TONIGHT, I SHALL BE HERE. A bright and sunny day that held the winds of adventure and exploration just waiting for someone to seize it! That was not the case, at all, by any stretch of the imagination. In fact things were quite the opposite as it was near dusk and fairly chilly given the season. Now why would someone be out at a time like this? There were no parties or festivals to attend and most of the villagers had turned in for the evening; so what was the occasion? Well, that was all a matter of perspective, you see, and boy was that a subjective term! Letters had been sent out a few days prior to the homes of three Genin, all female and going by the names Kano Rika, Tozuka Akaime, and Asagi Sayuri. Each were interesting in their respective ways but had quite a ways to go before they could be of any true value to the village, and that was where Noriaki came in to the picture. Not too long ago the man had been tasked with leading a team of Genin and had spent a considerable amount of time preparing for it. The days of him being sent on high ranking missions, while not over, were going to start dwindling now that he was in charge of these three. In the field that many shinobi had come to know as Training Ground 1E there would be nothing spectacular, well, that was a lie. There were lightning bugs, quite a few in fact, numbering somewhere around a couple hundred. They were small in size but the multitude of them allowed the light they gave off to illuminate the area, especially in the fading sunlight. The letter the three Genin had received instructed them to arrive at dusk to begin team activities. Why had the man chosen such a time to meet when most others met in the morning? Simple, because he didn't like going with the status quo, and these three newbies were soon to find this out. WORDS, 341/1,250 TAGS, HERE NOTES, HERE

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true] and if it ends today well i'll still say that you shine brighter than anyone It was finally the day of the first meeting of her genin team, and to say that Rika was excited would be an understatement. She absolutely couldn't wait to meet her sensei and her other teammate - she had previously made the acquaintance of Akaime and her ostrich, a loud girl and a loud bird, but she liked them both nonetheless. Even if the girl could be pretty scary... Well, since Rika hadn't had the opportunity to meet with Sayuri before the team meeting had been called, she had figured that she would just take the other girl's present to the meeting with her, and put together something for her sensei and another for Akaime too, since she couldn't show up with treats for one person and not the others. Thus, with three neat little white boxes tied with blue ribbons the shade of Rika's hair, and her darling blue jay Gentou perched on her shoulder and chirping at her, the young girl set out just before dusk to head to the training ground where the four were to meet. Upon her arrival, the training ground was occupied by one single person, the team's sensei: Fukui Noriaki, who was wearing sunglasses even though it was dark, and didn't seem to have a shirt on under his flak jacket... He certainly seemed to be an interesting character already. "Hello, Noriaki-sensei. It's nice to meet you. I'm Rika, and this is Gentou. Say hi, Gentou." she greeted him, attention mostly stolen by the glowing fireflies that lit the area. Gentou chirped at Noriaki then made an honest effort to eat one, until she told him sternly not to eat the lights. "I made you something... Here, I hope you like it." She offered one of the boxes to the man. Inside it, he would find a few pieces of homemade chocolate that she'd made all by herself, an achievement she was quite proud of. Out in the moonlight. A rather unusual time to arrange a meeting. Strange. But Akaime wasn't complaining. In-fact, the girl was more than happy to comply to the note she had received. It was not in accordance to what she heard from the older genin - the dreaded 'team meeting before sunrise' tradition. Perfectly normal! At least in her books...

The girl was yet again mounted on her feathery friend. Being apart from her ostrich - Umou was impossible. They were inseparable. Fortunately though, the two weren't all that pumped, for all that juvenile energy had been used up during the day. As of such, a simple walk to the park was all that happened. Nevertheless, the duo looked rather suspicious and even scary during the night.

As she neared 1E, the girl made out two figures not too far away, one which she recognized! She tugged at the nape of the bird; instantly the bird fastened its pace towards the two. "REEKA!!" the girl shouted out as she neared. She liked the blue haired girl. Sweet, generous with them chocolates and easy to dupe, a perfect pet if Aki played her cards right. "Kon'nichiwa~" her tone sweetened as she dismounted her ride . The bird stopped near the young genin and lowered its head to make eye contact with the older man. The bird's stare was accompanied by a shrill voice. A sort of 'I've got my eyes on you' warning.

"Aww. Umou likes you~" the girl turned her attention to her sensei, trying to cover up the threat he made. Usually, people in the bird's blacklist didn't stick around too long, and for good reason no less. The genin was quite impressed as she scanned the man. Sunglasses! Blue spiky hair! Those were enough to send her the message that her sensei was some sort of rockstar. She sought herself lucky to have such a sensei. And if those skills of his matched that look - even better! "Woah, awesome hairstyle sensei! I'm Aki and this is Umou!" she exclaimed with a light bow. Her attention was now totally focused on the man. Soo much that she didn't notice Umou harass Rika for a box by pecking at it.

TAGS NORIAKI, RIKA, & AKAIME WORDS 431/1250 NOTES Sorry for the late reply, had some RL issues to deal with. Sayuri had been running a little behind on the events today. Feeling slightly bad that she wouldn`t be there first really began to take a toll on her, something about wanting to be the first to do everything and anything that she could. Quickly she got dressed and made her way from her house, it wasn`t common for her to be last minute but she wasn`t to excited to meet the rest of the team, it was something of a shame that she had to come work with another two girls, She was worried that she wouldn`t fit in, besides she liked to be on her own. It was easier to keep her distance and not be a burden. Sayuri wasn`t physical strong, and she didnt have anything special about her. Something was odd about Sayuri and everyone she knew pointed it out. The timing was perfect she was only a minute or two late, the other girls had already arrived. Their teacher seemed to be a bit, offish to her. Moving slowly and cautiously she noticed the hare, it was a bit nerve wrecking to see that thing up close and personal. Moving slightly away from the crowd she kept her head down her light hair falling around her face enough that she could still see but would be harder to see her face. She`d been in her normal outfit, normally people would recognize her for the style she tended to wear but she liked to pretend like she wasn`t there. Her eyes scanned over the three people standing so close her body had chills from the thought of having to go near them to introduce herself and her voice of course was not loud enough to project towards them so she could just pretend like she wasn`t there. Against her better judgement Sayuri decided to take a step towards the group and when she did she`d stumbled over her own foot falling to the ground with a soft grunt. A bright flushed covered her cheek as she stood up and moved so that she could stand up dusting herself off, no need to hide now she thought to herself as she moved slowly and carefully her honey colored eyes looking towards the three in the area. "So...sorry I`m late." her voice was soft and childlike, almost scared of the world around her. She could only hope and pray that they would not hate her or even worse yell at her for being a few minutes later than them.

TONIGHT, I SHALL BE HERE. They were actually quite beautiful, the fireflies, though they did take up a considerable amount of chakra and were meant mostly for attacking purposes. However, the little balls of light also proved quite the useful light source in the fading sun. Besides, how ridiculous would it have been to hold a meeting, the first meeting, at night without being able to see each other? Like Noriaki would ever allow that to happen! His fanciful ruminations were broken by the sound of a rather light voice, and a shift of vision revealed a small girl and an even smaller bird. Damn. The Jounin had wanted to make some grand entrance when the trio had arrived but had gotten so caught up in the fireflies that he forgot to hide. Oh well, maybe next time. "First to arrive, I see? Oh, and gifts! I like you already!" The man replied with a big grin, he always enjoyed getting free stuff, especially if it was in the food category. Then came another voice, this time farther away but much louder than the first girl. Perhaps it was the fading light playing tricks on him, or maybe there was a gas leak somewhere because seeing a half girl/half ostrich surely was not ordinary. As the pair neared, however, Noriaki realized that his fears were only half dismissed, it was simply a girl riding an ostrich. This was definitely strange, a complete 180 from Rika, and though he wanted to ask where one would come across an ostrich that would have to be saved for later. The bird shrieked and gave a menacing look, to which the Jounin returned the gaze. He sure as hell wasn't about to be punked out by an over sized pigeon. "Welcome welcome, and nice bird by the way. I've heard they taste just like chicken." Noriaki said with a straight face as he shot a glance to the bird. "Juuuust joking." He added with a laugh to dismiss any ill thoughts, but in reality Noriaki was going to eat that bird. Before another word could be spoken the familiar sound of flesh hitting the ground rang through the near silent dusk. Shielded eyes looked toward the epicenter to see a small girl picking herself up from the ground. The girl seemed scared and bashful. One of the shy types, eh? Always interesting to deal with due to their fragile nature. While many had good intentions trying to get those types of people to break out of their shell it usually did more harm than good. Immediately the man could see some interesting interactions between Sayuri and Aki. "Not a problem, you're right on time!" He replied with a smile. Now that the whole gang had assembled it was time to get things underway. Just what that meant, exactly, was still a bit unknown. Noriaki was a go with the flow kind of guy, yes even when it came to leading a team of Genin, but he did have a few ideas rollin' around the ole noggin. "Alrighty, we're all here so let's get this going. The name is Fukui Noriaki and from today onwards I'm going to be your sensei. Though I wish the times were better suited for such a young group we are in the midst of dark times and there's no need to sugar coat it. As ninja, we are the village's life line and main line of defense should something happen so it is my duty to make sure you three are ready to defend Taki with your lives." A bit dark, yes, but these three no longer had the veil of ignorance hovering around them and needed to hear what horrors this world had waiting in store for them. "But we'll be alright. Not like we're fighting or anything, probably a lot of info gathering and supply moving. However! No need to dwell on that for now, there's something I want you guys to see!" With those last words Noriaki took off running past the trio and headed due west. While it seemed rather odd there would be little time for the girls to lollygag. The fireflies, while pretty, were still the product of a technique and were designed to attack. Granted, they weren't going to go after the girls or anything, just explode. Yep, first it was one then five then fifteen. In due time the sky would begin to light up with small sparks of fire that by themselves did next to nothing, but considering that they numbered in the hundreds if any of the girls didn't make haste they'd get some pretty nasty burns. She had met the older girl before, and while she was also kinda scary and really loud and more than a little intimidating, the younger genin was pretty fond of her already. Umou the ostrich was pretty cool too, except he had a creepy death stare and a habit of trying to take whatever Rika was holding. "Hi, Aki-chan!" The ostrich, of course, went immediately for one of the boxes she held, and the girl giggled. "Sorry, Umou, I forgot to bring you your own box. You'll have to share with Aki-chan this time, okay?" When the last member of the team, Sayuri, arrived, Rika almost couldn't believe that the girl was actually older than her - a good four inches or so shorter, and she sounded so young... Rika kind of just wanted to hug her. "Hi, Sayuri-chan! It's nice to finally meet you. Here, I made these for you." And so she offered the last box of chocolates to the girl while Gentou was eying Umou, something the girl put a stop to as soon as she noticed. The last thing she needed was for Gentou to get all aggressive and get himself hurt trying to take on the ostrich. She didn't quite know what to make of Noriaki yet. He certainly seemed a little... off his rocker already, but she supposed that she couldn't really form a good opinion until she'd seen him for longer than five minutes... "Um, I like you too?" He then gave a little speech about their duties, and said there was something he wanted them to see.. And he took off as the little fireflies started exploding. After a nervous glance at Aki and Sayuri, Rika took off after Noriaki, not too keen on getting caught in the middle of a few hundred exploding fireflies. words 327 tags noriaki, akaime, sayuri notes 671/1250, can i just hug all of your characters, lulu
