If anyone ever asked him he would probably tell them that being leader of a village isn't everything people think it is. Sure people in general respect you, but really everything is just all business. You never get time to yourself. You never get to have fun like in the old days. All you ever seem to do is sit at a desk all day and fill out dull old boring paperwork. Never, is there anything new. Never.
He honestly never wanted this job. He never wanted to be Tsuchikage it just kind of happened, and now, everyone always looked to him for their situations to be solved. Never once was he able to worry about his own personal matters. He wasn't able to be present at his daughters' graduation from the academy. He wasn't able to comfort her when her heart was broken. He wasn't able to protect her when the other shinobi ostracized her. Instead he was forced to simply watch, from the high up solitude of his tower. He was forced to care about the other citizens when he simply couldn't.
Today was no such exception. Upon waking up this morning he was already all too well aware that today would perhaps even be worse than his typical day as a Kage. He could feel it deep down in the pit of his stomach that something distasteful would occur. Even so, he managed to slowly pull himself up out of his bed that he shared with his apathetic wife and assistant. As he sat up on the edge of the bed, he turned his head just enough to his right to see his wife had departed some time ago. Probably had some duties of her own to take care of, which was fine by him, he wasn't in the mood for their typical bantering back and forth as they got dressed.
He sighed a rather exasperated sigh as he closed his single crimson orb while turning to face forward once more and pulling himself up painfully slow from the comfort of their shared bed. He placed one hand on its respective knee using it to help him gain leverage as he stood up before stumbling forward a couple of steps. Once he gained his balance he wandered over to his own respective dresser, once owned by his missing in action father, and pulled the top drawer open where he found a choice of various clothing garments to choose from.
It would take the solemn Tsuchikage mere minutes to get dressed in his typical mesh armor and loose jumpsuit before he wandered over to the bed side table within which his flak jacket and coat rested. He donned his sleeveless coat first before he put on his flak jacket making it appear that a lapel rested around his waist. Afterwards he grasped his shikomizue in his right hand and proceeded to depart from the dreary room.
Being Tsuchikage often meant that you had no time for yourself or your family. This concept was pushed onto the select person even more so by requiring them to live in what is known as the Tsuchikage manor. In Iwagakure the Kage's manor is a tall building of circular design. It is perhaps four or five stories tall and built out of extremely sturdy stone. Every design of the building is clear cut and cold. Definitely not fit for a family man, such as Chinatsu liked to fancy himself to be. He was separated from his clan when he was younger, around the age of nineteen really, to live with his first wife, the Tsuchikage of the time. It had been hard for him. He was indeed a family man after all, and not only that, but the leader of his clan. The change from homey, warm, and calm, to dark, cold, and damp, was drastic for the man, and it definitely wasn't something he wanted to ever raise a family in. However, he had not that choice of luxury.
In his twentieth year the twins were born into this world of cold, dark, and damp. He was forced to spend as much time with them as he could in the six years he was able to actually be a decent father to them. However, in his opinion, everything went down hill when their mother died, by his own hand nonetheless. He, being seen as the hero of the stone, was 'promoted' to Tsuchikage against his own best wishes. He became too busy to be able to do much of anything for his little girls except maybe eat dinner with them at least once a week. He felt useless to them. He wanted to help them grow. Wanted to be there for them, and yet, he had been turned into a tool for the stone. He despised that. He wanted someone else to take over his position. Someone more willing to do good for the village.
Was it really so bad that he wanted to at least be a little selfish? He didn't think so, but he knew others would. If the village elders didn't think it was, then at least his clan elders would, and if they didn't then he knew he wouldn't hear the end of it from Masumi. Really his life was nothing but a viscous cycle. A cycle that he had made worse but trying to purge this accursed world of anything to do with his late wife's most grave mistake. He wanted to preserve her memory as a good one. Wanted to idolize her, but that would be stupid. She was, less than perfect, that he knew, but still he wanted to be her's and only her's. He wanted to love the children spawned from the two of them. He longed to be held with those arms of her's. He wanted to at least be able to grieve her loss.
That reminded him, today was their anniversary, what's more than that, it was not only the anniversary of their marriage, but her death.
