► Reason For Position
As a student of Matsukawa Koza, Kusagakure's Shodai Hanchō, it could perhaps be seen that it is Takezō's right and duty to be the Hanchō. This, however, had very little part in his ascension to the position; he was, quite simply, self-proclaimed. Takezō first proved his capability as a highly capable shinobi with extreme potential simply by his survival through the Scarlet Years, which ended when he was thirteen but had started when he was just nine years old. He was a combatant throughout the entire four years. Following this, as Matsukawa Koza's own student, he took part in both Kusagakure's aid to Takigakure in capturing the Sanbi and the village's own mission to capture the Rokubi as one of the medical support team at the age of just fourteen.
From then on, Takezō began experimental work on genetics, attempting to gain an upper hand in the war. Two years later, after his best friend since the age of three successfully became the Rokubi's Jinchūriki, he was assigned to lead the Jinchūriki's guard squad. Takezō was successful in this mission for over six years, until his friend lost control. It was here that Takezō showed the true measure of his strength; while most of the guard squad were quickly dispatched by the rampaging Bijū, Takezō not only kept it distracted but managed to lure it from the village and hold it off until Koza arrived with backup. Koza was seriously injured in the commotion of the battle, though they succeeded in resealing the Rokubi. Takezō was the most experienced medical ninja in the area and tended to his former master's wounds but, much to hisdelightdismay, he could not save the village's leader.
Following Koza's death, Takezō took over his position as Kusagakure's Hanchō. He was not by the elders, nor did Koza name him on his deathbed - tragically, the man could not speak, for it seemed he had taken an immensely powerful hit to the back of his spine, which had also crushed his lungs... Takezō faced no opposition, however,(at least, none that survived long)and soon his title was unquestioned. Occasionally, some speak of foul play in his rise to power, though doing so seems to be a curse of sorts, since those who do often end up coming to some grisly end not long afterwards... As a result, most tend to avoid the subject.
► Political Standpoint
To say Takezō is for war would be incorrect, though this is often an assumption outsiders make. Perhaps this is because, having grown up in war, he does not think of it as anything out of the ordinary, or even something to be avoided, or perhaps it is because he is so enamoured with power that the thought of war for profit is a frequent visitor to his mind. More likely, however, it is his burning hatred of the Five Great Shinobi Nations and their Hidden Villages, and his overwhelming desire to see all five of them crushed - even his supposed ally, Konohagakure, with whom he maintains such an alliance so as to exploit their power and use it in his campaign against the other villages.
With regards to minor nations, he finds some trust in Takigakure, since he feels that, for now, both Kusagakure and they could stand to profit from their alliance. Nevertheless, should an opportunity arise that would give him reason to betray Takigakure, even to go so far as to declare war, he would be perfectly willing to do so.
With this immense drive for revenge, Takezō neglects the very thing that caused his vengeful nature - Kusagakure. His love for the village drove him to despair as it fell apart around him, it fuelled the hatred he holds for those countries that have harmed it and forced him into the stance he now holds; tyranny with just one goal in mind. Retribution.

Distinctive Traits:
Tatsumi Takezō - or Kensei Takezō, as he prefers - strikes an impressive figure, as would be expected of one nicknamed "Bishamonten"; the God of Warfare. With over six feet of solid, rippling muscle, few could consider themselves his equal in terms of raw physical power. His calloused hands and slightly scarred knuckles are clearly well-used to harsh treatment, which can easily be assumed to be from combat.
Takezō's jet black hair is cut short in a scruffy and slightly longer than average crew-cut, except for that which is tied tightly into a moderately high ponytail, trailing down to around the middle of his back - just above the ends of his shoulder blades. Running down from his hair at the sides, he has thin, roughly trimmed back sideburns, attaching to a chin-strap beard that follows his strong, yet quite square, jawline to a long goatee-like point, accentuating his already sharp and angular chin. Two dark, bushy eyebrows complete a look of rough presentability that almost gives the impression of his hair being a somewhat failed attempt at taming a wild beast. Below these eyebrows sit, more often than not, a pair of sunglasses; frameless, dark red with a slight golden tinge and a a strong, almost opaque tint. Beneath these glasses, though frequently hidden, are, naturally, his eyes. An amber colour, yet without warmth; two unwavering drops of golden ice in the heart of their dark surroundings.
Running diagonally over his left eye is a long scar - a remnant of his battle with the Rokubi after its previous host, Kensei Musashi, lost control and let it loose - reaching right from the top of his forehead to near the back of his jaw. Takezō is rarely found not wearing a mesh armour, most often covered with a black, white-trimmed, short shirt kimono and identically dark, loose trousers. He will often wear a haori, again black, over the top of this, though this will sometimes be replaced by, or at least obscured by, a long, sweeping cloak. Sometimes this is white, though in situations where stealth may be useful, he will don a dark equivalent.
