Most were still sound asleep, a few souls rustling awake as they did every morning but for the most part there was silence. Not even the birds had begun their daily chirping which was a clear sign of the time. Kuro would have easily been one of the many sleeping had he not been assigned this mission, and had it not been an official task given from Kirigakure then he would have surely declined. No matter, getting paid always helped wake the boy up.
A healthy yawn followed by stretching and shuffling through the house and eventually ending up in the kitchen. On the table sat a warm meal of rice, eggs, and some kind of meat. It was clear that his mom had gotten up even earlier to make sure that her son was well fed before venturing out for the day, man why couldn't all women be like her? With each bite the Genin awoke more and more until he was somewhat a semblance of his normal self. What followed next was the usual getting dressed and hygiene routine until the Hozuki was ready to go, well sort of. On his bed lay the brand new katana that he had purchased and not gotten to use all that much. Had the mission not been what it was Kuro probably would have brought it along but decided to leave it; he'd make sure to practice with it after the mission was complete.
Speaking of the mission it was one of the more simpler things a Genin could do: walk a couple dogs. Their owner had come down with some kind of sickness and needed someone to take them on their daily walk, simple enough. Oddly enough, however, was the note about how they had not been walked in a couple days and may have been a bit over energized upon finally getting out and about. Then again, how hard could it be to keep track of a couple rowdy dogs? Besides, trying to contain them would keep the boy on his toes and could be seen as a bit of training. Hell, there was no telling if his team was ever going to meet again. Oh well, there were dogs to walk and money to be made! With that Kuro exited his abode and headed for the guy's house which was a decent walk from his location.

Kuro rarely woke before the sun broke the horizon so seeing everything in such a clam state was new to him. His path took him through the market district which was filled with lidded baskets of who knew what and was just waiting to be sold during the day. The Hozuki didn't mind being around a ton of people, though all the body heat got to be a bit much when everything was in full swing. Though his pace was leisurely not having to duck, dodge, and contort his body to avoid running into people gave the boy great time and he arrived in a little over twenty minutes.
A couple knocks on the door and instantly the sound of multiple sets of paws clamoring towards the door became louder and louder with each passing moments, without a doubt the sound belonged to the energetic dogs. "Back up guys, at least let me open the door firs--ACHOO!" Yep, there was definitely a sick guy on the other side of this door and Kuro was going to have to deal with him face to face, at least for a few moments. In a somewhat weak fashion the wooden door slid open revealing a middle aged man with every feature of a sick man. "Ah, you must be Kuro. Come in, come in." He beckoned to the boy, and as much as the boy didn't want to step into the germ infested abode he had little choice. The place was pretty decent and definitely one of the better destinations to be cooped up in when getting over a cold.
Woof Woof!! Barked the two dogs as they bounded over to the Genin and began their customary sniffing to try and identify the new scent. The boy gave a few pets and watched as the man shuffled into the kitchen. When he returned to view there were two leashes in his hands. "Ah, where are my manners? Kuro, this is Hoja and Laoi. Had 'em for about three years now. Seems like just yesterday I could fit 'em in my palm." The man spoke as he pointed between the two canines. Both dogs were rather large and would have came up to Kuro's chest had they been standing on their hind legs, though it was pretty easy to tell them apart. Hoja was black with golden spots while Laoi was gold with black spots. An interesting coincidence, probably from the same litter.
"A simple lap around the village usually does the trick, though it's been a couple days so they may want to run around a bit more." With that the man handed Kuro the two leashes and watched as the boy attached them to the dog's collars. So far so good though they hadn't even left the house. Now the real adventure would begin.

Though it had only been a couple of days they acted like the outside world was brand new to them. Oh how carefree animals lived, for the most part at least. They didn't have to deal with the drama of relationships or dealing with unruly people. Just eat, sleep, and roll around in the dirt. Had Kuro had a certain technique active his arm may have started to liquify from the force but he was able to keep control and more importantly not fall on his face. If he wasn't awake yet these two were going to make sure the Genin would be shortly. As the dogs traversed through the streets they seemed to only be concerned with what was in front of them and hadn't made any sudden turns, much to Kuro's thanks.
Feeling that this was getting out of hand the Hozuki pulled back on the leashes to try and halt the canines momentum. It wasn't hard enough to cause any damage but they would get the message, and indeed they did and promptly slowed down to a much more pleasurable pace. Once again the boy was fortunate that there were little to no people walking through the streets less there be some kind of accident, and that was the last thing he wanted to deal with this early in the morning. Now that this walk was going much more smoothly Kuro could enjoy himself a bit more, and it seemed that the dogs weren't too upset at not being able to run a muck around the village. They were now coming across the Academy grounds which in a few hours would be filled with children building the foundation to their own shinobi careers. It was only two years ago that Kuro was sitting in those same seats though he had usually been a step ahead of a good amount of the other kids because of the training his parents put him through outside of class. That was definitely a much simpler time, and it had been some time since he had visited so maybe he'd stop through on the way back home. Granted, this feeling of nostalgia was a recent one as during his first year post graduation the Genin wanted nothing to do with the place like most of his peers as it was a reminder of his juvenile days.
Next came the Kiri gardens which housed a variety of odd plants that could only grow in such an odd climate. Though the village was shrouded in mist more days than not it still got pretty warm on occasion which allowed for a lot of plants to grow, so much so that quite a few of the buildings were topped with lush vegetation. Heat from the sun added to the readily available source of water in the mist made Kiri an ideal place for vegetation to grow, though Kuro couldn't tell two plants apart to save his life. Seeing a bunch of new territory to mark the dogs began tugging forward on the leashes in an attempt to go piss everywhere, and had there been people walking around the Hozuki wouldn't have let them, but since there weren't then he let the two have at it. It was an interesting sight seeing just how much pee a dog could force out when there were dozens upon dozens of plants to mark, some done two or three times over because they marked over each others territory. Silly pups.
Eventually the dogs would have their fill of pissing up the joint and continued onward. Much of the next part of the walk consisted of random streets that held little more than a shop or two or houses, but in due time the restaurant district could be seen, or rather smelled. Places that specialized in breakfast were up and cooking their various meals and awaiting the morning rush of those who didn't have the time or skills to cook themselves a proper breakfast. Kuro felt that this would one day be his fate as he relied on his mother to prepare his meals. Kuro, along with the dogs, turned their noses to the air so that they could bathe in the sweet aroma of the many foods that were being prepared. Though he had just eaten there was always room for a second breakfast, but alas these dogs would have to be taken home first before the feast could begin.
It was a struggle keeping the dogs from peering into an eatery looking for a snack and the Genin had definitely wore off his breakfast dealing with them, but eventually he made it through to calmer waters, er, streets. The remainder of the walk went fairly smoothly, though as more people began filling the streets the more times he was stopped to let people pet the dogs. In due time they would wrap around the village and reach the house. After a couple knocks the door slid open once more and the still sick owner looked rather delighted. "Ah, thank you so much, I hope they didn't give you too much trouble. They can be a handful, these two." He joked. "They were awesome, I'm actually gonna miss 'em." Kuro replied, half joking but a bit of truth in his words. After a parting wave the dogs returned inside with their owner and Kuro made a bee-line for the restaurants so that he could enjoy a well deserved second breakfast.
