Lately things with the team weren't so much team things as they were 'Shindama and Yasuhiro' things. As rivals, friendship was a vital component of a healthy relationship with each other, something that naturally occurs without anyone having to instigate it. Their time together having been gradually increasing lately, the higher-ups of the village took notice, and decided that their harmless rivalry would be an excellent opportunity to assign them a mission together. This way they might learn something about teamwork which they could apply to their whole genin squad.
"Aight. Shin and I will do this mission so quickly and so baws, you'll have to promote us!", he said bluntly to their assigner. The fact that they were escorting royalty didn't even have anything to do with it. Hiro just gets fired up by Shindama. If there was any motivation for him to not be lazy, it was the Senju boy.
"...but mostly I...", he then uttered under his breath, still expressing an arrogant thought to himself.
After the mission briefing was over, the assigner called their client to the office. Another child - about the same age as the boys - and utterly stunning to any pubescent kid such as them. She walked in wearing a light pink kimono with a purple sash tied into a bow on the posterior side of her waist and a white flower pattern. Her silky black hair was tied into one of those weird knot things that Hiro never understood, and her big blue eyes and milky pale skin hypnotized the boy for a moment.
"This is [indistinct]", said the assigner, and the girl introduced herself.
Having spaced out in awe, Yasuhiro didn't catch a single syllable of her name. He didn't even know if her name had more than one syllable. He just knew that he was gonna win her over Shindama. Already there was an air around him that suggested some sort of mishap would occur during the mission just because of his liking her already. The assigner had a total srsface expression going on, but the boy didn't give a hoot. He just wanted to get this mission started.
They made their way out of Konoha's gates to escort the girl to Shukuba Town, Hiro being a total g with his cool demeanor, expressing general indifference toward everything just to impress the girl.
He still did not know her name.

The two were at it again, only living for one thing, and one thing only. What they were born to do, be Shinobi, and make a name for themselves. Neither of the boys would stop until they were on top. Aside from their renown rivalry, they both had an odd way of working well together. So, naturally, the Hokage had started sending them on many tasks.
When Shindama, who was standing next to Yasuhiro, heard him talk about how easy the mission would be. He just smirked, giving a thumbs up to the Jounin. Luckily he did not hear what Yasuhiro muttered, he was too busy being proud. Their boasting lasted but a second, the Jounin welcomed in their client. For a second Shindama looked a bit dumbfounded, for such a young girl she was beautiful. At least in any young boys eyes she was beautiful. One day, she would grow up to be quite the gem. Local lords, and ladies rushing to have their children married off to her.
Although, ninja were a different breed. Cocky, arrogant, soldiers... Most of them think they can have any girl they want. Because their art, their craft was glorious and could woo anyone who could not use it.
Shindama, well, he was a breed all his own. While Yasuhiro seemed to not pay attention in a dazed way. The Senju acted in another. His ignorance was initiated by him quickly stepping forward "Hi I'm Shindama, you are very pretty!" he was blunt. Immediately the girl opened her eyes wide, almost scared. As this occurred, the Jounin gritted his teeth and grabbed Shindama's head and made him bow as he also lightly bowed his head. "I'm very sorry, please ignore him," as he said the girl just stepped back, covering her mouth with her pink kimono sleeve.
The small meeting came to an end, the boys and the girl were now gone. While his colleague, Yasuhiro, acted calm and collected, Shindama was not so much. As their client began walking ahead of them, Shindama slowly fell back to meet up with Yasuhiro. His almond hues fixed on her silky black hair. "Goggles, did you happen to catch her name?" he asked, "I don't think the instructor told us." It was a clear act of ignorance, he did tell them, Shindama just failed to listen. At this point it was obvious that the Senju showed interest in her. Interests that could possibly set off another competition between the two Genin.

Not long after they were past the gates, Shindama asked Yasuhiro about the girl's name. Unfortunately...
"Nah man, that older guy didn't tell us squat! What are we supposed to call her?", he responded just loud enough for Shindama to hear and just low enough for the girl not to.
As they walked on the dirt road Hiro tried to come up with a clever name to use when referring to their female client, but all that went on in his head were fantasies of softcore sexual nature. Suddenly he wasn't even on the mission, he was in some sort of pseudo-hentai world where a high-pitched voice would rhythmically dictate the sounds of... what was going on, along with saying a few words which described the event. Whatever Shindama would respond to him, if anything, would probably get distorted in Hiro's head.
Meanwhile, deep in the woods, amidst trunks and dense undergrowth, ruffians dwelt. In the darkness they scurried, repeating their plans in illicit whispers, awaiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. Three ugly fellows with dishonorable intentions, they were in it for the money, and nothing more. As usual, the world of politics was in discord. Nobody would ever settle for whichever authority figure held power over their heads, but rather find issues to complain about.
It was one of these unfortunate opinions that led to the planned assassination of the Daimyō's daughter. Albeit an amateurish one.
Goggles was daydreaming. That was for sure. Everything that occurred in his fantasy, he wanted to do to the noble girl. It would ruin her, make her filthy. But like any ninja, his senses were finely tuned. It's not like he was incapable of detecting their presence, of hearing some ominous rustling of leaves within the overgrown plant life of the Land of Fire. He was just too much of an idiot to pay close attention at the time. Yet the gist of his feelings was that something was off.
Hey... This is the Daimyō's daughter... Shouldn't we take this a bit more seriously?
Then, a louder sound from the right, and he shifts his head at it-
"Hm?"

At first, the rustle of nearby leafs was ignored by the Senju. He was busy just yapping away at Yasuhiro. The Uchiha of course was not listening to a word he said. "You know I--" who knows what he could have been saying. It got to the point where Shin was just talking to himself, facing away from Yasuhiro even. The two were of course not taking anything seriously.
Until... a loud crackle of branches exploded in everyone's ear. Three bandits, mercenaries hired to kill the Land of Fire's princess; so she was sometimes called. They smelled bad, looked bad, and fought... surprisingly good. The first one was big, not fat, but muscular in an almost intimidating way. A titan of a man, wielding a very large kanabo, similar to an Oni demon.
The large one must have been who was creating the noise. Because the other two were small ,fast guys. They both wielded tanto, and poorly made ones at that. Wielding simple weapons they probably put together themselves they charged.
In that split-second of commotion, Shindama was light on his feet. To the bandits he would be fast, it was his ninja training. He stepped over in front of Yasuhiro and looked at him; speaking quickly. "Get the girl," he said this because Yasuhiro's superior shurikenjutsu. If Shindama could keep them busy up close, Yasuhiro could protect the Daimyo's daughter and support him from a distance. This is one thing that made them such a great team, Shindama was one of the few Genin who was not a Hyuuga who could perform adequate taijutsu. While Yasuhiro had his natural clan talent with projectiles. Shin just hoped his companion knew what he meant.
This little tag-team could go two ways. Either they both get ahead of themselves and die; or work well together. One could only hope the second one would be the case.
In an instant Shindama was clashing, flipping a shuriken around his index finger with utter swag. The spinning continued until he gripped the handle, it was positioned backwards so the blade faced down. With this he clashed with the large kanabo managing to hold it at bay, but for how long? It was at this point up to Yasuhiro to stop the two smaller goons from dicing up Shindama. He would also have to secure the princess at the same exact time. It was up to the boys to sync, almost as a single unit.

It would seem that Yasuhiro's instincts were right. Three bandits, one bigger than the others, jumped out of the bushes or trees or whatever to attack the three kids. Luckily for them, they weren't ninja, though at least Yasuhiro didn't know that. Not right away anyways. He activated his sharingan instinctively.
Immediately Shindama got in front of Hiro and told him to 'get the girl'. There was no time to think, but he just jumped in front of her in an instant, because people could do that. Really. It's called 'shunshin'. They were right behind her, so it wasn't hard. Thinking about it, Shindama was more of a close-up fighter. So it would make sense that he meant for Hiro to stay by the girl - who had shrieked - and get the enemy from a distance with his superior shurikenjutsu skill. With that in mind, he reached into the holsters strapped to his thighs, as reaching into his jacket's pockets would lower mobility.
By skillfully maneuvering wires and shuriken with his fingers he pulled out a shuriken in each hand, already equipped with wire. He lunged them both at the two smaller dudes with the tantō, manipulating the wires with his hands and fingers so as to increase his accuracy and precision. He got the one on the right, the wire tangling up on his arms, his sword only managing to cut the wire as the shuriken entered his left jugular. The one on the left though, was a bit trickier.
Blood spattered from the victim's neck onto his partner, though the latter moving more gracefully, and thus evading any lethal cuts. Just like before, Hiro had utilized a yo-yo principle after guiding the shuriken with his wire, in order to wrap the wire around the right hand which was holding the short sword. This way he would cut off the enemy's maneuverability with their weapon, and in the process, he had inflicted small cuts on the man's forearm.
This hand-trapping would not last. By just swinging his arm forward and in a downward motion, he would slice the wire with his blade. The portion of the wire which tangled up his hand remained however, as the shuriken it was equipped on dug itself into the man's hand. Screaming wrathfully he rushed forward, clearly wanting to kill the boy who wounded him.
Hiro reached into his left holster again, this time taking out a kunai. He lunged it at the charging man, only for him to barely evade it, resulting in only a horizontal cut on his left cheek. While he had done that though, Hiro had reached into his belt pouch for two shuriken, and lunged them both at the man. He had done so in a somewhat crouched position, throwing the shuriken low enough that the second one wouldn't be seen under the first one.
Effectively, the man saw the top shuriken and blocked it away with his sword. The second one, dug into his navel. In the one moment he had ceased his dashing at the children, Hiro took out another kunai from his left holster, and lunged it at the man's neck. This time blood gushed out in a spray, creating a pool as the man fell to the ground.
From this it was evident that these guys weren't ninja. Despite being rookies, Hiro and Shin were a lot more agile, and the bandits weren't that effective at evading simple projectile tools.
"Are you alright?", he said to the girl.
"Y-yes...", she replied, teary-eyed.
This girl hadn't seen much violence in her short life, let alone crude death right in front of her. Yasuhiro himself sounded strange as he spoke. What he had just done was definitely not in him were he not acting on instinct. He could see their chakra, but the men he had just defended himself and the girl from were slowly fading away. There was blood all over the ground, and they very slightly, very quietly moaned. It sounded as if they were drowning in their own blood. Hiro just stood there for a moment, trying to process the fact that he may have very well ended the life of two people in trying to defend one.
Dammit... Wake up, idiot. These guys just tried to kill you. This is... Normal for a ninja... Yeah... Isn't it?
His thoughts were logical, but there was still doubt in his mind. Maybe that's just what comes with being a predominantly shurikenjutsu user. He handles sharp tools, which can easily kill. He should be prepared for this. In second-guessing his actions for a moment, Shin's existence had faded out just then, but he could see the big man moving from the corner of his eyes. He opened them widely, and realized that his friend, Shin, about as small as himself, was fighting a large man with a big club-like weapon.
"Shin...!" - he exclaimed - "Hold on, dude!"
Hiro immediately took out the folded fūma shuriken from his belt pouch, ready to throw it at the overgrown bandit, but...?

For a second, Shindama felt as if he bit off more then he could chew. Three raher deadly opponents surrounding him. It could have quickly been an end to the boys short, ad-libed life. Although, he was right to put that life in the hands of his Uchiha companion. The other two men had been taken away from Shindama, giving him free reign to deal with the large fellow.
Without anymore delay, Shin pushed up, off the kanabo with his kunai. Even if it was only for a small portion of movement room. This small opportunity would be all that the Senju would need to act out. He might not have been a master in the ninja arts, but compared to bandits, it was like he was on another level. The big man, who already built up tension, could not avoid what happened next. The large, ugly, clumsy, kanabo went hurling into the dirt road. With that small bit of room, Shindama had managed to stride to the side.
A cloud of dirt emitted off the ground, surrounding the two, creating some what of a smokescreen for Shin. Not being an expert with a blade, he quickly looked to dispose of the kunai in an effective and aggressive manner. Utilizing it, so it was not just a waste to take out and block with. Twirling it yet again, he stabbed it into the hand of the large man. In doing so, he had hopped to seize anymore usage of the large bludgeon like object. To insure that it would not be used, Shindama stepped on it. His footing was for more then just holding it down, at the same time her levitated himself up. Jumping, to have his knee meet the guy's face. The hit was a success, but not for very long.
As soon as he ad taken action, his time was up. The quick blow barely even affected the bandit. In seconds he grabbed Shindama by the ankle, and quickly swung him away into a tree. It hurt, but nothing the Genin would bother crying over, as the clumsy, ill-footed man came stomping over, Shin was preparing his net attack. Not only physically but mentally, as he pushed himself off the ground. He seemed to be trying to ignore every bit of pain he might of felt from the collision. It was obvious that he valued his own life more then worrying about minor wounds.
Shin quickly crouched down, avoiding any possible reach, taking advantage of his height and clumsy footing. He slid his smaller limb; his leg, in between the running man's feet. Once again using his size, and built up tension against himself. He managed to trip the titan, causing him to smack his head into the tree, some what catching himself. Although catching himself from falling was probably his worst mistake. Shindama was on the offense even more now, throwing a punch into his rib cage. The bandit, ill-prepared for this attack, grabbed his side. Only to have Shindama throw a heavy kick into his gut, knocking the wind right out of it.
A serious face submerged Shin's face, he was in his comfort zone. Fighting; it had to be his second love, aside from fishing. In all the tension surrounding the two, it was obvious who was winning the small quarrel. The faster, more nimble, Shindama. It was to be expected from a Senju, it was speculation that their bodies were naturally strong.
As the bandit began to fall over, gripping his gut, his head pulsating with pain, and his rubs shattered. The one thing he was thinking was "how do i get out of here," slowly he stumbled over towards Yasuhiro and the Daimyo's daughter. Only to have himself fall over, unconscious now.
Shindama had heard Yasuhiro say something, he was now less serious. His tensed expression faded and he went back to having a goofy smile. The dust cleared and he walked over to Yasuhiro and the princess.
"You can put the tool away Yasuhiro, I think that is all of them," Shindama said, but was not finished, "You two okay? we should probably hurry so we can report this and insure utter safety, there might be more on the way." He seemed to be completely attuned to strategic, ninja-self. Even if his demeanor and exterior made him look like just some happy kid. One thing was obvious, he shrugged off the small fight, happy he did not have to kill anyone. An while he noticed what Yasuhiro did, he would not choose now to bring it up.

Yasuhiro would've thrown the fūma shuriken at the large man fighting Shindama, but before he could, the big guy was already down. Dust kicked up into the air as his heavy body hit the ground, and from it came forth Shindama, same dumb face as always, or so Hiro thought to himself. Goggles was baffled at a boy his own size having defeated a much bigger man, and so quickly too.
Tch, I guess he's my rival., he thought to himself up on that pedestal he's always on.
The boy had a point though. While their client was just a little girl, she was also the Daimyō's daughter. There were two possibilities: they would send only a single mercenary unit to kill a little girl, or they would send several groups, placed in different strategic locations, to increase the chances that the girl would die. Highly unlikely, that latter eventuality, but Yasuhiro remained cautious. "I'll keep my eyes peeled." he responded to what Shindama said, since he could discern different chakra sources.
"Will I be okay?", said the girl as she watched Hiro fold the fūma shuriken up again and put it back in his belt pouch.
The way she said that almost bothered Yasuhiro, since it sounded like she didn't care about him and Shindama at all, but he shrugged it off as just her being a snotty brat. She was the client after all, and it was their job to protect her.
He just replied: "Of course you will. You've got us watching your back", as if they were the hottest shit or something. He shifted his head to both sides, carefully scanning the woods for any weird chakras, but all he could find were small, animal-sized, animal-shaped sources. It looked like the coast was clear, so he was ready to keep moving.
"I don't see anything, Shin. I think it's safe, for now."

Shindama acknowledged Yasuhiro's reply, his sharingan would be on the look out. The Senju had complete faith in his partner's Kekkei Genkai capabilities. He made sure he knew with just a head nod. Things settled down, and Shindama went back to being a goof. Not exactly goofing off but, the vibe in the air was more calmed and happy. Shin continued to look around, as the princess and Yasuhiro talked. He seemed to be completely ignorant to her selfish remark. Not that he needed to pay attention, Yasuhiro was handling it.
"Oi, let's go," Shin said as he began walking slightly ahead. The boy was ready for another attack even if he seemed relaxed. He left the Daimyo's daughter to stick to Yasuhiro. As he would be able to see an attack coming much better then he himself could. While the two would not boast about one another, Shin felt as if there was a mutual respect. Even if Yasuhiro did not feel the same way, Shin felt it.
The three continued on, the town where their client were was up ahead. "Yasuhiro... we finally made it, how is her Highness doing?" he asked Yasuhiro, seeming to talk past the girl. Placing his hands on his hips he turned around walking backwards. Smiling at the two, his expression showed that he was happy to finally complete their mission.
The sun had began to go down, they took longer then expected. Or maybe they were faster then expected. Regardless they made it there safe, without a scratch on the females head. He was pretty proud of this, it was his first C-Rank mission, which would be on his record forever. The three continued, Shindama tuning around to face the town, heading towards it with utmost haste.

In a display of young manliness, the two boys had succeeded in protecting the girl against the dirtbags that were alive (or at least conscious) a few moments ago. She didn't say anything, but Hiro could tell - she wanted the D. Her big blue eyes glistened at their heroic deeds, her body itching to have some boy toy though mostly just Hiro.
They walked and walked, making their way toward their destination. No unusual sources of chakra anywhere. The coast was entirely clear the whole way. Small attempts at making conversation were made by the horny female, though as Hiro didn't know her name, every single try led to awkward replies. He didn't pay attention to when she tried with Shin, though he imagined the case was the same since he didn't know her name either.
Eventually they were close enough to Shukuba Town to see the welcoming gates, and as they neared their first C-Rank mission success, Yasuhiro felt another surge of pride in him which enabled him to shamelessly puff his chest - a natural expression in his current hands-behind-head posture.
Just as they were about to reach the gates, he spoke after giving Shin a wink that said You know she's wet.
"Well, here you are, safe and sound. No need to thank us. It's what we do."
"W-Wha..."
He was just so baller. His demeanor and words reflected the full scope of his masculine might, testosterone dominating every young cell in his body. Such protagonist ladies' man material...
Meanwhile, the girl's actual feelings were conflicted. These boys were weird and arrogant, but she couldn't stand their swag. So much awesome to take in all at once, she went in to kiss Goggles on the cheek. Despite wanting to do more, she had to be a 'proper lady' in public.
'I'll get sticky with you next time, woman.' he told her with the supremely baws look on his face.
Hells yeah.

They finally arrived, within the town gates. Some of the Daimyo's men were standing there, noticing the princess right away. They rushed over to Shindama since Yasuhiro was busy. They were all talking at once so it was hard to make out. He pretty much got that they were asking about the journey and such. It was obvious that they were worried. Surprised to see such young boys take on the task of escorting royalty. But they did, with no fail.
Shindama basically just nodded and smile at the men as they ditched him to get the princess. They began leaving, heading off to probably meet another escort which would take them to the palace. The journey was over for Shin and Hiro, the two boys now standing near each other. Shindama was waving with a big toothy smile on his face, until they were out of sight.
The Genin turned to look at Yasuhiro before walking off, expecting Yasuhiro to come. They were done, their first C-Rank mission had been completed. Now all that was left was to report to Konohagakure no Sato. Shindama had received a written letter thanking the Genin for their hard work from the men. It had the royal seal and everything to show its authenticity.
Their journey back was drawn out and boring, no excitement to speak of. A few miniscule conversations here and there. Maybe some competitive banter back and forth. When they returned it was basically getting dark. They showed the letter to the Hokage and they were given their reward. The two boys got a good pat on the back and a "well done." They collected their reward and went home for a well deserved rest. They split ways from here, not many words were exchanged. Shindama decided to stop on his way home and get something to eat, he was starved.
