Akemi stood in a surprisingly well-lit room despite the dull weather conditions outside. Amongst his peers and superiors, she remained with an unimposing aura as she flipped a page in a book entitled, Fuinjutsu: An In-Depth Guide to Seals. Not the most interesting title, but the content was - at least for the Genin - informative. It wasn't that she needed this book, as she was from a clan famous for its sealing skills, but studying the subject beforehand would allow her to fully maximize any future training. Additionally, reading was a good habit and a better way to help pass the time than simply standing looking bored.
The Genin had come to realize that waiting for missions was a common occurrence that he would frequently take part in during her career as a shinobi. Thus is why she had begun to bring books with her since she'd grown tired of occasionally glancing around a room which she had already become familiar with. Located in the academy, the mission center was a wide-open, wooden space with several large windows and a tall ceiling where two lights - which remained off at the moment - were placed on either side of a large kanji that read [忍, shinobi]. Overall, the room had a pleasant atmosphere and it was large enough to accommodate a large number of shinobi without claustrophobia setting in. However, the girl was too engrossed in her reading to appreciate these characteristics.
The room slowly decreased in occupants as they received their assignments. All the while Akemi remained focused on her reading material, a cough escaping from her every now and then. She'd been given unwarranted attention when she first walked in, but at this point, the other shinobi had gotten use to her appearance and the Genin's (fake) coughs were dismissed as well. It seemed there'd be no more eye-catching individuals in the room, that is until a man burst in with a distressed look on his wrinkled face and greying hair curled out of shape (most likely from running).
"My bakery has been infested by rats !" he - whom the teen now assumed to be a baker - said panting, dabbing sweat off his forehead with the sleeve of his grey scrub suit. The bread provider of the village was immediately approached by one of the shinobi tasked with administering missions.
"We'll get this taken care of right away," the Chuunin replied, making eye contact with the first person he saw, who just happened to be Akemi. "This'll need to be taken care of ASAP so go now, quick!" Akemi merely nodded, stepping out of line and hurrying towards the exit, wondering why he would pick a girl for such a task, not that she minded. She was stopped short however, by the baker.
After giving her some unnecessary instructions about the bakery, she nodded once again before proceeding out of the room and into the streets where undesirable weather greeted her.
