Hashis' clones were all but gone now. Only one or two were left. He had the reserves to come up with a couple more but they had served their purpose well and most of the bandits were well and truly gone. These unskilled renegades who posed problems for civilian and Genin alike were simply no match for any Shinobi worth his headband, or belt as the case may be. Hashi was however starting to feel a bit tired. Chakra wasn't just some magical power after all. It was energy too and running and punching and kicking all wore that out too. It wasn't that his well was depleted it was how much he'd used in such a little time. Something had possessed him today. An inner anger perhaps? Frustration at his faux position? This was definitely an off-day alright. Well at least victory seemed assured... Hashi's victory was ruined the moment he saw that jet of water. It was a jet that could not come from any man-made device. There was a shinobi among the ranks of these bandits. The rumours were true. This fact was compounded by the stupid rogue nin approaching him. That was probably why he'd left or been kicked out of his village. A lack of tact. Then again Hashi hadn't exactly been showing much tact recently either. Hashi released the slow burn technique so as not to burn his hands with prolonged use. He took a puff of his pipe and regarded his opponent his eyes searching for weakness. “So you're the rogue shinobi leader of these renegades. How odd of you not to wear your headband. It would make me think almost that you never belonged to any village. Is that right? Are you not good enough for a real shinobi village to take you in?” Hashi was hoping to enrage his foe into attacking first. The first to attack was always at a disadvantage unless you had the element of surprise which this guy had foolishly given up. turn me up when you feel low,
The bandit leader scoffed at the man for his remarks, was he stupid or attempting to anger him? That had already been accomplished when he began destroying buildings and taking out his forces, so the words had little effect. So someone had finally grovelled to the village and asked for him and his men to be taken out, eh? Unfortunate that they didn't do their research first. Sending a loud mouth who used a bunch of fire type techniques was just asking for trouble, and he was already beginning to show signs of fatigue. Perhaps he would make an example out of this man to send a message? Yeah, that would do the trick. No village would want to mess with a man that could kill their forces, right? Of course, he would have to change locations and lay low for a while but in due time things would go back to normal. First, however, was dealing with this man in front of him.
"Whether or not I belonged to a village is not something a man about to die should concern themselves with. Though if you really want your last memories to be of me then go right ahead." He spat back at the Jounin while taking in his surroundings. There were a couple of those pesky clones left, though he imagined that they would not be around too much longer. However, something didn't really add up. Taking out that many of his men along with quite a few buildings was just too much for one man and a few clones who were engrossed in combat. Perhaps there was another hiding out, waiting to strike when the opportunity presented itself. Nice idea, but there was a reason the bandit leader had been a Chunin in his village.
"Tell your little friend that they can stop hiding. I'd rather not have to go hunting once I'm finished with you." The man spoke arrogantly. There were still a few of his men left to fight and they would handle whoever the other person was while the leader took on the loud mouth.

“Friend?” Hashi asked as if amused. “I don't need another to help me defeat these presents armed with sticks. Defeating your, for lack of a better term, 'forces' has been the easiest thing I did today and earlier I brushed my teeth.” Hashi was an excellent liar. It came with the territory. It did unnerve him even if he didn't show it however. He'd been trying his best to keep the bandits interested in him more than Testsu but now that their leader had mentioned it and his clones were dwindling fast some of the bandits might go looking for him. The kid should be able to hold his own. He was a bloody chuunin. He had to defeat other ninja just to pass the Exam. Bandits should be no trouble at all. “I hope I haven't killed any of your friends. I have a job to do I hope you understand.” Hashi couldn't resist adding in a jibe. He was starting to feel quite aggressive and he wasn't sure f it was the rage of war, the fact the man had threatened Tetsu or some other factor that was encouraging him to feel this way. Hashi took a deep puff of his pipe and took it out of his mouth. He disposed of it's contents keeping an ever-watching eye on his opponent. When it was empty he pocketed it. Hashi had an idea for taking down his opponent and he needed a clear mouth for it. Hashi suddenly spat at his opponent a large glob of oil which ignited as it passed out of his body into a fireball. Hashi then spun to the left and prepared the necessary hand seals for the Temporary Paralysis technique which he hoped to have performed so quick that he could freeze his enemy in place before he could dodge out of the way of the fireball. Katon: Endan | Fire Release: Flame Bullet - Was fired at Bandit Leader.
Kanashibari no Jutsu | Temporary Paralysis Technique - Was used to hold the Bandit Leader so that the fireball would hit him.

turn me up when you feel low,
This guy sure liked to run his mouth, and it was either because he was strong enough to back it up or because he was stalling. Either way, he would die soon. The bandits who had not been taken out began to fan out from the main battle area, figuring that their leader would be able to handle things here and that they would only get in the way. Besides, they had a possible second person to go find. He had lead them well, even made them a bit smarter so that they could act without him having to give directions. Too bad most of them had died, he would miss them. Not really, but it was a nice sentiment. "Just keep on talking, either way we both know how this is gonna end." The leader had grown tired of hearing this shinobi blabber on about this and that and was convinced that he was, in fact, stalling for time. No matter, his guys would flush out the second shinobi that was hiding out. Interesting that he would allow his partner to face such a threat alone, especially after using up all that chakra. He watched the man take a drag from his pipe, probably wanted the nicotine to soften his nerves before he died, poor sap. Then the fireworks began. The glob of spit that was headed for him quickly turned into a large ball of fire, cheeky little bastard. Unfortunately that would not be able to do the trick. A set of hand seals were performed and from his mouth came two condensed spheres of water that collided with the fire ball. Together they would prove enough to cancel out the attack and in its wake created a dense steam screen that blocked view on either side. Though he didn't know this, the bandit had been saved from the paralyzing technique as he couldn't be seen to target. Another set of hand seals, and some of the steam swirled into a clone of the leader. When the steam would finally clear the shinobi would see two of the bandit, and now surely his demise. Tetsu on the other hand was still lying in wait, a decent distance from the fight but close enough to provide assistance should it be necessary. The bandit leader was indeed a former shinobi and his skills were decent. His water type attacks definitely put Hashi at a disadvantage, but being a Jounin meant that he had other skills, right? Frankly Hashi was starting to wonder why he'd been sent a medic when what would have been really useful would have been a whole squad of balanced minions Genin. While he no doubt would be thankful later for his healing expertise it really didn't help right this very second.
Hashi cursed as his fireball turned into a sudden smoke screen to conceal his opponents movements disallowing him from catching him with thin the fireball technique. Hashi fired off the necessary hand seals to create a Fire Clone to stand in position where he had been while he took off with his shunshin to scale a nearby building
Once he was on top of the building he began to concentrate his chakra into one concentrated ball of fire as he fired off the handseals needed. He felt his last fire clone of the previous technique dissipate. Looking down at the battlefield below him he knew that all of the bandits still alive were on that main road and he had one attack that would do the trick. One attack that would hopefully erase this whole bitter memory of a mission.
One small ball of fire shot from Hashi's mouth releasing all the tension of built-up Chakra in one go. When/if it hit the ground it would explode into storm of fire that would spread out quickly along the ground burning anything to a crisp within it's huge range. Hashi rather hoped it would take out the entire Bandit force and their leader. It was certainly powerful and big enough to do such a job but erhaps the leader himself could escape by some Shinobi feat.

turn me up when you feel low,
The count had been successful and a decent sized thicket of steam now clouded everyone's vision, except those of the bandits who had left to flush out the second shinobi. The bandit leader and his clone and jumped back around the same time the other man did until they were clear of the steam. It only took a few moments for it to clear and he could see that his opponent and retreated to the high ground of one of the buildings. Running scared, eh? He couldn't blame the man, after all. It seemed all he knew were fire techniques and he would never be able to win if they continued using Ninjutsu against one another. He watched the man perform a set of seals and another fire ball left his mouth. How repetitive. When it hit the ground, however, it erupted into a high arching wave of flames, well that was new. He must have been trying to end this in one foul swoop. Interesting, though he wasn't the only one with tricks up his sleeve. Both the bandit leader and his clone would perform seals, though for two different techniques. From the mouth of the leader came a gigantic surge of water, large enough to cover quite a distance. It would once again collide with the giant wall of flames and cause a steam screen extremely thick. The clone would complete its seals and from some of the steam came one thousand needles made of water. They would rush out towards the man, and assuming he hadn't moved from where they saw him last would do quite some damage. So long as they continued to clash in this matter the bandit leader would be able to perform suiton techniques quicker than normal because of all the water vapor in the area. It would only be a matter of time before he overpowered his opposition. The other bandits were closing in on Tetsu's location, though they weren't exactly sure where to look so for at least another few moments the boy was safe though it seemed he would have to jump into the fray sooner rather than later. He disliked fighting, at least up close, but would do what was necessary to protect himself. Used by Bandit Leader

For some reason the bandit leader had forgotten about Hashi's fire clone. It had jumped into an alleyway as the blast hit. The bandit leader's own jutsu had stopped the flames from spreading into the alleyway. When the flames and water were gone the clone jumped back out to expel a distracting volley of small fire ball at his opponent and his clone. What was unique about these fireballs however were that they could be controlled by Chakra so any attack sent to cancel them could, in theory be dodged.
Meanwhile the real Hashi's highly attuned reflexes allowed him to hear the needles quick enough for him to dodge them by spinning quickly around to the side. He was about to ready another talk when he felt something. He'd not spun out of the way quick enough and one of the needles had tore a gash in his side. “Ah, shit.” Hashi cursed under his breath putting hand to feel his sticky side. That was going to hurt in the morning. Well it hurt now, pretty fucking bad.
There was only one god damn thing to do. Hashi reached into his pocket and withdrew his pipe and his tobacco tin. Opening said tin he began to pack his pipe with tobacco. Then performing a few simple handseals and clicking his finger into his pipe he lit it. He pocketed his tobacco tin and took several paths of hot, smoky nicotine. For but a moment even his injury was painless.
With that out of the way Hashi looked around for Tetsu. Typical medic; never there when you needed one but when you didn't oh they were fucking everywhere constantly reminding you of the so-called dangers of smoking. He sure hoped nothing had happened to the kid and not just because he needed him. There just weren't enough smokers in Kusagakure and Hashi's one regret if anything ever happened to the kid was that cigar in his mouth would go unlit. Okay, maybe the kid had grown on him a bit too.

turn me up when you feel low,
Tetsu had been watching the entire fight from his position, and it was quite the sight. Every technique that Hashi had used was countered by the bandit leader and it was for all intents and purposes this was a stalemate. Well, maybe if there wasn't the issue of the bandit using suiton techniques and for some reason Hashi only using katon. Did he have nothing else? Oddly enough the man had left his ninja tools back in Kusagakure so any chance of using them was out of the question. It still didn't make sense to the Chunin how a grown man could leave them at home, during a mission when fighting was sure to occur. No matter, perhaps this would be a lesson for him.
The bandits who had escaped the fiery assault were closing in on Tetsu and the boy knew that he wouldn't be able to sit here for too much longer. Hell, probably not at all with the speed they were moving with. He wasn't exactly sure how they had tracked him, but they had done so. He needed to move, but where? Another hiding spot would only give him a few more minutes to think of another place to hide, so it was pretty useless. Think. Think. Then it came, the best idea he had had all day. The Uzumaki would go right at them, well sort of. As they closed in to the brush the boy was hiding beneath he leaped over them, their faces in awe. With a dash the Chunin used his speed to put distance between he and the bandits and headed towards the main battle field. His path took him on top of a building, and a few hops later had him next to Hashi in a matter of moments. "What do you suggest we do?" He asked the man while taking note of the bleeding coming from his side, it would definitely need to be checked out after all this was said and done.
During the last bout of fighting the bandit leader had indeed forgotten the clone, and its technique caught them off guard. Quick movement allowed the bandit leader to escape certain demise with only a few burns to his arms and legs, and he was wincing in obvious pain. His clone, however, would not be so fortunate. It had taken the brunt of the attack and reverted back into a puddle of water after being hit. The leader was now on the ground looking up at Hashi and Tetsu, his bandits showing up just moments later. Including him there were only four left. "So I see we flushed ya partner out, yeah? Saves me the trouble." He was speaking out of his ass at this point, but none of his men knew that.

Everything sort of happened at once. The bandit leader's clone fell into a puddle, Tetsu appeared seemingly out of nowhere (damn that boy was fast) and the whole, well what little remained of the, bandit force assembled with their leader.
“Bout time.” Hashi said his voice somewhat strained. “Bastard got me with some sort of water needle attack. Just grazed a bit though so I'll be fine. You should probably take a look at that later but just now. Hmm...” Hashi looked down at their enemy and his comrades. They were all assembled in close range. It would be the perfect time to use that jutsu again but what would stop the bastard just cancelling it out again? He needed something; something extra. What had Tetsu said earlier. He was into the wind style. That could help but how.
“Hey kid I'm gonna throw a fireball down there. Did you see what I did earlier? Well, that again, but you're going to add to it this time. In the midst of the explosion this guy is gonna summon up a big wave to protect himself or some such nonsense. What you need to do is shoot in a ball of wind at the exact same time my ball of fire explodes. The wind will propel the fire outwards faster than he can protect himself. If that doesn't work I want you to turn tail to the village. Get the hell out of here and don't look back. I can take care of myself.” Maybe the injury was starting to make Hashi feel morbid but if the enemy had enough skill to dodge this attack then this was no place for Tetsu any more. Plus if he ran back to the village at full speed backup and a medical team could get here pretty snappy.
Hashi's hand flew off at the fastest speed they possibly could and the fire ball was in motion within seconds. There was no slow build up this time Hashi didn't have the kind of time to do shit carefully any more. It had to end. It had to end “Now!”

turn me up when you feel low,
Tetsu listened to the man speak and the plan seemed solid, though the part about leaving if things got hairy he wasn't going to abide by even if it meant disobeying direct orders from a superior. The boy was a damn good medic and would be able to keep them in the fight if need be, and he had made a vow to help every person he could with his techniques and he wasn't about to break that promise now. They were in this together, and together they would see it through. "You must be crazy if you think I'm leaving you behind." He replied, besides, if Hashi died then who would Tetsu talk smoking with? As his partner prepared his technique Tetsu also prepared his own. On its own his Futon jutsu were decent but nothing spectacular, though combined with something else they had the chance to be deadly, or at least effective. As the fireball hit the ground it would be met by several decent sized blasts of air that expanded once they contacted the flames. The resulting explosion was, to put it modestly, extravagant. On the other side of things the bandit leader had once again begun a string of hand seals to perform the technique he had used previously, but he had underestimated both the increased power and speed of the combination technique. In a matter of seconds he and the remaining bandits were swallowed up in the flames, their screams drowned out by the roar of the intense flames. When they finally subsided there were nothing but charred remains heaped together, a morbid sight. Tetsu had a less than pleased look on his face. As a medic he never liked to see others die, especially when it was by his own hands. But he was a shinobi, and it was an everyday risk. Quite the contradiction. "Well, that's done. Let me take a look at that wound." He said to the man, attempting to take his mind off the grizzly scene that had just unfolded. Techniques Used:

For a moment before Hashi had released the technique he had looked over at the adamant Chuunin. Their eyes had locked and he had nodded. It was a warrior's recognition. The kid knew enough to finish what he started. Hashi could respect that.
For a whole moment it almost seemed as if the guy was going to summon his technique in time to save himself and prolong the fight. The moment passed however and the man passed away to join the ranks of men that had once called Hashi foe. He was little more than a memory a now; a metaphorical notch in the scores of dead that Hashi was responsible for.
“Phew,” Hashi exclaimed “That guy was a pain. Lemme sit down for a second.” Hashi felt rather tired after that fight. He lowered himself down onto the wooden roofing sitting with a pained grunt. “Fuck, hope this shit doesn't collape.” Hashi swore into his breath.
“Ah, what's that?” Hashi asked as he failed to catch the Chuunin's words for a sec. “Yeah, yeah go ahead. I'm not stopping you. It hurts like a bitch.” With a wince and a groan Hashi discarded his upper clothing. “I liked that t-shirt as well.” He grumbled under his breath.
Hashi took a deep puff of his pipe. “Hey, Tetsu, why don't you light that bitch up?” He asked in reference to the boys unlit nicotine stick. “I think we deserve a good smoke today. We rid the world of one more rogue shinobi. Sure his corpse is too charred to a husk to be able to claim a bounty from it but it's the thought that counts and you caved in all those bandits too. This smoke is for you, kid. Ha!”

turn me up when you feel low,
It was all still a bit too surreal for Tetsu, to be honest, as he had never seen a technique of such caliber before. Granted it was a combination technique though his Futon techniques wasn't all that strong so most of the work had been done by Hashi. No matter, the deed was done and all that was left to do was heal the man and return to the village. He was still looking at the burnt remains and the charred earth around them. The technique had done some damage, and he could have wondered what the bandit used to counter such a thing the first time around.
The Chunin chuckled at Hashi's statement, indeed these buildings were old and it was a miracle the entire town hadn't collapsed during the fight. Perhaps it would be better for them to move to solid ground before taking a rest, though Hashi looked about beat and probably couldn't move all too well. Seeing the wound as the man removed his bloodied shirt it seemed not too terrible, definitely much better than what could have happened should more of those needles had hit. It would be a quick fix, Tetsu had only used one technique the entire time aside from detonating the explosive tags so he had plenty to spare to heal his comrade.
"I'll wait till after I've healed you. Wouldn't want any host ashes to fall into the wound, now would we?" The boy joked, they had earned a couple laughs by now. A few quick hand seals and an aura of green chakra surrounded the Uzumaki's hands. He hovered them over the wound and almost immediately the wound would begin to heal. Wounds this menial took only moments to heal and in no time Hashi would look good as new, though there was nothing that could be done about his shirt.
"There we go, good as new." He spoke before taking a seat himself. From his pouch came the half used cigar and the oversized lighter. A flick brought up a decent sized flame and a few puffs would serve to adequately light the cigar. These were the spoils of war.

Hashi chuckled “Hahaha, kid, you've got the right idea. If any ash fell in my wound I'd be returning to the village single-handed you little brat.” Hashi was not acting even the least bit similar to the Hashi from the beginning of the mission. Fatigue and pain had lowered his inhibitions somewhat.
Hashi groaned seeing no reason to pretend the healing didn't hurt like hell. It sort of felt like some insane medic was putting in stitches at a hundred miles per hour. “I forgot how much that hurt. You almust-Ah, fuck?!” Hashi's question was pre-emptively answered as he felt another wave of pain.
When finally it was over Hashi took a long draw of his pipe. He held the smoke in his mouth for the longest time before releasing it in several short puffs creating smoke rings. Hashi put his ring finger through one of them in the air. “Ah, smoking... My first and last love. What got you started on the nicotine sticks anyhow, Tetsu? Usually the medical nin are all up in arms about it.”

turn me up when you feel low,
Tetsu grinned as he gave thought to the man's question. It was quite the contradiction for a medic to have a smoking habit, and indeed the other medics in Kusa often gave the boy a hard time about it. They either made comments of how the room smelled like smoke whenever he walked into a room or made quips telling him not to lose his cigar in a patient. During the early years it had indeed affected the boy and he had came close to quitting completely more times than he liked to admit. However, he would not go back on a promise made when he was but an even younger lad and continued his efforts.
As time passed and the Uzumaki's skills grew people soon realized that he was indeed becoming one of the more advanced medics in the entire village, and their chides turned from jest to mere joking, possibly out of a new found respect. Perhaps it was his unnaturally large pool of chakra that allowed him to perform medical techniques longer than most, and his control benefited from it without a doubt. Whatever the reason, Tetsu was on a fast track to become the head medic of the village and he planned on smoking the entire way to the top.
"Growing up with a bunch of brothers and sisters led to a lot of stress and the habit just sort of happened. Though I wanted to be quote on quote different and picked cigars." He stopped to take a rather large drag from his cigar. "Yeah, the other medics always give me a hard time over it but I learned to drown 'em out after a while. It's more like a hobby now anyway, ya know? Just a part of my life now." With that Tetsu would lay back completely on the roof of the building, hands behind his head and eyes closed. This had been an interesting mission indeed and the boy had even gotten a new friend out of it. All in all it was a good day.

A lot of people had different experiences with the drug Hashi had come to love and he took a personal interest in hearing as many as he could. It was a unique part of the human experience and it usualy said a lot about a person. For example it told him that Tetsu was happy with being different in fact, even though it might be hard, he strived to excel in his own way. Hashi could respect that.
Hashi took a deep puff and lay down too. It was almost as if both men had the same idea at once. “Never been a cigar man. I don't like the feel off it. I prefer a nice wooden pipe. Hey look, the sun is setting. It's the end of another day.” and as darkness fell upon them the charred husks of their enemies faded into the night and two friends returned to their home.
