[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,5,true][atrb=style, width: 400px; bTable; ] [atrb=style, padding: -5px; height: 400px;] It was hard to conduct business when one did not have an office. Not that Hashi liked offices. They were always stuffy, badly ventilated places but holding meeting with others would be so much easier that way. He had been conducting interviews with Kasumi's closest relations all day. Well not the closest ones but more like people who were around her as much as possible and doing as little of that as they could Those who did that, funnily enough, were usually not a common factor in her every day life. And so it was that Hashi sat in the Daimyo's own living room interviewing her staff and relatives while she was out doing who knows what who knows where with who knows whom.
Hashi sighed and sat back rubbing his temples. There was no smoking in the Daimyo's household and it was giving him something of a tension headache. After a few moments he sat forward in the armchair he had flopped down upon and picked up a file from the coffee table in front of him. He had set up an armchair across from him for the interviewee to sit.
It was the Daimyo's own daughter coming up next. Genda Madoka of the Konoe Clan. She was thirteen and had recently been assigned her first squad. The odd part was that her sensai was her very own brother. Generally they tried not to place Genin with Sensai that they had personal ties with. It could make for a whole mess of trouble. The whole thing stunk and, from what he'd heard through the grapevine, it turned out her brother hated her. Hashi didn't know whether Nagawa, Madoka's half brother, hated her because he thought she was the reason Kasumi had got her foot in the door or whether he hated her simply because she was related to the woman. Hell, it could have been a different reason altogether. Hashi didn't know all the details that had happened from the Lady Daimyo's rise to power but he was determined to try and fix this family one way or another. It wasn't exactly his job but his job wasn't really a job either so he had to occupy his time...

| [atrb=style, opacity: 0.8; margin-bottom: -10px;] She had been given a rather odd job to do today, something of a request from her mother really. And because the women had asked her to do it Madoka had agreed to go. The place had been her own house and the task was a very simple one in fact. All she had to do was talk to the man who had been appointed her mothers body guard. She already liked the guy even though she hadn’t met him yet, anyone who was going to protect her mother was someone she could look up to. He had come to the house and had taken over the living room in order to talk to all the servants and her. She felt slightly nervous about the hole ordeal though she wasn’t sure why, she was in her own house and they were going to talk about her family so it wasn’t like he was going to pop quiz her on anything she wouldn’t know how to respond to. She had spent the whole morning wandering about the house as she watched servant after servant venture into the living room to be questioned and checked out. She had never suspected any of the servants to be out to get them they were al far to scared of her mother and her abilities to be brave enough to try anything. And well Nagawa was always in a bad mood and would have most likely killed any of them for looking at him wrong. No there was nothing about any of her current family that would warrant needing such questions and precautions, though the small rift between Nagawa and her mother. Either way she had lost herself wondering about what might happen when one of the servants tapped her on the shoulder “ Mistress that boy the new bodyguard is looking for you now” Madoka nearly jumped out of her skin in surprise but nodded as she tried to recollect a calm composer, really there was nothing to be so nervous about! she tapped lightly on the door before sliding it open " you wanted to see me ?" she asked him sheepishly.

Hashi stood not wanting to appear rude in front of the Daimyo's own daughter. “Yes, I did Miss Madoka. Would you care to take a seat?” He asked motioning to the empty armchair at the other side of the table. He had cleared the files off of the table. In his experience files made people nervous. No one liked to think others had secret information on them even if they knew it was for their own good.
Hashi sat back down as she, presumably, did. This would have been a perfect moment to take a puff from his pipe but, unfortunately, that was all but impossible. “Okay, as you may or may not be aware I have been assigned to the protection of our fair Daimyo, your mother, and the first thing any good bodyguard does is get a feel for the elements that surround the client's life. Of course as her daughter you are both very important to her and see her quite a bit more than others. Is that right? Do you spend a lot of time with your mother?”
Hashi may have seem distracted because of the nicotine withdrawal but his shinobi senses were still acute. His eyes scanned her body for any signs of abnormal agitation or the tell-tale reactions of lying. Hashi really wasn't expected to find out that her daughter had murderous intentions to the Daimyo. He did, however, suspect the girl would be either unwilling to talk about her families troubles or ignorant of them entirely perhaps.

| [atrb=style, opacity: 0.8; margin-bottom: -10px;] She watched as the man stood and greeted her addressing her so nicely and offering her a seat in her own living room, no this wasn’t weird or odd at all. However she complied with his wishes and moved across the room to take a seat in the not so comfy chair he had pointed to, really if he had known how evil this one piece of furniture was. There was always room for payback later and she was going to make sure he felt the torture of this moment as well, perhaps she would let him see the second living room and make him sit on all the hard stuffy chairs her mother liked to collect. Yes that did seem like a fairly good idea now that she thought about it, however it seemed as if he was going to start talking and well Madoka didn’t wish to be rude to him, he was new to this place and well he would learn sooner or later. Well he really was taking this job rather seriously and Madoka had to give him credit, the others had left so suddenly after a bit of time alone with her mother. Most likely due to jealously she had always thought never knowing that after being molested by their charge they had changed positions rather quickly.
“ Actually the only time I spend with my mother is during training, I used to spend grand amounts of time with her when I was little before father died but after his death and her move to a new position her time had been spent else where so really you could say I don’t know much about my mother anymore. Shes always at work until really late and most of the time I go to bed before she gets home and when I wake she is either sleeping because of a headache and not to be disturbed or already back to work. “ yes it was very hard on Madoka now that her mother seemed to be so busy with such important work, however she still loved the women even if she wasn’t around all the time.

Hashi nodded thoughtfully. The young Genin might not have thought she was giving him anything but this was very enlightening indeed. So far all he had received was accounts of the Daimyo's naughtiness and cleaning schedules but now he was hearing a completely different side. A mother and daughter bond fractured by the death of their respective husband and father. The Daimyo's new position taking up her time and, perhaps, her grief driving her into the company of the men she was said to frequent which, incidentally, took up most of the other time leaving poor old Madoka out in the cold. Things were becoming very clear to Hashi now.
“It is a very important position that she is in and I know that can make it hard to keep a family life too. I am sure, after a time, the Lady will find some way to make it work and you shall spend as much time as you used to once again.” Hashi comforted the girl before continuing with his questioning “I apologise in advance to encroach on such a personal issue but is their anything you can tell me about your father? Do you remember much of him?” Hashi asked trying to put it as tenderly as possible. He didn't want to snoop into all of this family business but, in truth, it seemed like the biggest threat to his charge there was. The family had a big, dark secret and secrets usually turned out to be more dangerous than any one man ever could.
