could only end badly, she just sent the kunai that she still clutched in her hand flying at him. words 284 tags daishin notes 2149, 87% chakra used - - - |
