turn me up when you feel low,
The day young with a sun having broke the horizon only about an hour ago, and yet there was a clinic full of people just waiting to be looked at. Some were ill, others suffering from injury but all in need of help. Tetsu sighed as he changed from his usual garb into that of a proper Iryo-nin: all white scrubs and latex gloves. He had foregone the silly looking hat for the sole reason that it was, indeed, silly looking. Besides, what was the purpose of having flowing red locks if you had to keep it covered up underneath a flimsy and extremely unappealing hat? There was some middle ground, however, as the Uzumaki did tie it back in a pony tail as not to get in the way during examinations. He did this every time he worked in the hospital, which was nearly every day, so the boy was sure to bring some kind of hair band with him from home.
This routine clinic duty had been instituted years before the boy and his family had moved to Kusagakure from their refugee camp, so there was little he could do to avoid it the first time it came around when he first started working at the hospital. When his skills were at a lesser stage the fatigue from healing usually always got to him, though as the years passed Tetsu was able to do more while expending less chakra. After all, this was only the clinic so none of the ailments were that severe to begin with. Anything over a possible broken bone or decent sized cut was sent directly to the emergency personnel to handle. Tetsu never envied them as they were often called to do extreme tasks on little notice and in a short amount of time, not to mention the minute turnover between cases which had them using a fair bit of chakra in a short bit of time.
Granted, all pure blood Uzumaki's were gifted with exceptional chakra reserves so it was a mystery why the boy had not been assigned to the emergency response team yet. Perhaps it was due to the dislike some of the staff had for him due to his smoking. They always commented on how the air wreaked of smoke whenever the boy entered a room and often chided him with remarks about how he was shortening his life span. Hilarious, to be honest considering his chosen profession. Being a shinobi meant that death was always a very real possibility on any given day, so why not enjoy every day by doing what he loved? To that they question they never had an answer, and they never would.

turn me up when you feel low,
The list of files seemed a mile high, it was amazing how many people could injure themselves or catch some sort of cold in the course of a few hours. Hell, if Tetsu didn't have to do clinic duty he'd probably still be sleeping, or off smoking somewhere. Perhaps he would pitch some sort of wellness initiative to the heads of staff in hopes of lessening the multitudes of injuries that always seemed to occur on clinic duty day. No matter, continuing to complain about it wouldn't make this day go by any faster so there was nothing else to do except get 'er done.
The first room the medic walked into had what seemed like an entire family in it, both immediate and extended. For a minute Tetsu flashed back to his own decently sized family, and all of those siblings that ran around his house on a daily basis. Sitting on top of the chair/lounge hybrid was a young boy, probably no older than eight who had his left arm in some kind of makeshift cast; definitely a product of his family. They were smart to try and stabilize the arm so the bones wouldn't shift around and possibly reset incorrectly. That would have required some surgery and been no fun for anyone. "Hey... everybody. Name's Tetsu and I'll be checking out your... son, brother, nephew." He joked with them, attempting to cover all the bases considering just how many people were in the room. There a few strained chuckles but it was obvious that they were worried about the boy. "Alrighty, let's take a look, shall we? I'm gonna have to put some pressure on your arm to check the bones, so it may hurt a bit." He explained and the boy nodded to show his understanding.
What came next was indeed quite painful as Tetsu needed to press on various parts of the arm to check and see if the bone had reset properly. Luckily it had so there was little to no risk of a mis-heal. "Looks good, let's get to healing this thing." A quick string of hand seals and a green aura would surround the Chunin's hands. He held them over the injured arm, and though there would be no outward signs of anything happening both Tetsu and the boy knew that the bones were mending themselves. Unfortunately, an act such as moving bone was pretty painful and the grimace on the little boy's face clearly showed it along with a couple tears.
The process would go on for about fifteen minutes, with Tetsu moving his hands up and down the arm to ensure that every inch of bone was as good as new. Eventually he would end the technique and a sigh of relief came from the red head. "Should be good to go, just be a bit more careful from now on, ok?" The young boy nodded his head and Tetsu exited the room after giving a small wave to the family. On to the next one.

turn me up when you feel low,
One room down, so many more to go. Tetsu hadn't planned to use up that much chakra in one go as he could have easily just healed the arm a good percentage and sent the boy on his way with a sling or cast, but what would have been the fun in preventing the youth from being able to return to his daily activities? There was no fun in that, to be honest, and the Uzumaki had taken an oath to help all those that needed it so that was that.
As soon the next exam room door was opened a rather intense sneeze could be heard from inside. Of course someone was sick, and sure enough Tetsu was the one who would have to deal with them. It was the one thing he couldn't stand about working in the medical field: working with sick people. Not so much that he disliked germs or anything of the sort, but the risk of catching a patients cold or carrying it back to his rather large family and getting them all sick. That served to only make the already hefty work load Tetsu had increase, because dealing with a bunch of sick people all at once was just what he wanted to do. It was odd, to be honest, most sicknesses that went through a family went from one person to the other, but not with Tetsu's. If one person in his family got sick they all got sick immediately, at the same time. Amazing how something like that happened in a family with a medic. It was like fate was testing the man's skills in some sick and twisted game. Damn, again with the off topic day dream.
This time it was a woman on the chair hybrid thingy, middle aged and with what looked like her husband sitting next to her. He could tell they were both shinobi from their attire. Didn't even dress down on an off day, eh? Couldn't blame them, after wearing the get up for so long it just became natural, and so long as people regularly washed it then there was no big deal. Anywho, there a sick patient to attend to. "Hey folks. What seems to be the issue today?" Tetsu asked attempting to gather a list of symptoms so he could make a proper diagnosis.
"Well, runny nose, lots of sneezing, sore throat, and a fever." The woman said before blowing a hefty chunk of snot into her tissue. Gross. Tetsu thought over the words for a moment. "Seems like a common cold to me. Aside from medicine, the best I could do would be helping to break the fever, though contrary to popular belief a fever isn't a bad thing. It's the body's way of signaling that it's fighting whatever is making you sick." The Chunin replied. He liked to throw in little nuggets of information every now and then, especially when it came to common colds. People often elongated their own illness by attempting to break the fever when it was actually helping the situation. Sure, having a warm forehead and feeling cold at the same time wasn't necessarily the best feeling in the world, however letting the body run its natural processes was usually the best bet in this type of situation.
The duo didn't looked any more enlightened than before, but they would thank Tetsu later for his words, he was sure of it. Pulling out a pad and pen from his pocket the Chunin quickly scribbled down a prescription for the woman. In one fluid motion he ripped the sheet off the pad and handed it to the woman. "There ya go, take that to the receptionist at the front and she'll get you taken care of." With a nod and small wave Tetsu exited the room. Two down, and a bit less than a mile left to go. The next several hours would go by as a blur, with injuries ranging from injured backs to minor burns and everything in between. The sun had almost set by the time Tetsu had closed the last file on the stack. The man sighed and took a seat on one of the chairs in the staff lounge. This had been one doozy of a day, and the Chunin had definitely earned his pay this day. Now all that was left for the Uzumaki to do was fill his stomach with food and get a good smoke in.
