Weight: 111 lbs. Hair Color: Black. Eye Color: Violet. Masumi is a little on the short side, slim, with distinct muscle tone. She doesn't wear any makeup or jewelry, thinking them wastes of time and money. Her eyes are a deep violet hue, nearly as dark as her hair, which is pitch black. She wears it either tied into a braid or left loose, adorning it with a pink ribbon and a headband. She prefers loose, airy clothing that allows ease of movement. Her usual outfit consists of a long-sleeved white shirt with a lavender and black collar and cuffs, a thigh-length lavender skirt, and black tights. She is careful to avoid doing damage to her clothing, always trying to at least appear immaculate. She doesn't usually wear her headband, instead having the Iwagakure symbol sewn onto the backs of her shirts. She wears two equipment pouches. ► Mental Assessment Masumi is a very peaceful individual. She's calm and level-headed, preferring to view things with logic instead of emotion. She is also quite intelligent, quick on the uptake, and astute - and as such, looks down on those that aren't on her level. She doesn't rely on anyone other than herself, and never has; she believes that self-reliance is important for success, as you're not going to get anywhere if you're just leaning on other people your entire life. This outlook is also because she doesn't believe that many people are worth relying on. Nor is she a romantic person; she does believe that love exists, she just doesn't need or want it. Masumi is definitely cynical; she doesn't think most people are worth her time - not out of arrogance, but out of a belief that people simply just aren't worth it. She's mildly obsessed with saving money, to the point of being called miserly, and wants everything around her to be as close to perfect as it can be. Though she would never admit it, she is quite lonely, and wishes she could find friends - but she doesn't know how to approach people. ► likes silence reading sweets sunrises cooking ► dislikes loud/obnoxious people ignorance hospitals spicy foods arrogance ► positives astute calm intelligent organized self-reliant ► negatives aloof blunt cynical miserly perfectionist ► Background Information Masumi was born during the war to a civilian father and a shinobi mother; they were quite the odd couple, and not exactly well-reputed within the village. He was a cook, the owner of a ramen stand, and she was an outsider from a faraway land that had never quite gained the trust of Iwa's shinobi. Her mother cared for her only as long as she had to, then she left Masumi with her father and headed back to the battlefields, where she had an unfortunate 'accident.' Her widower spent little time grieving, devoting most of his life to raising his child. Masumi's childhood was fairly ordinary, all things considered; she had all the toys she could ever ask for, a fair few friends, and a doting father. She never wanted for anything. Then the day came when she was enrolled in the shinobi academy, a decision her father was still unsure of, but had allowed to take place at his daughter's insistence. At first she seemed off to a great start; the friends she had had joined the academy at the same time, and they formed a little group that always hung out and studied or practiced together. They were always near the top of their class and their senseis praised their teamwork. The four years of schooling were almost entirely uneventful, and Masumi did begin to grow apart from her friends. They were interested in entirely different things, and she felt like she could no longer relate to them - so they weren't worth being friends with at all. Thus began her descent into her isolated world and almost indifferent outlook. Upon graduation from the academy, Masumi decided that she was going to move out, as she no longer needed or wanted to rely on her father for anything. He didn't really understand this choice, but he reluctantly let her go, as he would do anything to make his daughter happy. After that, Masumi didn't really leave her apartment much - just for training and when she needed to visit the markets to stock up on groceries or other supplies. She did not try to make friends with the genin on her team and had, at best, a merely cordial relationship with her sensei. They were nothing more than stepping stones on the path to greater things. She became a chunin at the age of fifteen and was placed on the task force. She has performed many missions since then, hardly ever taking any breaks for rest, because she has nothing better to do and no ambition other than completing as many missions as she can. Any time not spent on missions or sleeping is spent training, honing her skills, in the hopes of becoming a jonin quickly.
