Just positively awful. Sato wasn't a big fan of the heat, but he didn't particularly feel like staying inside for today either. So, the Uchiha found himself laying on top of a brick display that rose a few feet off the ground, hands laced behind his head for comfort. There was one thing he had to admit the heat was good for- helping a guy drift off to sleep.
As a matter of necessity, Sato trained himself to be a very light sleeper. Every small chirp or thunk jolted him awake, but he managed to go right back to sleep every time. Since he wasn't on a mission, he was wearing his standard outfit, which had the Uchiha's clan symbol emblazoned on his shoulders, collar, and back, making his identity fairly easy to guess for even the most unobservant buffoon in Konoha.
As it was, Sato probably would have been arrested had any members of the Police Force come by. His snoring was loud enough to wake the dead- disturbing the peace, public vagrancy, loitering...essentially, the man was making a public menace of himself for no good reason.

There was something about sunshine that just made her feel better, and less liable to punch stupid people in the face. She had escaped the Yamanaka compound and the ever-present overbearing floral stench in favor of just chilling in the park and enjoying the nice day. Maybe she would go find Shikaya and coax the girl into doing something fun with her, or something. Honestly, anything to get away from her mopey older brother for a little while. She had decided to head to a sweets shop first to pick up something deliciously unhealthy to snack on, and was walking past a brick display when she heard an alarmingly loud snore. Its source would be found on top of the bricks - oh, and look who it was, a lazy Uchiha jonin by the name of Satori. And the sensei of her team, apparently.. though he didn't really look like much of a teacher, and probably had his head too far up his ass to teach any of them anything. Inori hopped up onto the bricks and sat on the little available space, next to the man's head. She poked his forehead. "Disturbing the peace much, Uchiha?" While she knew all Uchihas weren't pretty boy assholes - the boy Takezo being the prime example - she couldn't help but assume that they were right off the bat, so that when they didn't turn out to be nice, they had met her expectations instead of disappointing her. And the younger Uchihas, the ones her age, had to learn how to act like bastards from somebody, right? So she figured the older generation was just as bad, if not worse. words 300 tags satori notes 300/2500 our broken hearts and twisted minds |

Even though he pretended it didn't bother him, constantly returning to the village alone, covered in his comrade's blood was enough to scar even the toughest of minds.
No, in this dream, the Uchiha simply found himself sitting in the middle of an empty field, not a single tree or structure on the horizon. A single snow white fox sat in front of him, staring up into his eyes. Sato simply responded by shaking his head and laughing softly, speaking only a single word in both this world and reality, "Inari...". No sooner than he'd spoken, a tap at his forehead tore him from the dream, jolting him awake yet again. Instantly he sprung into a sitting position, holding a kunai to the throat of the person who dared wake him from his slumber.
It only took a moment for Sato to recognize the girl standing beside him, and where he currently was. He let out a soft sigh and flicked his wrist, storing the kunai back into his sleeve before laying down again. He hadn't meant to scare the girl, his body had simply moved on impulse...but now that it was clear there was no danger, he could relax. His gaze turned back towards the sky even as he addressed the girl. She seemed a bit familiar, but her long yellow hair told him all that he needed to know- she was a Yamanaka brat.
"So...to what do I owe the pleasure?" It was clear the girl had a distaste for the Uchiha...but then, he didn't particular like the Yamanaka either. It was a Yamanaka that defeated him in the Chuunin Exam, after all. He didn't mind that he was beaten, but that loss served as a catalyst for being put through his father's...training. He would have called it intense, but that's not nearly a strong enough word for it...

Still, she couldn't help but flinch, then turn an angry glare on the jonin. "You make a habit of slitting the throats of anyone that wakes you up, Uchiha?" While she knew that was a common reaction from older shinobi - her father had nearly slit her throat on accident the one time she dared to wake him up - she couldn't help but snap at the man for it, likely because he was an Uchiha, and they were assholes. Inori stifled a sigh. The man didn't seem to recognize that she was one of his students - why he had been put in charge of the Ino-Shika-Ho team in the first place, when they usually had a Sarutobi for a sensei (according to her father, anyway) was a mystery. She didn't want a freaking Uchiha for a teacher any more than she wanted to take a kunai to the face. But that was a grievance for another time. "You are Uchiha Satori, right? I don't have the wrong one?" she asked, just to make sure - it would be a pain in the ass to find out she'd been yelling at the wrong Uchiha, after all. And really, they all looked the same to her. "You're apparently supposed to be my sensei. I was just wondering when our team was going to do, well, anything." It would be bad enough to have an Uchiha as a sensei - but gods, if he was a lazy bastard with a poor work ethic? That was going to be even worse. words 308 tags satori notes 608/2500 our broken hearts and twisted minds |

She really had no idea, did she? "I do actually, yes. It's a habit that you should probably pick up sometime." Although it was a bit of a smartass comment, he was genuinely serious. If one wasn't combat ready at a moment's notice, even immediately after being jolted away, then they wouldn't live for very long in this particular profession.
From what he knew about the Yamanaka, they tended to be stubborn and hard-headed...and it seems like that stereotype carried over to this girl. It was too early in the day for him to deal with something like this..."Well, I'll have you know that I'm actually waiting for a woman. A very pretty woman. With, ah...sizable assets." His eyes drifted down to the girl's chest for a moment before looking back up at her. It was a lie, of course, but he just felt like this girl could use a bit of fluster. Punishment for waking him up in the middle of such a relaxing dream, at least.
But when the girl called him by name, he tilted his head to the side and raised an eyebrow, both a little confused and suddenly interested. Then she explained...and he suddenly felt bad about his earlier joke. That was going to come bite him in the ass later, he was sure of it. "...Huh. You're Inori, then?" He turned back to look at the sky and sighed softly, "You want to get to shoveling dung that quickly, huh? Well, whatever floats your boat.."

I'll be sure to stab you if you ever wake me up, don't worry." Inori deadpanned, nearly rolling her eyes. She knew it was a beneficial habit to have, but hey, she was just a genin; that was something that developed a little later in life, when one had better reflexes and slept lightly and whatnot. Perhaps she should be more respectful to the jonin, but.. Nah. She didn't really have any respect for him, and wouldn't until he showed her that he was more than just another pretty boy with special eyes. Inori raised an eyebrow. "Really, now." She wasn't exactly flustered - more annoyed than anything else. She hated perverts, and if not for the fact that she would never manage it, she would have tried to punch him right in his smug little face. "Sorry, Uchiha - I have standards." Hopefully, he didn't actually have a taste for little girls, or she might have to do more than just poke him while he was sleeping in order to protect Shikaya, who was younger than Inori and definitely looked it. "No, Uchiha. Clearly, I'm Akimichi Hoji." There was something about Uchihas that just brought out her inner sarcastic self and let it run wild and free. She shrugged at him. "Shoveling dung is more productive than doing nothing. I don't have an endless supply of cash from working at the family's flower shop, y'know." Most genin didn't want anything to do with certain D-Rank missions, and though she could agree that they could be annoying, at least you got paid for them. That was a good enough reason for Inori to want to do them. It wasn't uncommon to get assigned missions even without your team, but with a sensei arranging things, you tended to get them more often. words 319 tags satori notes 927/2500 our broken hearts and twisted minds |

He almost had half a mind to cast a particularly nasty Genjutsu on her...maybe later. While Sato was a bit more in control of his emotions than most, he was sure that by now, she'd have really dug underneath the skin of most of the Uchiha he knew. "You should watch that mouth of yours. It'll get you in trouble for sure." While it might have sounded like a threat to the overly sensitive, Satori was actually more amused than upset...for now, anyway.
After the girl continued on with her comments, Sato hopped off the display and stretched a little before looking down at the girl, "Akimichi, huh...? Yeah, I can see it now. Don't know how I missed that waistline of yours- dead giveaway." Sato rather enjoyed verbally sparring, even if it was with a Genin. It was always so... enlightening. "You want to make some money, then? Heh. I can think of a couple ways you could pick up a few Ryo here and there." He shook his head as he started to walk away, gesturing with his hand for her to follow. 994/2500 Words

Was her mouth liable to get her into trouble? Probably, yes, but it only ran like that around those who irritated her - the Uchiha being the prime example. If she could have read his mind at that moment, perhaps she would have thought better of continuing to snark at him. Yet, despite what her Clan could do, she couldn't simply read minds - a pity, that was. It might have been foolish, but Inori couldn't really say she was afraid of the Uchiha's wrath. Sure, he could yell at her - oh, isn't that just the scariest thing ever - or he could attack her - and get in a metric ton of trouble for it, from her father at the very least. She figured he wouldn't even bother - a genin wasn't worth getting your ass in trouble. At least, not in her opinion, anyway. At least he could snark back at her, something that she actually considered a redeeming quality; too many people, Uchihas especially, had their heads stuck up their asses, and thus had no sense of humor whatsoever. She didn't get much in the way of verbal sparring from her peers, so to find an adult that would banter with her was... refreshing, even if he was an ass. Inori really would have liked to smack Satori at that moment, for of course, she had interpreted his words in the worst way possible. "You're such a pervert, Uchiha." she muttered under her breath as he started walking away, probably just audible enough for him to hear. "And where, exactly, are we going?"Yes, she removed herself from her seat on the brick display and followed him, even though she had an inkling that it wasn't the wisest idea... words 302 tags satori notes 1229/2500 our broken hearts and twisted minds |

It was apparent that she thought herself above the code of conduct for whatever reason- possibly because of who her father was. Being able to put her in her place would really just make his day. At first he considered bringing her to a seedier part of the village to introduce her to gambling...and wagering her as his buy-in, but perhaps that was a little too cruel, even for him.
He shrugged at the girl's comment, not bothering to look to see if she was indeed following him, "I do have a name you know, Akimichi." He also knew that she knew it, considering she'd mentioned it earlier in the conversation. With the girl in tow, Satori slowly made his way through the village, clasping his hands behind his head while whistling softly, "By the way, if the reason you're picking a fight with me is because you have a thing for some Uchiha and this is just your way of working out that crush of yours..." He looked behind him, wearing a hard expression for the first time, "Don't. You'll only be hurt in the end. One way or another." He stared for a moment before letting out a deep sigh and closed his eyes before facing forward again, "Well, we're almost there. Prepare yourself..."

Just a warning." she commented dryly. Not that she actually thought something like that was going to happen; Satori might have been a bastard Uchiha, but he wasn't exactly an idiot. Unless he actually snapped and murdered her himself - unlikely, of course - she would return from the outing mostly unscathed. "Yes, and you have a surname too. It just so happens that that's the one I prefer using, Uchiha." she replied, nearly rolling her eyes. "Do you have a problem with that?" If he did, too damn bad. He was 'Uchiha' and that was all; she was not going to call him Satori until she felt like it. While it was a mostly useless bit of stubbornness to refuse to call him by his first name, it was a matter of... not pride, exactly, but she wasn't going to stop referring to him the way she wanted to until she earned being called Satori. As strange as that might sound. The face she made when the man insinuated that she had a crush on an Uchiha was priceless. "What didn't you get about 'I have standards,' Uchiha? Please. I'd rather date my brother than an Uchiha like you." She shook her head. "Just the thought of kissing one of you is a bit nauseating." Perhaps she was being a little facetious - she didn't hate the thought of kissing an Uchiha that much; once you got past the snobby asshole aspect, most of them were pretty damn hot. You know, for being Uchihas and all. "You still haven't told me where we're going..." she muttered under her breath, sending a glare Satori's way. words 307 tags satori notes 1536/2500 our broken hearts and twisted minds |

Her parents must be proud of raising such a spitfire. "I've fought ghosts before, girl. They're not as tough as you might think." That wasn't a joke, either. When you get to be as old as Satori, you see some shit. Still, she had yet more and more to say. It would almost be worth it to tie her from a lamppost by her ankles. But instead of carrying out that little fantasy, Satori simply pointed over his shoulder with his thumb, signalling the Uchiha's crest on his back, "A problem? Not particularly. I'm not particularly ashamed of my heritage. You really should watch your tongue, though... it could get you arrested~."
Well, they were quickly approaching their destination, so there was little chance of him scaring the girl off by this point. "If it makes you feel any better, I would probably date your brother before you, too." The side of his mouth curled up into a slight smirk, sure that would fluster her. If the girl was paying more attention to her surroundings than him, she might notice that they'd entered the Uchiha compound- so if she planned on fleeing, now would probably be the time, "Keep your panties on, we're almost there."

I'll haunt you till you lose your little mind. If you haven't already, that is." Her tone had become a little lighter - clearly teasing, as if it hadn't been evident already. Well, not everyone had the same sort of deadpan sense of humor as the young Yamanaka. While she didn't care all that much about offending his delicate sensibilities, she figured that she was just as likely to piss him off and, honestly, that wasn't going to end well no matter how she spun it. "Oh, no. Please don't arrest me for being sarcastic. What ever would I do? How could I go on?" she deadpanned. Inori snorted. "Please, Uchiha. I repeat: standards." Not to mention she'd probably disown him for dating a prat like Satori anyway... if the man even made it past the Dad Test, which she was sure he wouldn't. If anyone disliked Uchihas more than she did, it was her father - which was, of course, where she had likely picked up the slight prejudice from. "I'm sorry, but you're just not pretty enough. Maybe if you'd fix the hair, he might consider it. But I doubt it." That wasn't even close to flustering her; in fact, she probably just would have went on some sort of a tirade no matter how he answered. "Oh gods, you're taking me into your lair. The horror. I think I might faint." A brief pause. "You're going to get arrested for being a pedophile if you keep making comments about my panties. Dirty perv." While she was still clearly joking - because he'd already made several sexual comments at her - hell, she wouldn't doubt anything coming from a bastard Uchiha. words 303 tags satori notes 1839/2500 our broken hearts and twisted minds |

He had worked with Inodori in the past, and the man was just as hardheaded as this girl. Although, not nearly as snarky by his recollection. On the other hand, it would be considered very unprofessional for someone of Inodori's stature to be making the quips that Sato was. Of course, it was just as unprofessional for he himself to be making them, but that wasn't a major concern for him.
Satori crossed his arms over his chest and looked back over his shoulder at the girl, eyebrow raised, "And what, praytell, is wrong with my hair? My hair is great!" He huffed loudly in annoyance. Although he wasn't really upset at her, he did actually like his hair. He also took minor offense at the pretty comment, but he wasn't about to get in an argument over the girl about which of them was prettier.
He shrugged at her final comment, stopping in front of a moderately large building and reaching into his robes for a key, "My lair...? You could call it that." Once he found the tool, he'd unlock the door and push it open before stepping inside. The interior of the house was pitch black despite it being daytime, not having any windows or openings of any sort aside form the door, which cast a small rectangle of light on the floor. Satori slowly stepped inside, vanishing into the darkness, "Hey, close that behind you, would ya?"

If there was one thing she knew about Uchiha men, it was that they cared more about their hair than Yamanaka women did - and that was a freaking accomplishment. She had just had to wait until the right moment to slip a hair comment in, and of course, the moment had come, and it was almost glorious. He sounded so offended. It took a ton of effort for her not to burst out laughing and just restrain her amusement to a simple smirk. "Dude, really? Have you looked in a mirror lately? Grow that mop out anymore and it's going to look like a duck's ass. Which, by the way, is really unattractive." Thankfully, he couldn't make any such comment about her hair - she'd put in the extra effort to straighten it today, so instead of being tied into two ponytails it just hung straight down to the middle of her back. "If this was a bad horror movie, this is the part where you would turn out to be some crazy rapist murderer guy. Y'know, hiding your identity as a serial killer through your status as chief of police, or something." she commented. Real life wasn't like the movies, though - so while she didn't exactly doubt that he was a little fucked up, he wasn't bad horror movie fucked up. The interior of the house - or lair, rather - was pitch black. Of course. "Have to have your house as black as your soul, do you?"She was beginning to rethink following him, but hell, it was too late to turn around and leave now. Somewhat reluctantly, Inori headed into the house after Satori and, as requested, pulled the door shut behind her. He was going to kill this girl. He was going to kill her and stash the body under his house. "I'll have you know that plenty of women like my hair. Maybe you just have bad taste. With little more to say, Satori slowly formed a sequence of handseals before bringing a hand up to his mouth, spitting out a small group of fireballs- little more than sparks, really. Each individual fireball was controlled by his chakra, ensuring that all of them arrived at their intended destination. Almost on cue, numerous candles, about ten, sprung to life as his jutsu lit them all at once.
It was still a bit hard to see in the dull light, but Satori's eyes had already adjusted to the darkness. He used candles as a lightsource only out of personal preference- they added to the ambiance. Piles of neatly stacked scrolls and folders were spread throughout the room, most relating to some case or another. Aside from that...there wasn't much else in this room. A few drawers and shelves to hold the papers, but that was it. Satori slid off his cape and hung it near the door before placing a hand on his left shoulder, stretching it out a little, "Although this might seem surprising to you, I actually do have work to get done. I'd planned on eating out today, but since you so graciously volunteered, you'll be cooking for me tonight. Consider this to be an unofficial D-rank mission. If you do well, I'll pay you. If you do poorly, they'll never find the body. Right?"
