Mental &Physical ► Appearance [x | x | x | x] Komainu's body seems to mirror her personality: firm, lithe, trained, scarred. Following the mold of her clan , the young woman's body is borderline pale in tone and very susceptible to the sun without protection. Although thin, it remains sculpted for war, conflict, and enmity, being finely toned from the top down for the sake of optimum efficiency. Underneath clothing, her body appears to be of twigs and sticks when in reality she possesses a build fitting of a martial artist. However, at one-hundred ten pounds, it becomes hard to detest such a justified opinion. Her height caps at a projected five and six feet tall, and in summary, her physical stature isn't very intimidating. She bears a crown of brunette locks that extend an inch or two below her shoulder blades. Normally, her face would be subject to the pestering of one of three bangs falling into her line of sight; however, she keeps her face free of such troublesome disruption by wearing her hair in ponytail, using her forehead protector (smaller than normal) as the band that holds it in place—the symbol for Konoha can be clearly seen. This also clearly reveals the Jūinjutsu on her forehead as well, which she oddly isn't ashamed of showing. Her eyes are just like every other Hyūga's, slightly lavender and barely pronounced from the white of her sclera. In terms of clothing, Komainu has a particular attire for times of combat. It consists of her Jōnin flak vest, an upper-bodysuit, quarter length pants, and shinobi sandals. The vest is form fitting for comfortability, has six pockets, has shoulder guards, and comes in a dark green coloration. The body suit is black, has a turtleneck, and only covers her crotch area up to her neck. Her pants are black and are not form fitting, which hides the figure of her lower body. The sandals are black as well, open-toed, and they extend high enough for her to tuck and secure the ends of her pants into them. Sometimes she replaces these with white wrapping. With this, she wears a kunai holster on her right thigh and an item pouch on her left hip. Her casual wear bears little difference, as she rarely ceases to wear her Jōnin attire. Whenever she does though, she dresses in such a way as to hide her figure from other people. In fact, she constantly wears a synthetic fiber around her chest that keeps her breasts pressed firm against her body, despite the fact that aren't very pronounced to begin with. This in turn prevents any bulge. ► Mental Assessment A soldier in the strictest sense—subservient, unquestioning, loyal, faithful—Komainu is the epitome of a professionally driven woman, and she could accurately be described as a workaholic. Her life revolves around her liege, Hyūga Hiatari, and his family. Tasked with protecting them, but most especially and specifically Hiatari, with her life, she rarely ceases to deliberate the quality of her work and the ways that she could improve. She thinks about her assignment all the time, that is Hiatari, and if ever she isn't by his side, her thoughts become filled with wonder about his condition and well-being. It is safe to say that she has no life without him, even though his brother, Hyūga Hinagi, is her secondary assignment. She accepted long ago that she lives only for the sake of the Hyūga clan's heir. She was born to protect him, and that is her life's purpose. It is a fact, and it is the sole source of meaning for her life. Really, she has no goals or dreams for herself that are her own, or that are for her. She became a master of her Byakugan so at such a young age for Hiatari's sake; she dreams of becoming the best medic in the world to keep him safe; and she wants to become the world's strongest kunoichi, the world's strongest ninja, only so that she can aid Hiatari in reaching his own goals. If he were to die, even though she has other, immediate obligations, Komainu would have no idea what to do with herself, as her reason for living would be lost. That being said, even her personality is affected by her duties. As Hiatari is serious and dead in the way that he suppresses his emotions, so Komainu is lively, carefree, and somewhat quirky to balance him out. She doesn't like to see him down or too hard pressed with work, and sometimes she does random things in an attempt to lighten his mood and make him smile. That isn't to say that she isn't serious herself, she just doesn't display it in Hiatari's presence unless he asks for it. That also isn't to say that she acts that way solely for her liege; she has in fact been a lively person since she was young. Though, it may be accurate to say that such an attitude doesn't reflect how she truly is now. Either way, she is undoubtedly a bright and warm person who enjoys the small things in life, preferring jokes and antics to extra-serious endeavors. She does have a dark side though, and it she hides it with great dexterity. This side could be considered a more accurate side of the woman: angry, relentless, merciless, and depressed. She typically flips this switch only when she dons her ANBU mask. This side her is all of her angry and disdain toward her clan manifest. All of it wrapped up in one being and directed toward the her enemies. She only expresses these things in silence and through her actions, sometimes totaling her apartment in fury. In in her casual life, if it ever comes out, she tends to become more fierce and aggressive in a subtle way. Focusing on her work so deeply also serves as an escape from this side of her, as it grants Komainu no time for her to worry about herself. ► Background Information She was born on the same month as her liege, with only a twenty minute difference separating the dates of their birth. She was supposed to be born first, naturally speaking, by some ten minutes, but a man named Hiroshi had her mother's labor forcibly prolonged so that his son could be born first. It was a matter of fate, for nine months earlier, two families had come together and made arrangements for the sake of their clan's future heir. Son of clan leader Hyūga Hiroshi, it had been arranged that Hyūga Hiatari, a member of the main family, would have a personal bodyguard in Hyūga Komainu, a member of the branch family and daughter to Hiatari's most trusted advisers, Hyūga Taiyō and Hyūga Tsukimoto (her mother and father respectively). With the birth of Hiatari and his superiority set by way of his age gap, Komainu was finally able to come into the world. The resulting twenty minutes placed her birthday a day after Hiatari's. Hiroshi's wife chose her name, choosing to name her after the guardian lions commonly found protecting important places. It was regal, but still carried the ideal of subjugation—it was perfect for her son's protector. Komainu will always remember her early days with her liege. That isn't to say that she doesn't cherish the days after, but there is certain nostalgia attached to those memories, as if she is now missing something that she once had in those days. "Those days" refer to a time when the two were first introduced, when they bonded with one another as friends. They had been play mates for years due to the closeness of their parents, and almost every other day, she was at Hiatari's house entertaining him while their parents talked and discussed duties and politics. This dynamic changed when Hiatari turned three, which was when the two were sequestered. As it was explained, Hiatari would one day become the clan's heir, and Komainu would become his personal guardian. At the time, she hadn't really understood what they were telling her. She was simply upset that she was being separated from her friend. However, that was the intention behind having them together so early and for so long, to make Komainu more inclined to the idea of serving Hiatari as well as encouraging sympathy and empathy for the training that she would have to go through to reach that standard. The day after, her birthday, Komainu was branded with her clan's Jūinjutsu, and her training began. It was probably the worst day of her life, one that she has never really talked about. Before her training officially started, Komainu was told some important things: "From this day forward, your life will be dedicated to Lord Hiatari. You will protect him, and you will guard him, as if your own life depends on it. The three, most important things that you will need to protect him are discretion, ability, and loyalty." Learning Loyalty: Among the things that Komainu was taught during those times, her more studious training revolved around reading about the history of the Hyūga clan. She learned from those studies what the mark on her forehead was, and she learned about the main/branch dynamic and how it protected the clan and its secrets. She was allowed to ask questions throughout the process, and her questions were answered thoroughly; however, if there was something that she disagreed with even after explanation, they would punish her through the pain of her cursed seal. Eventually, she stopped responding when questioned, but even then the elders would trigger the seal until she answered. Discipline was the name of the game. She learned how to obey without question, and how to follow orders without rebuttal. Later, this conflated with her fondness of Hiatari so that she understood her role: the only reason that she lived was for the sake of her lord, to serve and protect him always and forever. Learning Discretion: The Hyūga elders were very proud of the Byakugan. They considered it the epitome of both sight and insight, and they told Komainu that if she was unable to master her Dōjutsu, she would never be able to protect Hiatari. She didn't understand that until she activated the Byakugan for the first time, and the experience blew her mind. She felt as if she could see the whole the world—she could see the whole world! She could see everything! She fell in love with the Dōjutsu right then and there. It became her first love, and she knew that it would be the perfect tool for keeping Hiatari safe. But as she was told, there was more to discretion than just her eyes. She had to know how to read people, and she had to rid herself of her naivety to see the world for what it was. Even as she was introduced to theories of warfare and espionage and stealth, she realized to some extent what her elders had meant. In the world of ninja, trust was nearly impossible. Learning Power: It wasn't until she was five years old and well into her other training that she began to officially practice Jūken and apply the things that she had studied about the style. Although she was never called genius in her skill, she was identified as being technically superior than most Hyūga, having nailed all of the basics and fundamentals such as stance, center-of-balance, footwork, and form. She was considered noteworthy at best, but that didn't take away from her ability of course. She was on the right path and she had potential, so the Elders continued her training and helped her to strengthen her weak points. They could see that she had the makings of an ideal servant. Komainu was never admitted into the academy. It was deemed unfit for her to experience anything outside of what she had been taught, for it was possible that those experiences would compromise her training. She never became a Genin, instead joining a special branch of Hyūga shinobi known as the Ōzokutokumu (王属特務; "Royal Guard"). Founded by Komainu's father two years prior to her eighth birthday, the squad consisted of only three members at a time, all from the branch family. They were assigned as Hiroshi's personal bodyguards, and they were the squad that was deported whenever Hiroshi was assigned to a mission. It was during her time in this squad that she truly learned the importance of discernment in regards to protecting her liege. It was during a mission one day that Komainu noticed her dad acting weird. It wasn't necessarily in his actions as much as what she could pick up from his behavior, but it was her dad, so she came up with all sorts of excuses to ignore the subtle hints. This was something she later regretted, for her father compromised the mission when he launched an assault on Hiroshi. Komainu was forced to combat him, and alongside her other squad mate, she slew her own dad. It was later revealed to her that her father had been planning a coup, and that he was a rebel aiming to destroy the Hyūga government and claim power himself. It stripped her of whatever naivety she still had and propelled her into the distrusting world of the ninja. Her faith was placed only in herself and her liege after that day. Living like that admittedly placed a lot of pressure on the eight year old, and she broke down a year later after Hiatari came close to death. She beat herself up for not being there and being unable to protect him. She wanted to see him, something she hadn't had the privilege of for six years, but they wouldn't let her. She had no idea whether he would live or die that day, and she lost the will to live. If he died, she would have no purpose. It took a week for her to get over her depression, in which time she left her room for only bathroom's sake. She neither ate nor drank until news came back that Hiatari would be able to make a full recovery. That was the year that she found her second love, Iryō Ninjutsu. She became a combat medic for the sake of her liege, as it was the only way that she could see herself protecting him in full. As the Royal Guard had been disbanded after Tsukimoto's assault, Komainu was instead assigned to help fetch out her father's conspirators. This was her first job as a spy, and she worked it to optimum effect. It was her first time practicing interrogation, but with her ability to read people's feelings, she was able to effectively find those who had helped her father, whether it was by herself or alongside another, and they were executed. Seeing this, the Hokage at the time enlisted Komainu to the ANBU, promoting her straight to Chūnin level as she was clearly more versatile and skilled than any Genin in her generation. This was when she was eleven. A lot of things happened during her ANBU years that were important to her. For one, her darker side came out. Behind her mask, she was relentless, merciless even. She became a new person, a manifestation of her inner anger and grief. She was jokingly called Akuma by some of her compatriots because she was like a demon in the field, a contrast to the more lively person that she was when the mask was off. However, it was also in the ANBU that, two years after her joining, she met Hiatari for the first time in nine years, and he was nothing like she expected him to look. It may have been foolish, but up until that point, Komainu had only seen the childish boy that had been separated from her all those years ago, only taller; however, in reality, Hiatari had become much more . . . mature in appearance than before. He had changed since she had last seen him as well, and frankly, he probably saw a change in her as well; and as it turned out, when she approached him, he seemed to only barely remember who she was. That hurt her at first, but the four years that they spent remingling with one another was enough to fill in the gaps. During those years, aside from her tracking abilities, Komainu was also noted for her aptitude in medicine, interrogation, tactics & intelligence, and torture. This panoramic aptitude propelled her to the rank of Jōnin at the age of fifteen. By the time the two turned seventeen, the Hokage had called Hiatari to be a sensei for a Genin squad. Komainu hadn't discovered this until a week after the fact, and knowing that she couldn't uphold her clan duties where she was, she asked the Hokage if she could follow her liege into the Regular Task Force. Although Komainu had never displayed any leadership abilities in ANBU, the Hokage knew her resolve, and so she was granted passage into the Regular Task Force as the leader of the Sanbuntai. Special Abilities ► Special Traits ► Physical Analyst → Of the things that Komainu was taught growing up, this was probably the most important: "If you want to be successful at defending the leader of our clan, your most important skill will be discretion." Until she was assigned to defend Hiatari's father, Komainu hadn't fully understood the warning, but since then, she has become a proficient analyst when it comes to her surroundings. Aware of virtually everything that goes on around her, Komainu boasts great aptitude at deciphering people and their intentions, allowing her to successfully see through the deceptions of even seasoned ninja. She served as a top tier profiler in the ANBU, using this skill pick apart her enemies mentalities, which later made her proficient at interrogation. Many times she was employed to use even the feelings and emotions of her comrades against them in order to identify and eliminate double agents and potential liabilities. In combat, she uses this to read through the patterns of her enemies, which grants her the evasive and predictive skill necessary to stay alive in the field and heal her comrades. Whether they be patterns of attack, patterns of movement, patterns of defense, or patterns of command, Komainu's primary style of fighting involves first picking apart her opponent to discover their strengths and weaknesses for future exploit. This trait has also helped her in other areas, as she was able to map the tenketsu via diagram after watching members of the main family, namely Hiatari and his immediate family, perform the "eight trigrams" techniques. Jūken → Although not her second love, Jūken was very much Komainu's second practice following her Byakugan. Her Gentle Fist has been called noteworthy by some, albeit not exceptional; however, most have only seen her base levels with the style. She has actually created two variations of the style, which would definitely surprise most Hyūga if they ever saw them. With these, she feels more specialized, and so she feels that she fights better with them, saving them for trumps while using the regular Jūken as a test or a gauge. It is important to note however that while having these styles may seem impressive, Komainu's true skill with them lies in knowing which ones to apply to a given situation and when to switch from one to the other. Komainu's first style is Jūken: Ryūen, meaning Gentle Fist: Dragon Flame. The style is essentially the regular Jūken style with the incorporation of Katon chakra to add the aspect of burning damage to her attacks. This in turn removes the necessity for targeting Keirakukei that are intertwined with the organs, as normally Jūken would be rather useless in such situations. The final style is one that she developed prior to the first, which incorporated her medical training into her combat style. Jūken: Atsugai, meaning Gentle Fist: Pressure Damage, takes the focus off of internal damage exclusively, combining Komainu's knowledge of the human anatomy with her Byakugan to make pinpoint strikes against the various weak points of the human body (for example, pressure points). This is accomplished by releasing pressurized chakra from the body at the moment of impact, making it possible to immobilize or kill a person or even break bones with the slightest of taps. This concept can also be applied to objects foreign from the human body, such as walls. ► Special Byakugan → The Byakugan has been Komainu's most pivotal ability since the age of two. As both the standard by which she was judged by the main family as well as the cornerstone to her specialties, Komainu has trained her Dōjutsu to the point where she can see for a maximum distance of twenty kilometers with great ease. If she focuses her attention on her Byakugan completely, this range doubles. While she cannot, as a member of the branch family, see the tenketsu of a person, she still manages to retain great accuracy with her kekkei genkai, displaying the ability to differentiate between people not just on their signatures, but on the individual colors that each person's chakra carries, which allows her to distinguish such things as transplanted body parts or genetic materials. Many a time she has shown her competence by counting the normally impossible: leaves on trees, hairs on a person's head, stones on a beach, and so on, which has made her a reputable sensor amongst her comrades—her life as an ANBU operative being the only thing that prevented word from spreading to the other villages. This has also granted her great hand-eye-coordination, which enhances her abilities in long-range combat. Iryō Ninjutsu → The intimate understanding of chakra control that Komainu possesses is the first contributor to her skill in Iryō Ninjutsu. Having mastered the field at an early age to make the most out of her Dōjutsu, controlling her chakra has since become as easy as moving a finger, as instinctive as second nature. This has granted her access to pinnacle stability when healing; it is her trademark. In under a minute, she is able to use her chakra to stabilize even the worst of wounds. This in turn allows her to ensure the person's survival before and during the healing process. Her chakra control is so precise that people have mistaken her for having great reserves, and she is even able to transfer her chakra to other beings. The next thing would be her intellect and knowledge. She has used this over the years to accumulate a vast and varied medical library, both mentally and physically in the form of journals. It is all in her memory: various poisons, different drugs, herbs and other forms of natural remedy, most-if-not-all forms of illness, and the many features and aspects of the human anatomy, including genetics. She has made herself immune to quite a few things, including the poisons of various summons that she encountered on the battlefield. Likewise, she has developed several, unique substances of her own to be used against her opposition. She is able to perform several procedures flawlessly, and is an expert at autopsy. Thanks for the quick review, but this WIP because I still have techs that need to be looked at, so it'll be unapprovable until then.

In terms of her ability though, it's the second part of her Iryō Ninjutsu description. I don't think Iryō Ninjutsu would be physical, and intellect is very important to being a medic.
