Slumber. It truly was like a gift from above. It would have been great if the girl was able to continue her sleep. She had came in late the night before after spending the entire day training with her former academy classmate, Iou. Sadly enough, though, she awoke to the sound of her father yelling at her door.
"Rise and shine little one!" he voiced in his usual loud and overbearing tone. The girl jumped from her dream after hearing her father's voice, first thinking that there was something wrong, but once her brain actually understood the words he said, instead of the volume and tone of his voice, she realized that it wasn't anything of high importance. "It's already ten in the morning! A shinobi can't spend too much of their time sleeping, Mito-chan, you should know that!"
His words came out in a very jokey manner, causing the girl to roll her eyes and turn her back towards her father, attempting to fall back to sleep - if possible. "I don't have any missions and I trained yesterday. I think I deserve some rest, dad." As usual, even while highly upset and annoyed, Mito's voice was calm and collected, carrying along a very elegant and peaceful manner with every word spoken. She didn't really feel like doing anything too early in the morning this morning. Just this one time she wanted to sleep in for awhile, and she gets rudely interrupted in her slumber.
If this was the life of a kunoichi, she seriously had some rethinking to do. After all, she loved her sleep just as much as she loved everything else. It was that important, and her father knew this. That was what made it so weird that he would actually wake her up instead of letting her sleep in and wake up when her body naturally did so on its own. "Get up, Mito-chan! The day awaits you." She shook her head no, while dragging the covers above her head in an attempt to possibly drown out his words, like that would actually help.
Her father would just laugh at her actions and walk over to the bed. Obviously, she couldn't have thought that he would just standby as she tried her best to ignore him. That just wouldn't do! She had to learn who was in charge of the household, who taught her how the way of the shinobi first. Speaking of -which, he used to wake her up early on the regular daily basis back when he first trained her. He didn't exactly understand why she was acting like it was something new now, when it surely wasn't.
He pulled the cover from over her and laughed, "Did you honestly think that would make me turn around and go back downstairs? I came up here for a reason, besides waking you up, don't you think?" Mito let out a slight groan. She really didn't feel like getting up yet, but she was lift her top half up from the cushion bed and stare into her father's eyes. Once again, in a sweet voice she spoke up, "What do you need dad?" Since he brought it up, it did seem odd that he was so focused on waking her up. There had to be a reason, or she truly hoped that there was one, because she didn't want to have been woken up for no reason.
Then he said it, something that sparked up the fuel inside of the little girl. "I was talking with your mother just awhile ago, and from the observations we have made of you over the years, we can tell that you have become quite the kunoichi of the Sarutobi clan. But as you know, when we were your age, both your mother and I were already past the rank of genin. You're twelve... long past, actually." Mito wanted to know exactly where he was going with his statement. At first it sounded like he was saying something nice, like a compliment of her growth, but now he was comparing her to her parents, and making her seem vastly inferior to the two. Why was he even trying to make that message pop inside of her head? What was the point of him telling her this?
She rolled back over to face her dad, and sighed heavily. She had to voice her thoughts because they were really bugging her, "Why exactly are you telling me this, dad? Are you trying to gloat the skills that you and mom had, and show how it surpassed anything that I could ever do? You haven't even seen my shuriken work lately, so how would you know what I could do now?" She was a little aggravated, and her voice surprisingly exemplified it. She never liked her skills being underestimated, especially not by someone who was supposed to be encouraging her to get better.
Mito's father's face grew a small smirk, "I was hoping that my words of truth would inspire you to get up and train! No day in the shinobi life style should be spent resting. You have to use all available time to better your shinobi skills! After all, you will never be able to surpass the rest of your classmates or teammates if you don't practice as hard as you can. I want you to always think of me in the morning, pulling you out of bed, and forcing you to go to the training grounds." You could see the little amount of shine in his eyes, as if he really thought that he was inspiring her to do anything.
Rolling her eyes, she pulled herself around on her bed where her legs were hanging from the end of it. She figured that she would make her father feel good about himself by actually following what he was saying. After all, how hard would it be to train while she was still somewhat tired? She went to train all day the day before, even though right before that day, she came from a tiring mission - her third one. What difference would it be to do it today? Once more, prove her dad wrong, and then she could come back to her bed to sleep off two days worth of work and training. Her father couldn't say anything after that, she wouldn't allow him to do so anyways.
"Fine, dad. I'll get up and go." Words words words. .../2500
