Instead she was wearing a plain blue shirt and black shorts, and her hair was braided to keep it out of her face. An unhappy expression was plastered across her face as she reluctantly trudged toward a roomy-looking farmhouse. There was an old woman waiting for her on the porch; contrary to what the genin was feeling, the woman was smiling brightly and looked quite happy. "Are you the genin that's supposed to help me?""Yeah, that's me. Just... point me to the mess and I'll clean it, I guess." That was what she was so unhappy about: cleaning. Well, if it had been cleaning the inside of the house, it wouldn't have been so bad. But no. She was going to be cleaning up a farmyard. That was full of animals. And garbage. And was probably really muddy too, considering how recently it had rained. Gross. She was going to get covered in mud and grime and ick and it was going to be horrible and this was so not worth how much she was getting paid. "Here, we'll go through the house." The old lady beckoned her inside and led her through the large house. They walked past the kitchen and she could smell pie crust baking, which made her mouth water. She would much rather have pie than do this mission. "Now, the goats are out grazing because my husband is working in the barn, but as long as you don't provoke them they won't bother you. Please try to keep them from eating anything.""I'll do my best." Iku stepped outside and the woman closed the door behind her. Well, here we go. |

While it wasn't as muddy as she had imagined, there was garbage everywhere, and sure enough, the freaking goats were chewing on it like it was a feast. She didn't like the thought of trying to get the trash off the goats, because that would not end well, so she just let them be for now. It wasn't going to kill them, and hey, they were picking up some of the trash for her. She opened a trash bag and stuck the roll of them that the old woman had given her in a pocket. The genin spent a few more moments surveying the yard before she decided that the best place to start would be at the far end, near the barn. Most of the goats were staying away from it because the old farmer was working on something, and it was making a ton of noise. Iku grimaced. She didn't like the racket either, but she preferred a bunch of noise to a bunch of goats, so... She didn't fancy the thought of picking up all the trash - seriously, who knew what else all the plastic and cans and bits and pieces of things had touched? After this was over she was going to wash her hands so many times it wouldn't even be funny. Well, Kazue would probably laugh at her, but her twin didn't count. She wouldn't be any happier than I am! Man, this whole situation kind of just made her want to kick someone's ass. Kazue was always willing to spar, but most of the time the brunette beat Iku, so that wouldn't be as satisfying as a good ass-kicking. She stooped and began clearing the area of trash, shuddering every time she picked up anything even remotely wet and slimy - which happened more often than one would think. |

She had only irritated a goat once, but nothing bad had come of it, thankfully. And she was so, so ready to leave. Her back hurt and she was sweaty because of the humidity and she was covered in mud and she had a headache because of the old man working up a racket in the barn. Again: this was so not worth how much she was getting paid to do it. "Ugh. Get away from the can, you stupid goat." she grumbled, shoving past the animal and snatching up the can before it could start munching on it. "And don't you even fucking think about headbutting me or some shit like that. You might be a goat but I will kick your ass." The goat blinked at her. "I'll bet it was you that ripped all these bags open in the first place. Stupid animal! I'm stuck cleaning up your mess while you're just sitting here eating grass. What kind of dumb shit is that?"Ranting at the goat did make her feel a little better, though she did hope that the old lady hadn't heard her swearing at the animal. That would make for a really awkward conversation after she had finished... and she realized, after putting the can in the trash bag, that she was done. "It is about goddamn time, I say." she muttered, gathering up the bags of trash and dragging them over to the house. She knocked on the door and the woman opened it. "Where do you want all these?""Oh, you've done enough for us. We'll take care of that. Go ahead and go now that you're done, dear." she replied, smiling warmly at her. "Oh, uh, thanks. Bye!" Iku sped through the house and ran, full speed, toward home and a shower. Probably ten. |
