The Arctic Fox clan of the Foxes of the Silent Shrine contract are well-known for being both powerful and wise. They are not the leaders; they are the shadows lurking behind the leaders, eternally plotting and planning, as well as offering advice to the leader.

They are the least social of all the fox clans and are difficult to get along with. Arctic Foxes don't like each other, let alone anyone else. It is not advised that novices summon members of this clan because it is more likely that the fox will try to kill them than listen to anything they have to say.

Foxes of this clan are genjutsu masters first and foremost. Some of their weakest genjutsu could give a man nightmares for weeks. And their strongest... well, you don't want to know.

Appearance:

Akuma is a twenty foot tall female arctic fox with a long body and a very fluffy tail. She is pure white, like newly fallen snow, with dark amber eyes that seem to look straight through you. She is regal in stature and always appears immaculate. In summer months, her coat darkens to a pale brown so as not to stand out quite as much. She has eight tails, like many kitsune of myth.

Personality:

Akuma is not an open, friendly creature; she prefers silence and solitude to being around others, except when she has actually developed a meaningful bond with someone (which is quite difficult to do). After the deaths of her eldest sons, she hardened and became icier in tone and attitude than ever before. As the advisor to the supreme leader of the foxes, she is known to be extremely wise and intelligent, and on occasion, quite sassy.

Taijutsu: Kitsune can use their tails to great effect in physical fights, to pick up and throw people or slam them into things.

---Special Abilities:

Kitsune Shapeshifting: All kitsune have the ability to change their size, number of visible tails, and the color of their fur, to a limited extent. Only the most powerful kitsune can shift to any combination of those three that they want; younger and less powerful kitsune can use only the most basic changes, like lightening their fur a shade or two.

Foxfire/Katon Manipulation: All kitsune have the ability to manipulate foxfire, while manifests as either a ghostly purple fire or a translucent yellow light, expelled from either their mouths or their tails. This also leads to manipulation of the katon element and its techniques, though most kitsune prefer just shooting fire at things, as opposed to using techniques.

Doton Manipulation: Doton is a common secondary element for kitsune, as they tend to be very in tune with the earth. Powerful kitsune can manipulate the earth element as well as the majority of shinobi.

Genjutsu: Kitsune are masters of illusion, and as such, are adept at the art of genjutsu should they choose to learn it. Their illusions are particularly vivid.

Kitsune Seduction: A form of genjutsu unique to kitsune; using the swaying of their tails (as only kitsune with five or more tails can use this ability) they put the victim into a world created entirely in the kitsune's mind, usually full of blood, gore, and spirits. The best way to break out of the seduction is to have another person turn you away from the kitsune; as soon as your line of sight with the tails is broken, the seduction loses all effects.

Appearance:

Shiroi is the spitting image of his mother Akuma, down to the finest detail; if you saw the two standing side by side, you would imagine him as a smaller version of her, as he stands only eight feet tall. In the summer, his coat changes to a deeper shade of brown. He is the youngest of Akuma's three sons, and the only one still living. He has five tails, like many kitsune of myth.

Personality:

Shiroi is a very warm and friendly fox, the opposite of his frigid mother. He's more childlike than even the youngest foxes, always wanting to play games and goof off. He doesn't have a serious side at all, despite his age, and though he is intelligent it can be quite hard to tell.

Appearance:

Seimei is a four foot tall arctic fox with bright blue eyes. His fur is more of a light gray than white, and like the rest of his family, it darkens to a sandy brown in the summer, perfect for blending in with the dunes of Sunagakure. He is the older of Shiroi's children by about five minutes, and never lets his little sister forget it.

Personality:

Seimei is a generally jovial young fox that loves to play, especially when playing equals getting to climb all over the big foxes. He loves the thrill of the fight even though he isn't very strong, and his confidence is by far his most evident trait. Seimei often teases his younger sister Oujou about how their fur differs, their slight age difference, and anything else he can think of.

Appearance:

Oujou is a three and a half foot tall arctic fox with dark blue eyes. Her fur is a pristine white like that of her father and grandmother, darkening to a barely sand-colored shade in the summer. She is the younger of Shiroi's two children by about five minutes, though she is more powerful than her brother.

Personality:

Oujou is most like her grandmother Akuma in temperament: utterly frigid. She's never been kind, and adopted Akuma's attitude from a very young age. Oujou is haughty and believes that she is better than most foxes, including her brother, and says often that she's going to take over as supreme leader of the houses when she's older, and even claims that she knows how to manifest nine tails, which not even Akuma has ever done. She greatly resents her brother's teasing.
