Clan Surname: Tsubasa Clan's Location: Tsuchi no Kuni Clan Origin: Tsuchi no Kuni Special Traits: ABILITIES: The Tsubasa Clan is best known for their Clay based abilities. Meaning they can manipulate clay with their chakra and even form it with their chakra by expelling it from their gullet. Using this clay they can perform various techniques, techniques that are typically weak against raiton and even stronger against suiton due to clay being an earth based substance.
DISTINCTIVE TRAITS: Members of the Tsubasa clan typically have a set of traits that distinctly points out that they are a Tsubasa. These traits are their distinctly noticeable ivory hair and crimson eyes. On top of this, no matter the kind of working out a Tsubasa does, Tsubasa men typically cannot build a body builder body, instead their genes tend to keep their body's shape more in that of a runner or possibly swordsman which is thin, lean, and flexible. This typically allows a Tsubasa better mobility, untrained than most other untrained shinobi.
Tsubasa that are born in Iwagakure before or during the war also typically have the clan symbol tattooed somewhere on their body. Tsubasa attain this tattoo upon graduating from the academy to signify their becoming shinobi adults.
CLAN PERK: +1 to Ninjutsu Historical Background: Long before the villages had been formed, families, better known as clans due to their size, were typically nomadic peoples that tended to bicker and conflict with other clans. However there was one single clan that typically strayed away from the other clans. Having grown attached to their clay art, the clan known as Tsubasa (翼; Wing) lived in the rocky mountains that dotted the landscape of what would one day become known as Tsuchi no Kuni. They lived there for the clay enriched soil that they could attain through the simplest of methods. However, food was scarce in the mountains, thus the clan often sent out squadrons of members to act as a sort of traveling merchant and travel around to the small villages that may dot other landscapes and trade sculptures for food. However this method was not exactly a secure method to attain food as war and ambushes were frequent during that time. The caravan was ambushed multiple times, leaving no one alive each and every time, only the next caravan would discover their bodies.
The Tsubasa were becoming more and more agitated with the assaults upon their people. Before long they began using their own unique, clay based, techniques on other clans as a sort of path to revenge, and as a way to keep from starving to extinction or worse. Well these small conflicts soon rose to all out war with three of the other near by clans that resided within the mountains. For many decades, four clans, one of clay, one of earth, and one of lava, one of water, continued to feud. However, as original sentiment of the reasoning behind the feud died, and as the Tsubasa found their number dwindling the Tsubasa finally caved. Under the guidance of a new clan leader, the clan managed to negotiate a peace with the other three clans. It would take much negotiating and several decades, but eventually the four clans would even ban together and form a small village. That village was the predecessor to what is now known as Iwagakure.
Tsubasa, Sora was the clan's leader during their involvement in the village known as Sanka. He had done a great many things for the clan as well as helped build their clan's trust in the other clans, however one night tragedy struck. Sora, and the three other clan leaders were assassinated. Soon conspiracy began to spread through the village and feuds broke out again. Refusing to become part of the fighting due to their small numbers that Tsubasa clan utilized their special flight techniques to flee high into the mountains. The village Sanka was destroyed that night soon after the Tsubasa left by the result of volcanic eruption.
A month after Sanka was destroyed, the Tsubasa received word of a new more stable settlement having been formed. With a new leader at the helm, the Tsubasa once again decided to put their clan's trust in the other clans and decided to join the village of stone bringing with them much needed supplies.
Since settling in at Iwagakure the Tsubasa have since lost their flight technique with the death of their last leader during the reign of the second tsuchikage. However they continue to work with their skills in ninjutsu developing more dangerous and nifty hiden clay techniques.
