The other two, she was pretty sure, had graduated before she had, and probably only got stuck with a younger girl because there wasn't anyone else to complete the team. Thus, Rika didn't really know either of them all that well; the most she had interacted with either Akaime or Sayuri was maybe a short introductory conversation, if even that. She didn't like not knowing her teammates; in fact, the young genin thought it would hurt their teamwork if they weren't all friends. And, of course, what girl didn't want more friends? So the blue-haired girl had decided that she should get to know both older girls and befriend them so that when they had to work together in team meetings or spars, they wouldn't have any trouble. Not to mention that Rika was just a nice person, and thus wanted to do something nice for her teammates. She had sent a note to Akaime to ask the girl if she would be willing to come meet her in the park on this date at two o'clock in the afternoon. At quarter till, Rika herself had arrived and seated herself on one of the benches, a little blue box with a ribbon tied around it in her hands. She couldn't help but be a little nervous; what if her teammate thought she was too childish to hang out with, or didn't like the present she had made? Oh, she would hate to disappoint the girl... The box contained a few handmade chocolates which had taken almost all of the previous day for Rika to make; of course, she hadn't made just those four pieces within the container she held. There was another neat little box with four perfect chocolates in it at home for her to give to Sayuri, and a whole giant container full of the pieces that hadn't come out perfectly - Rika would only give her friends the best of the batch. words 350 tags akaime notes 350/2500

Akaime wanted to shine out, and without an airheaded douche – it just became easier to do so. Her teammates – Rika and Sayuri, seemed so passive, it would seem that she would have no competition really. Maybe she would get along with them, or maybe she would ditch the two ninnies if that passiveness got in the way of teamwork. The note she received meant that Rika probably assumed the former. Well, they had similar interests when it came to flightless birds. But that was it. Apart from that fact, it would seem that two distinctly opposite individuals. The young lady, mounted on her grand Ortrich reached the park at about five minutes past two. She got a few strange looks, perhaps because the beast of the bird wasn’t really all that harmless. Looking around, the girl noticed bright blue hair popping out from behind a bench. Without another thought, the girl tugged at the bird’s neck, beckoning it to charge towards the girl’s direction. “REEEKAAA!” Aki called out as the bird charged directly at the bench from behind. Upon closing in on the bench, the giant leapt in the air nearly missing Rika’s head. Almost immediately after, the bird turned around and made one heck of a shrill sound as it lowered its head – staring at the young genin right in the eyes. It was Umou's way of judging whether the person before him was a threat or not. “Hey! You wanted to see me?” Akaime popped her head from behind the bird. The bird immediately retracted its head and began pecking at the box next to the girl. The feathered giant concluded the Rika was no threat and instead went for the edibles in the box. Akaime’s tone was her usual happy-go-lucky self. A smile spread across her face as she eyed the girl. It didn’t occur to her that her bird nearly took off her teammate’s head. The bird was nearly twice her height and, if she was to be completely honest, it was a little bit scary... She flinched when the flightless bird stared right into her eyes, as if assessing whether or not she was a predator o-or prey... The girl was glad she had left Gentou at home; he would have tried to pick a fight with the much bigger bird and probably gotten horribly injured in the process. "I'm glad you came, Akaime-chan." Now that she had gotten over the momentary fear of the intimidating ostrich, Rika smiled brightly at the older girl. Nervously she moved to take the box from the bench and hand it to Akaime - unsure of whether or not the bird would turn on her for taking away the object of its curiosity - and she was sure the other genin would see how her hands shook very slightly. "I-I made some chocolates for you... I think he wants them, but I don't know if it's okay to give chocolate to ostriches..." If it was, then she would be sure to bring some extra for the bird next time she saw the two... but she kind of doubted it. Plus, he would probably eat the box and the ribbon too. Her overall first impression of her older teammate was that the girl was loud, kind of in-your-face, the type of person that made a statement just by doing what she would normally do.
