I aint gonna play the fool anymore
Shadows of nothing
Hff. Hff.. Hff... Urgk. The bounty hunter fell to his hands and knees sputtering and coughing up blood. It had been so long since he felt this much like crap that he hadn't remembered well what it was like. Now he remembered why he always tried to prevent this. His head was pounding with each heart beat. His body screamed from pain and oozed crimson tears still. His stomach was heaving. Yeah everything was just peachy. Damn cat. Managing to move himself toward a large tree, after he stopped vomiting blood of course, he would rest his body between two large roots that the tree's base. He was well off of the path to any sort of destination, so he knew no random shinobi was likely to come by and finish that accursed cat's job. He knew that he was relatively safe. So he allowed himself to drift off into a long, deep, slumber. The days prior to his coming here he had happened upon one of the nine Bijuu. This one was about the size of a two story house and its body was constantly ablaze. It had mismatching eyes and coughed up flaming fur balls. It was definitely a pain in the ass to fight the kitty cat, what having only three hearts when he happened upon it. However it was easily able to take him down, leaving him battered and bruised, and with one heart remaining. Now that heart was aching, like it would give out soon. Damn, he needed to find a replacement.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true]you broke me from the very first night i'd love you 'til the day that i die i'm far too comfortable this time i loved you from the very first night you broke me 'til the day that i die i'm far too obvious this time when you hide, hide inside that body but just remember that when i touch you the more you shake, the more you give away we're far from comfortable this time cold, now we're so cold, mine, and you're not mine, say never we're far from obvious this time { so fall into my eyes and fall into my lies } -- It had been just about a year since she had lost her world and gained a semblance of freedom in return for her pain. She had become a wanderer - the familiar sights of the place she had called home for nearly a decade did nothing but dredge up memories that she would rather keep buried deep inside of her, locked away so she would not have to face them. She did not dare to venture into any of the larger countries due to the frequency of shinobi patrols and the danger of being hunted for the bounty on her head. She did not dare to settle down and attempt to begin a new life for the fear that it would be swiftly ruined.
Tera didn't know what to do with herself. All her life, she had been subordinate to her father - he had made her decisions for her, never given her a chance to make a choice of her own. She barely knew how to function without the man around - to be honest, she was surprised that she had managed to last this long. The few scuffles she had been in had ended in her favor - but barely. She was certain that she was living on borrowed time and her past would catch up with her eventually. She was simply waiting for the arrival of the day that she would die. The thought didn't bother her - it was inevitable, after all.
She had crossed into Hot Water Country a few days ago, and honestly, she was considering trying to settle down in a remote part of the country. It was a beautiful place, and far enough out of the way that she did not believe she was known at all. It would be a nice place to live. Although she had heard of the village of Yugakure somewhere in this country...
This was what the young woman was contemplating when she noticed the distinctive sight of blood on the grass. Tera gasped. What had happened here? Hesitantly, she followed the trail - there might be someone dying all alone in the forest - someone she could help. She had decided, after her father's death, that she would never kill again - instead, she would save lives, if at all possible. She wasn't very proficient with iryou ninjutsu, but... if there was someone hurt, she had to try to help.
"Oh, good gods!" Tera dropped to her knees next to the man that had made the blood trail, hand covering her mouth. He looked like he had seen much better days, and - was he dead? No, no - merely asleep or unconscious. She could see the faint rise and fall of his chest. Well - waking him up would waste time. She might as well try to heal what she could...
Placing her hands over what looked to be the worst of his injuries, she concentrated, and they lit up, glowing a mint green with healing chakra. Keeping up this technique long enough to repair the worst of what she saw was going to take all of her concentration... {words} 517 {tags} kakuzu {notes} --- {lyrics} cold (but i'm still here) by evans blue{credit} akemi of btn |

The fight had not lasted at all that long, although to him it had left like eons. He had engaged the two tailed beast thinking perhaps he could limit the shinobi military might if he were to either destroy it or even perhaps tame it. He was so wrong. No man on this planet would likely be able to tame a fiery beast such as that with mere fists alone. It simply was not possible, or rather plausible. As punishment for thinking he could act a god, the two tails pierced his chest with its tail ending one life immediately. It then flung him across the valley, skipping him across the ground like a stone across water. When he stopped it was because there was no more room to skip, but rather crash into a mountain side. That was when he jarred awake. Hunh? What was that voice? He had heard a distinctly feminine voice cry out some indistinguishable words, and then the sound of a body dropping down to his immediate left. However, he could not tell just who or what had managed to find him, but whomever it was would likely recognize him from his bingo book entry, wouldn't they? No perhaps not, no one was likely to think he was still alive, after all hardly anyone in this world lived to be fifty nine. So then, just what the hell was this woman doing? He soon got his answer as his pain slowly ebbed away. What? Was she a healer of some sort? But why would she heal him? Pity? After several long moments of this continued healed he was finally able to muster enough strength to move his decrepit body. Opening his oddly hued eyes he saw before himself someone whom he immediately recognized, and instinctively his left hand reached out to grasp her wrist. "Nngh, you... why?" His voice was obviously strained for all of the damage he had sustained and he sounded like he still had blood caught in his throat. Still worse than that, he knew he couldn't pose any sort of threat to her. Not like this. So if she so chose, "Ama... tera... su..." She could end his life then and there. But.... Why did he have a hard time believing that?

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true]you broke me from the very first night i'd love you 'til the day that i die i'm far too comfortable this time i loved you from the very first night you broke me 'til the day that i die i'm far too obvious this time when you hide, hide inside that body but just remember that when i touch you the more you shake, the more you give away we're far from comfortable this time cold, now we're so cold, mine, and you're not mine, say never we're far from obvious this time { so fall into my eyes and fall into my lies } -- For a few endlessly long moments, Tera thought that she might have been too late - that no healing could bring him back from the brink of death, especially not healing which came from an amateur with very little training in the subject. His chest continued to rise and fall, but he showed no signs of waking up anytime soon... Was she just prolonging the suffering of a man that death had come to claim?
But then he proved her wrong, thank the gods, and opened his eyes, and the grim frown on her face morphed into a smile. Even the smallest success was still valuable. Those red and green eyes... They were strange, but seemed almost familiar somehow - she knew she'd never met this man before, but could she have seen a picture of him or something? She didn't know. A better question was - would he recognize her? She was, after all, a wanted criminal because of the acts she had committed in her father's name - most notoriously, the slaughter of an entire village of civilians. And she had become fairly infamous due to that.
Tera flinched when he grasped her wrist, but kept the healing chakra going - though it was a lot harder to concentrate now that he was awake and trying to talk - which he really shouldn't be, from the sound of it, but lord knows she wasn't going to scold him. "I have had enough of ending lives." she murmured in response to his question. "I would rather prolong them."
She tugged her wrist free from his grasp, having finished with what she could heal of the worst wound, and moved on to some smaller ones. "I-I don't intend to harm you at all, i-if you're worried..." Then she returned her focus to the healing, instead of talking to him. {words} 312 {tags} kakuzu {notes} --- {lyrics} cold (but i'm still here) by evans blue{credit} akemi of btn |

Shadows of nothing
She shook his hand free of her wrist which, admittedly, wasn't really that hard to accomplish at this point in time, and then she moved on to healing his other various wounds. So bit by bit he continued to feel the pain that had wrought his body ebb away into nothingness. He didn't understand this one. She was a felon much like himself, however unlike himself, she had murdered an entire village of civilians. He had slaughtered his village's elders and stolen their most precious technique. So he didn't get it. Why didn't she finish him off? She knew he would likely be a high threat to her, right? So why?
He let his hand fall back down to the ground and rest at his side. He supposed there wasn't any real threat in allowing her to heal him if that was what she so chose, but, just what did she expect to gain out of healing him? This girl... she was an odd one. "You... do know... I could end your life... in mere seconds..." He was still finding it difficult to breathe much less talk, but he forced himself to anyways. He needed answers, "...don't you....?" He moved his other hand to rest on his chest in a more comfortable position as he watched her with slightly hazy vision. It still perplexed him why someone with a reputation like her's would choose to prolong lives rather than end them. "Why....? What... would you... gain...?" His thoughts were clouded with pain and confusion. He didn't exactly know what to do. Should he kill her once he was back to full health? Should he allow her to live? How else could she benefit him? Dammit all his head hurt.

The process of closing up those shallow wounds would be much easier, and it wasn't like she was low on chakra or anything - it wouldn't have really hurt him to leave them there, but it wouldn't help anything either, so she quickly healed the other injuries that she could see. After one more fairly thorough check, she decided that she was satisfied with what she had done - she hadn't completely healed him, but had greatly sped up the recovery process.
The woman cocked her head to the side and studied him. "I didn't know that, actually. You seem somehow familiar, but I don't have a clue who you are." she admitted, resting her hands on her knees. "If you want to kill me, I won't stop you." Of course, it would be just as easy for her to kill him - he was wounded and whatever strength he had was greatly depleted. Even a broken tool such as herself could carry out such a simple task as slitting the man's throat or whatnot. But he hadn't done anything to her - and even if he had, she likely still wouldn't have raised a hand against him. She did not deserve the life she had - if someone wished to take it, it would do her no good to resist.
"A piece of the humanity I have lost by carrying out such nefarious deeds as I have." Redemption was what Tera sought, thinking to obtain it by doing enough good deeds to cancel out the atrocities she had committed. She had never wanted to kill - she had done so merely to prove to her father that she was good enough to serve him, that perhaps she deserved the love and pride that she craved. But it had never been enough. {words} 336 {tags} kakuzu {notes} --- {lyrics} cold (but i'm still here) by evans blue{credit} akemi of btn |

I aint gonna play the fool anymore
Shadows of nothing
The pain continued to ebb away bit by measly bit and eventually it seemed to be, well, manageable. The throbbing in his head finally ceased and he could breathe quite a bit better, however his chest still seemed rather pained. A key sign that he did not have much time left unless he found a replacement. Still, for now, he could make due with the heart he had. "You... seem rather insecure." Well he was definitely able to speak a lot easier now that he could breathe better, and as she pulled away from him resting her hands on her knees now, the bounty hunter forced himself up into a sitting position. Nngh. Sharp pains, still remain. He held his right hand instinctively to his chest as it continued to pain him with each throbbing beat of his heart. With his other arm he supported himself as he sat upwards. Gritting his teeth as he knew he would have to work through this pain somehow, he got an idea. "You seek... redemption. Khe.... I see, nngh." He paused for a moment as he leaned his body forward a bit. At that moment a strong pang of pain in his chest hit him. NNGH! Damn, less time left than I thought. He looked at Amaterasu now, the expression on his face, which he held no strength to keep under control now, was definitely pained. He knew he had to rely on her for assistance right now or he would likely suffer a heart attack out here, as such he had no choice but to reach out to her. "Help me... a bit longer..." He shifted his head slightly to look off in the direction of the near by Yugakure. From what he remembered, all of their shinobi were rather weak and pathetic from lack of funds to produce a decent program to train them As such they were beginning to rely more on tourism to the hot springs for cash. "There is a village out that way... I need to get to... it." He didn't know if she would still help him, and he also knew redemption wouldn't come to her for helping him, but he wouldn't tell her that. No... right now he needed her to be helpful to him. Not possibly abandon him, or worse.

He was right, of course. She was quite insecure - she always had been and always would be, due to the way her father had treated her. He had always said she was inadequate - that she just didn't compare - that she was a broken tool, a flawed specimen, never good enough. He had put her down constantly for the past decade or so - and his verbal abuse was always accompanied by brutal beatings and torture that had left her covered in scars. Ugly both inside and out.
"Are you going to be alright? Is there something else I can do to help you?" she asked, concerned about how he clutched at his chest - heart problems? She wouldn't even know where to begin to fix those... "Yes, redemption..." she murmured under her breath, eying him warily as if his heart was going to give out and explode any second now - he certainly seemed to be in some excruciating sort of pain despite her efforts.
"Of course." She wouldn't just leave him to die now - not after she had made a point of healing him as best she could. "I'll take you there." Hesitantly, she placed his arm around her shoulders and began to lift him into a standing position. He was taller than she was, by nearly half a foot, but there was no way he weighed more - though that was a tad bit embarrassing to admit.
"So, if you don't mind me asking... who are you?" She placed her right arm around him for support - her left was still holding his arm in place across her shoulders - and began to slowly walk in the direction he'd pointed out. Tera believed the village he wanted to find was Yugakure - what other village was there out here? - whether it was because it was his home, or simply because he needed help that she couldn't provide. Either way, she was determined to get him there in one piece. {words} 341 {tags} kakuzu {notes} --- {lyrics} cold (but i'm still here) by evans blue{credit} akemi of btn |

I aint gonna play the fool anymore
Shadows of nothing
She was so kind. So innocent. So what was it that made her turn onto this path of darkness that they now both shared? She couldn't of perhaps been betrayed by someone she had trusted just like he had been, could she have? No, perhaps it was something else. Something a bit more on the personal level. But what? She never even hesitated for a moment when he had asked her to take him to the village. No instead she awkwardly threw his left arm over her shoulders and assisted him in getting to his feet. She did a rather amazing job a supporting him even though he was nearly a whole six inches taller than her. However, just like when he had sat up, this time when he stood it came, but much worse. That horrible throb dead center in his chest. URGK! Not this again! His nails instinctively clawed at the clothing hovering just above the center area of his chest as his eyes shut themselves tight in a fool hardy attempt to ward off the pain. However it was all to no avail. The pain would not fade for an entire five minutes, and at the time that it did, he felt mentally exhausted as well as physically. When it did at last fade, his hand seemed to relax as well as the rest of his body, but his breathing, for a short time, came in short gasps. "Nngh.,, need to... hurry." Taking a couple of steps, a bit stumbly at first, Kakuzu and Amaterasu would be able to start on down the path now towards the village, and towards where Kakuzu could retrieve a new heart. My name... Hikari..." his left hand balled into a fist for a moment as he took another sharp gasp as a pang of pain swam through his body, "Kohaku..." He would finish his name there. He knew that was enough information to at least remember him from the bingo book entry about him. Not only that, but he also knew that was his one, true, birth name. Mizushima was only added at the end because he was adopted into that family. It took perhaps an hour and another little episode on the bounty hunter's part for them to finally reach the main gates to the village known as Yugakure. While the village here was still known well as a shinobi village, it was on a fast decline, and as such he didn't believe they would run into much trouble here. "Halt there!" Or perhaps he was wrong. Still this proved to be a blessing for the weakened hunter, rather than a curse. A Yugakure shinobi approached the two of them, alone. It seemed that by appearance the village was already lacking in shinobi might and could only afford one man at the gate to invite guests and deter those with malice. That was what he was doing now, attempting to find their purpose. "Who are you and for what purpose have you come here?" He shifted his weight to one foot as he folded his arms across his chest. While he did this, his ivory tresses fell over the corner of his right amethyst eye. "We are travelling mercenaries..." Kakuzu managed to get out despite sounding rather depreciated, "As you can probably tell... I'm wounded... and seek medical attention." The man looked at them with a rather skeptical expression. "Don't believe me? My partner has our papers, however... you'll have to come over here, as you can tell she can't take her arms... off of me." He sounded like he was getting close to another episode, and if his calculations were correct, this would be the last one. The end. However, luck was on his side. The shinobi approached them with intent of reviewing said papers, and as such approached them on their left side. However that was his fatal mistake, for once he was within five feet, Kakuzu decided to strike. He used what little chakra he had remaining, and shot off his arm using his earth grudge fear to grasp the man's neck. It worked without fail, the pathetic wannabe shinobi never saw what was coming, and soon enough black threads would ooze out of the now stub of Kakuzu's left arm and strike towards the shinobi before piercing through layers of clothing into the man's chest. "Thank You...." He spoke to the girl, but didn't exactly specify as he didn't want to use names here.

She hoped it was closer than she thought it was - and that he had the strength to hold out for just a little longer - or else it was going to be a corpse that she was escorting before long. The thought made her shiver. If only she were strong enough to carry him - they would have been able to move at her pace instead of shambling along like this.
Hikari Kohaku... she knew that name. But it was taking her quite a while to connect the name with what little information she had - but when it clicked... He was one of the most notorious rogue shinobi in the entire world. He hadn't been kidding when he said he could end her in seconds. What sort of person - or creature - could cause this much damage to such a fearsome man? That thought was almost more frightening than the fact that she was helping the most wanted man in the shinobi world. Almost.
But wait... This man had been old - for shinobi, anyway - ten or so years ago when she'd seen his bingo book entry. "How old are you?" He had to be more than twice her age - thrice, perhaps - which would make him in his fifties or sixties... No wonder he had heart problems.
She mulled over this new information for the entire hour that it took them to reach the small shinobi village - after he'd had another episode and about scared the living daylights out of her - and she still didn't know what to think. Should she get him to a hospital or whatever and then leave? Should she stay with him and make sure he was alright? Would he even allow her to leave with her life now that she knew who he was?
Tera wasn't really sure what to tell the shinobi guarding the gate - thankfully, despite his condition, Hikari was able to spin a convincing tale. It was the part about the papers that worried her - since no such papers existed - but he obviously had some sort of trick up his sleeve still, or he wouldn't have said that, right?
She was shocked when the old man's arm shot off of his body and grabbed the guard by the throat, and when black threads emerged from the stub and pierced the young man's chest. Tera supposed she should have expected something like that - but she hadn't, and it shocked her. Not to mention he shouldn't have been exerting himself any more than he had to, or it might actually kill him... {words} 478 {tags} kakuzu {notes} --- {lyrics} cold (but i'm still here) by evans blue{credit} akemi of btn |

He grasped his chest firmly as he could feel the next, and probably last episode coming on already. He had no time to waste. Using what little chakra he had remaining at the moment, he forced himself away from Amaterasu, only being capable of taking a few steps towards his catch before falling to his knees. "You... worry about any... one else..." He reeled the man closer to himself before he released his neck as his threads continued to burrow into the man's chest. Then suddenly, and abruptly, Kakuzu straightened his fingers of his left hand out and forced it into the shinobi's chest cavity. A fatal blow. Nngh. Come on, a little bit longer. About two minutes passed and he could feel his chest growing more and more heavy. He could feel his heart ready to spasm uncontrollably. He could feel it coming, and he knew, with just a few seconds, it wouldn't matter. NOW! He grasped the beating organ within the man's chest and suddenly, carefully, yet harshly tore it from his chest cavity. Black threads coiled around the beating organ as if to carefully caress it. As he held the beating organ in his hand with crimson tears dripping down off of the side he heard a voice cry out. "HISUKE!" Company. Fun, but too late. Kakuzu tore away the tattered shirt material that clung to his chest before fully severing the heart from Hisuke's body. At that moment he pulled his left hand to the right side of his chest where stitches held his flesh together, and then, pulled apart the layers of flesh. Carefully pushing his hand with the heart into his own chest cavity, a diabolical grin spread across his face as he set it into place. However just as he did, it happened. The heart attack struck. His eyes grew wide at first from the intense pain, and then slowly they seemed to lose their light as they shut. He had managed to pull his hand free from his chest cavity, but now he fell forward, like a limp rag doll. "ONE'S DOWN! KILL THE OTHER ONE!" The voice called out, and soon shinobi began to appear out of the wood work. It was perhaps ten shinobi in total. All of them rushing forward with intent to end Amaterasu then and there, however, then the unthinkable happened. The 'deceased' Kakuzu sparked to life and shot upwards bashing them all away with a spinning round house kick. He landed skidding to a halt in place with his left hand placed firmly on the ground, his right hand off to the side a bit, and his feet spread apart. "Heh, you lot remind me of the old days. Back when I fought the shodai hokage." His body still ached all over, but he could tend to that later now that he no longer had to fear heart attack.

Oh, no, this wasn't going to end well at all... She didn't want to kill anyone, but if she didn't defend herself and ended up getting both of them killed... Well, to say the least, that would suck. She formed a few hand seals and sheets of paper began to gather around her, sticking to her shoulder blades and building up until they had a distinct shape - angel wings. This usage of her Shikigami no Mai was how she had earned the moniker of Kami Tenshi - the paper angel. Thankfully, the wings weren't just for show - they actually allowed her to take to the air and hover above the shinobi that had discovered what her companion had done to the gate guard.
She wasn't paying attention to what the older man was doing, worry-filled magenta eyes focused only on the shinobi that were arriving. A string of hand seals sent several paper shuriken flying at the enemy that had shouted for the guard, propelled by a well-timed fuuton technique. She looked away, not wanting to see if the shinobi was hit or not - but by the sounds he was making, she'd gotten him - probably in a vital area. Tera flinched. Hopefully, she would be able to make an escape with the other nukenin soon - there was no way they were getting into the village for medical aid now - and they could take the poor man to the hospital and fix him up. If he died, she would feel terrible... but she supposed there was nothing she could do about that now. If she went to heal him herself, they'd just kill her before she could be of any help - and with good reason, of course, because what kind of rogue ninja practically killed someone and then turned around and healed them moments later?
When another man shouted that 'one's down,' Tera looked around frantically to see what had happened to the fearsome rogue - and found that it was not a man that had felled him. His heart had finally given out. And now she was alone against about a dozen shinobi. All of her instincts told her to turn around and flee, and she very nearly did. But then...
Defying all logic, the man that should have been dead rose from the ground and assaulted the Yugakure shinobi. A few of them fled, the shinobi she had injured in tow, not wanting to tangle with the death-defying rogue - or perhaps thinking him a ghost, returned upon the earth for vengeance.
Tera didn't question it. It shocked and surprised her, but at least he was alive. The young woman glided to his side, hovering a few inches off the ground, trying to wipe the terrified and guilty expression off her face. {words} 497 {tags} kakuzu {notes} --- {lyrics} cold (but i'm still here) by evans blue{credit} akemi of btn |

I aint gonna play the fool anymore
Shadows of nothing
Several shinobi fled at the sight of the risen nukenin. Some of them were carting away their injured friend, how he had gotten injured Kakuzu knew not. Perhaps it was Amaterasu's doing, but he didn't think she would actually fight. However upon seeing her shadow cast upon the ground and the odd shape it gained, he turned his head just enough to see her. "Neat trick." With that he stood up fully now, letting his arms fall to his sides, and as they rested there every now and then they would twitch uncontrollably. His crimson and emerald orbs remained trained on the shinobi before them.
"I can tell you're not the type that likes killing. Very admirable. So, I'll do this for you. You sit back, and back me up." He definitely sounded a lot better than he had before, and almost as soon as he was done talking, he rushed forward with remarkable speed for someone his age or in his shape. He easily closed the gap between himself and the next shinobi over before throwing his left arm right through the woman's chest. With a flick of his arm to the side, her body went flying off of the limb. As he did this, he soon found himself faced with a red hot wall of burning embers.
Thinking quickly, he didn't even know if this would work or not, Kakuzu wove several hand seals together in rapid succession. "Suiton: Mizurappa!" Bringing his right hand to his lips he made a small hole with his fore finger and thumb, concentrating chakra in it, and then blew. Much to his luck, water spewed forth and combated the constant stream of flames, and even slowly pushed back to more powerful technique. Slowly and steadily it pushed back the flames until there were none any more, and then Kakuzu dispelled the technique by lowering his hand.
Panting now from the chakra usage, Kakuzu took a couple steps back. Now he would have to fight defensively against an opponent that out numbered him, unless he wanted to consume the rest of his chakra. "By the way, to answer your question, sixty." As he took the moment to talk he took up a defensive stance as a shinobi rushed at him with rather remarkable speed and with sword drawn. Kakuzu knew he could easily disarm the man, then again, perhaps not in his current state.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true]you broke me from the very first night i'd love you 'til the day that i die i'm far too comfortable this time i loved you from the very first night you broke me 'til the day that i die i'm far too obvious this time when you hide, hide inside that body but just remember that when i touch you the more you shake, the more you give away we're far from comfortable this time cold, now we're so cold, mine, and you're not mine, say never we're far from obvious this time { so fall into my eyes and fall into my lies } -- She nodded, touching down behind him, but she didn't let the paper forming the wings dissipate just yet. That was a possible mistake she wasn't going to make. Not today, anyway. "Thank you." she murmured, a little shocked by how well he had recovered. Obviously, he had done something - the corpse of the man named Hisuke was evidence enough of that - but she had no idea what. An advanced medical technique, maybe? She couldn't think of what else it could be - and she doubted the man would be willing to explain it to her, even if she was able to work up the courage to ask him in the first place. And did it really matter how he had done it? So long as he was alright, it didn't matter to her - and what a strange thought, that so long as the most notorious nukenin in the world was alright it didn't matter that he'd had to kill someone for it to happen.
Tera flinched when he punched right through a woman's chest, and looked away, feeling a little queasy. She definitely didn't have the stomach for this. She heard the thump of a body hitting the ground, and she really didn't want to know whether it was the same one, or if he'd gotten another of the poor Yugakure shinobi. The woman knew she wasn't going to be of any use in this fight; the sheets of paper making up her wings lost their cohesive shape and fluttered to the ground around her. And she dropped to her knees, took a deep, shaky breath... and then heaved up her lunch on some of the paper. Poor sheets of paper.
The woman cradled her stomach, looking quite miserable. She really wasn't cut out for this. Thankfully, the older nukenin - the sixty year old man - had a stronger stomach than she. {words} 322 {tags} kakuzu {notes} --- {lyrics} cold (but i'm still here) by evans blue{credit} akemi of btn |

I aint gonna play the fool anymore
Shadows of nothing
"Y.... YOU MONSTER!?" One of the kunoichi cried out as her third comrade's lifeless form hit the ground. She shook in her place as she watched the nukenin hold her comrade's still beating heart in his hand, however, something seemed off, the heart didn't seem adequate. He crushed it causing blood to squish outwards between his fingers. "Monster? Perhaps, but don't you know. In this world of shinobi, samurai, and even monster cats, it is killed or be killed." He held his hands outwards, "Don't trust in the walls of your villages, because they will only betray you the day they crumble to the ground." He curled his fingers inwards a bit and brought his arms closer to himself, "Don't trust in your elders, for one day they may only betray you." He dropped his arms down to his sides, "Monster or not, I live because I don't easily trust. I live because I fight every day to survive." He quickly bridged the gap between himself and the kunoichi now holding her throat in his hand, however only tight enough to keep her still, yet not choke her. "If I'm a monster, what does that make you? A coward?"Then with the sound akin to something like a squish, he tore out her heart with such brute force that accidentally crushed it. Letting her corpse drop to the ground and dared to utter a sigh. "Monster... yes... I am a monster." He brought a bloodied hand up to his lips as he began to have a coughing fit. Around the end of the coughing fit he began to vomit blood. Damn. My injuries are still... It took him a couple of minutes to regain his composure, and at the time that he finally did, he wiped the blood off of his hands and arms and then moved back over to Amaterasu's side. At this point Amaterasu seemed to be violently ill. Likely still squeamish from all of the blood shed Kakuzu had just invoked upon the shinobi. Understandable for someone as young as how she appeared, but not for someone of her reputation. So then, she must really have a strong distaste for killing. Understandable, and admirable. At least she knew how to kill if her own life was in danger. Holding out a still slightly bloodied hand towards Amaterasu Kakuzu would offer to help her up, "Come on, neither of us can afford to remain here now." He had seen some of her ability here today, and already he could tell, she could perhaps be of use to him in the future. Of course, after today, they likely wouldn't travel together. If not for their own safety, being harder to find separate, than for the mere fact that she would likely be disgusted with him for his actions here today.
