The Nara clan has been extremely well known for producing members with rather high I.Q. values. While the idiots of this clan still appear to be just normal citizens of society rather than complete dunces, the Einstein types in this clan have been known to actually be capable of thinking through several plans at a time in combat and being next to unbeatable at shogi.

The Nara Clan possesses a special technique that allows them to manipulate their shadow for a variety of uses. Initially the beginning technique allows clan members to connect their shadow with someone else and then make them imitate their movements, although many techniques are derived from this and each technique has a variety of uses.

Historical Background:

Long ago before Konoha had been founded, the Nara had always been well known for having ties with the Akimichi and Yamanaka clans. Furthermore they were known as strategists and for being capable of manipulating the shadows. As such the Nara clan typically found ways to stay out of conflict during the harsh times before Konoha's founding, and typically advised the Yamanaka and Akimichi clans to do the same.

At last when the Senju and Uchiha clans came together and founded Konoha, the Nara thought that a place of possibly sanctuary may have finally been formed. With the village being located to near a forest in which they dwelled at the time, they decided to keep a close eye on the development of Konoha.

It later proved to be a smart idea of the Nara to stay in the background as Uchiha Madara betrayed the trust of Senju Hashirama and ended up engaging in battle with the man which ended in the deaths of both men. Several years passed as the Nara continued to watch the village from the shadows, however as time passed the Nara eventually saw that the effects of the on going wars was beginning to take a large toll on their family and so after much deliberation within the clan they finally joined konoha by the village's tenth year and have remained with the village ever since having been the last of the ino-shika-cho clans to join konoha's ranks.

Since their joining of konoha the Nara have formed a medical facility deep within the mountains behind the village. There they have been known to store valuable medical records as well as supplies too rare to keep under normal lock and key.
