Satori was standing at attention with his arms crossed over his chest. To either side was a member of the police force- Tenzo and Kitae Uchiha. It was Tenzo that had spoken, wringing his hands nervously. Satori placed his hand on Tenzo's shoulder and shook him a little, "Worried? What for?" Tenzo opened his mouth to speak, but Kitae cut him off, "Well... this guy is supposed to be bad news, isn't he? We don't really know anything about him aside from his name. For some reason, despite being a Konoha Jounin, nobody could tell us what his abilities were... we're going in blind. Isn't that enough?"Satori merely shrugged and looked forward, releasing Tenzo's shoulder. They were currently in one of the many tunnels that ran underneath the village. Most were used for sewerage, and the few that were used for... other purposes had largely been abandoned. But it seems as though someone got the bright idea to hole themselves up here and start kidnapping villagers for some nefarious purpose. Of course, as a Captain of the Keimu Butai, Satori couldn't stand for it. Although a number of his men had volunteered for this mission, he personally chose Tenzo and Kitae for it. There was some unrest by those who felt he was unfairly favoring his own clan, especially since Tenzo wanted no part of this particular mission. But the true reason that Satori was taking the pair is that, even though they'd attempted to keep it a secret, Satori knew the two were engaged. Although it was risky to have his team harboring those kinds of feelings, which could lead to poor choices on the battlefield... it also meant that if one was endangered, the other would fight that much harder to ensure their safety. Besides, reliability was boring. This was much more fun. "Right, then. Let's begin the operation." "D-Do we really have to? Can't we wait a bit longer?" Kitae moved over and punched Tenzo in the shoulder, "Man up and follow the Captain's orders." Satori simply lowered his head and chuckled lightly at their interaction. Tenzo really had his hands full with this one. Even though they were both Uchiha and Chuunin besides, neither of the two had unlocked their Sharingan yet. But that was to be expected, as only a select few members of the Uchiha clan ever awoke that particular ability. Still, this was the time for action. Satori looked over his shoulder at Tenzo, sporting a severe look, "The longer we wait, the more villagers we lose. That's unacceptable. Don't forget that this is just as much of a rescue mission as anything else. Get your act together, Tenzo, we're going in." Kitae shot a death glare at Tenzo, angry that he was admonished by the Captain. Still, the three headed deeper into the sewers, coming into a larger chamber where they believed the target to be located. "One by one, they all fall down," sang a somewhat higher pitch yet masculine voice, "All fall down~" The distinct metallic sound of a knife sharpening could be heard between the verses. "Cut them up with hardened steel~" With a white gloved hand the blonde haired male held a large butcher knife up for his dual chromatic eyes to inspect. The crimson one saw nothing but perfection, while the golden one saw nothing but error. Still, he continued on with his twisted little tune as he went back to sharpening and honing the blade. "Hardened steel~"
A single lantern hung from the center point of the ceiling in the room, and swayed every now and then as wind currents changed within the passage ways. The room was quite large with two exits or entryways. One, of course, was hidden, only known to he whom hath been dubbed, the Butcher. The other was common knowledge to those who knew the passageways anyway. In fact the room was so large that the lantern's flickering light did not reach all of the nooks and crannies that it had to offer. This was either because of sheer distance, or because of crate upon crates stacked on top of one another in the corner.
"My cruel Maiden." he finished his little tune with a small smile adorning his lips as he once again held the knife up to the light. When he was at long last satisfied with his work he placed it back onto the crate next to a wonderful assortments of knives that ranged from scalpels to bone saws. Anything that could cut flesh really.
He turned sharply on the ball of his foot as he made a brisk walk across the room with his long blonde tresses bouncing with nearly every step. "My oh my, it seems that I'll be having company soon," his voice nearly sang as he approached his final remaining living guest. He reached out towards her placing his forefinger and thumb under her chin as his smile spread somewhat suggesting his dastardly plans. The woman in turn panicked under his touch and writhed trying to break free to no avail. "My... sweet... robin." He traced a finger up the side of her face before resting it on her sweet, soft lip. Then, he pulled his hand away and produced a scalpel from his coat, "Where shall I begin?"
By the time the uninvited guests would arrive at his little tea party it would be all too late. The butcher would be once again singing his twisted song while sharpening his knives. "One by One, they all fall down~" Made by Tosuke of BTN Chakra: 100% Words: 440 Notes: Butcher played by Vincent Nightray of Pandora Hearts sing his song to the tune of london bridge

Not particularly because of the mission, but because of his comrades in arms. Kitae was an almost ideal solider, but she did have a tendency to be hard headed and rush into danger despite the better judgement of others. Meanwhile, her fiance was the exact opposite. Tenzo was fairly skittish and, strangely for an Uchiha, held combat with great disdain; preferring investigative work and filing paperwork to actually preforming out in the field. That was what made Tenzo and Kitae such a great team- Tenzo provided the brains while Kitae supplied the brawn. Since Kitae's specialty was Taijutsu and Tenzo's was Ninjutsu, specifically Katon, Satori planned on taking a more supporting role for this mission. That is, providing fire support where it was needed, but mostly providing advice by staying back and analyzing the situation. As Kitae had noted, they didn't know much about this 'Butcher'. So it was up to Sato to provide the intel, and look out for any traps. "Captain... if it comes down to capturing the criminal or saving the hostages, we should try and help the victims, right?" Kitae scoffed loudly in response, "Why are you wasting his time with a question like that? We obviously have to stop the son of a bitch! If we have to sacrifice a couple of villagers to take him down, then so be it. If he escapes, that's another twenty... forty victims on our hands before we catch up to him again!" Tenzo gave his fiance a concerned look, "But we can't just let innocent people die for the sake of potentially saving others. That would make us no better than the criminals we're trying to stop." Sato sighed deeply as the two bickered over the ethics of their job, eventually weighing in when he realized they wouldn't come to an agreement. "You're both full-fledged members of the Keimu Butai. You have the freedom to act with discretion. It doesn't matter how you decide to handle the situation, so long as you don't half-ass it and accomplish your goal." Even as he said it, he knew it was going to be a problem. After all, despite that being the truth, both were only sixteen... it had been an arranged marriage, so such conflicts weren't especially surprising. Still... Satori didn't have much time to dwell on the issue as he realized they were rapidly approaching the target, hearing the notes of that demented singing from halfway down the tunnel. The man clicked his tongue and gestured forward with his head. The ninja on either side of him nodded in understanding and both vanished in a cloud of smoke. While Satori was still making his way through the tunnel, both Tenzo and Kitae appeared at the entrance to the room the Butcher was in, Kitae taking the famed stance of a Gouken practitioner while Tenzo dipped his hands in the pouches on either side of his belt, grabbing handfuls of ninja tools in preparation- although neither had taken the time to scan the room yet. "T-This is the Keimu Butai... surrender or we're going to take you out!" ---- With the sound of little mini explosions and clouds of smoke, they appeared as if out of thin air. Immediately they initiated combat stances, ready to take him out should the opportunity present itself, and ordered him to surrender. Surrender? Why would he do that? He had already determined his life was of no value. He was but another test subject in a grand master plan. He was a test subject, the corpse in the corner was a test subject, the shinobi at the entrance were test subjects, hell, even that rat nibbling on the eye ball by their feet was a test subject.
When they barked out their orders he stopped sharpening his lovely little kunai as he held it up to the light. "Keimu Buntai will wither away~" He turned the kunai in his hand flashing the light that glinted off of its steel back towards the officers and even perhaps in their eyes, "Wither away~" A twisted yet serene grin spread across his face as he lowered his hand allowing it to drop to his side. As he did this, he gently slit his thumb along the blade of the kunai ever so slyly. Soon blood trickled down along the blade and dripped down onto some sort of runic marking on the floor, "Wither away~" He ground his foot into the marking as he turned slightly to view the officers with his golden orb, "My cruel Reaper~" Another rune, previously hidden by the shadows, lit up between the officers' feet as a brilliant crimson, before suddenly, non-violently exploding into a large field of crimson smoke.
At times like that it was definitely a fortune that he was related by blood the the Desert Death God. It made things so much easier for him to accomplish, such as using techniques that the elder man had bestowed upon him, perhaps even better than he himself would ever be able to accomplish. "Kill them now with bloodied spikes~" He spun around his little make shift desk as the crimson smoke began to fill the entire room to the near by wall where he pressed his back up against it and held his injured thumb to another, similar rune, to the one previously on the floor. "Bloodied Spikes~" If they knew anything about the Reaper, they would likely know what was coming next, but then again, perhaps they wouldn't considering even a man as notorious as him never revealed all of his secrets.
He had met Sabaku no Shinigami about five years ago now. They had been well aware of each other's presence as Ren in this world for quite some time, but had never met until that fateful day where they both happened upon the sanctuary on the Kusa/Taki border. They saw eye to eye with one another almost immediately, and soon, began to share secrets that no one else ever knew of. For him, he shared his research results and ideas. He shared his Fuin specialties. For the Reaper he reciprocated by using his little technique utilizing blood to create new techniques. Thus the trap seals were born.
They had only been together maybe two weeks, but that time was time enough to produce something great in both of the shinobi. Something they would never share with this world. While the trap seals had not been perfected in that time, he had taken it upon himself to better perfect his own seals in his own way, and through letters back and forth to Suna without others' knowledge, he was also able to produce those akin to the Reaper's which he used today.
"Bloodied Spikes~!" He activated the second runic seal which would cause ten crimson spikes to spew out of the ceiling approximately five feet in front of the lantern between it and the door where the officers were last seen. They likely would not see the crimson things spewing out of the ceiling at every which angle between 45 degrees and 90 (in reference to being perpendicular to the ceiling). "My Cruel Reaper~" Unfortunately for himself, the smoke from earlier provided the officers with just as much cover as it did himself, and since they were likely to be much more quiet in their actions than he had been, they would likely be able to surmount some sort of surprise attack. If they were smart enough to do so that is. But unlikely her inattentive fiance, Kitae kept her eyes firmly locked on the Butcher, "Watch it, he's plotting somethi-Ngh?!" She was cut off as the ground underneath the pair exploded into an irritating smoke. Kitae grunted as she covered her eyes while the trap's effect on Tenzo was reduced by the fact that already had them covered. But the smoke did nothing to damper sound, so both officers heard the Butcher call out his attack, "Dammit, can't see... fall back!" Both Tenzo and herself leaped back a few feet into the hallway outside of the room, narrowly avoiding the spikes... although one clipped Tenzo's raised arm, splattering a small amount of blood on the front of his uniform while a few thin streams ran down his forearm. Kitae noticed the injury and growled softly, "Idiot! You should have moved faster! By this time, Satori had finally caught up to the pair and stopped just behind them, "What happened? What's the situation like?" Tenzo opened his mouth to speak, but Kitae shoved past him to address the Captain, "He's definitely here, and he uses his blood as a catalyst for his jutsu." That was useful, at least. "And the status of any hostages...?" Tenzo and Kitae exchanged glances before both looked towards the floor. "We, ah... weren't paying attention..." Sato clicked his tongue in annoyance and pushed past both officers, with both of them turning to follow him back into the entrance of the smoke-filled room, "Never lose sight of the mission!" Satori closed his eyes for a moment, channeling chakra before snapping them open again, eyes flaring crimson. He'd quickly use the Sharingan to pick out the target through the smoke and flick his wrist, causing two shuriken to slide between his fingers before flinging them into the room, intending to strike the Butcher with them. As their own chatter began to filter across the crimson fog, they would likely not notice as the Butcher's own signing faded into nothingness. He could hear them all perfectly. He could hear one of them try to confirm the 'safety' of his 'guests' however that feat would be futile. The Butcher had already made them all into such beautiful decorations. Only those decorations could not be admired, not right now anyway.
"It seems that they know nothing. A pity," he spoke low to himself as the Keimu Buntai continued to chatter with one another, however soon something caught his eye through the thinning mist. A glint, like light streaking off of metal. Then there was a distinct sensation as two metal objects pierced his skin. Shock waves of pain ripped through his body like a nasty cold and sent the man lurching silently forward. "......" He soon fell deathly silent as he steadied himself with one hand on the wall next to him and the other searching his side for the two blasted objects that had found their way into him. Soon enough as his fingers continued to dance across the contours of his body, he began to silently make his way across the way to where the hidden exit would be. When at long last he found, and removed the two shuriken, he reacted quickly by throwing the two across the room to hopefully create a diversion before retreating beyond the false wall panel hidden behind the stacked crates in the corner of the room.
"Nngh, my eyes are starting to water. It seems I stayed in there for too long, oh well," he spoke deathly quiet to himself as he walked with a slight limp to his step due to awkward stepping sending pangs of pain through his body. Licking his lips now as chakra began to dance at his finger tips to mend the wounds done by the uchiha the butcher chuckled to himself. "Keimu Buntai will all be crushed~" He sang quietly and low key, as slowly he approached another rune written upon the floor approximately thirty feet in front of him.
If the Uchiha officers still managed to pursue the Butcher they would likely find that not only would their eyes likely begin to be heavily irritated by the smoke the still filled that first room, that when they would enter the corridor that the Butcher had retreated down that it would be nearly pitch black. There would be no source of light beyond the light that filtered into the corridor from the large room before it. It would also appear that the corridor would only be big enough for the officers to proceed single file. It definitely seemed to injure him, but not enough it seemed. The Butcher started moving back, causing him to fade out of Satori's line of sight- the smoke was unnatural, hazed with chakra. He could see through it somewhat, but not well enough to determine what the enemy had just done. "This smoke, is it poisonous?" Kitae and Tenzo exchanged a glance, but it was Tenzo who spoke, "We... I don't think so. Both of us breathed it in, but I don't feel anything." Kitae nodded in agreement, "I think we're fine. It did really hurt my eyes, though. Couldn't see in it at all." Satori could clearly see that her eyes were reddened and irritated. This smoke would be useful against the Sharingan for sure, so it was probably good that he decided to send this two ahead without him. "You two hold here. Pursue once the smoke clears, I'm going after the target." Sato preformed a small series of handseals, hands moving quickly enough that they were a mere blur of movement, "Iwagakure no Jutsu!" With that technique active, he placed his hand on the wall beside him, letting it slowly meld with his flesh. Within a second, his body was completely embedded in the stone wall. He dipped underneath the room entirely so that he could get a better look at things, only to see the Butcher's chakra signature quickly fleeing in the opposite direction. Satori 'lunged' forward, flowing through the ground until he came to where he'd just seen the man, letting himself fall out of the wall and into the hidden corridor some distance behind the enemy. He started to pursue through the darkness, the Sharingan's red hue giving him some small boost to his night vision. It wasn't true night vision in that he couldn't see in the dark as though it were day, but the Sharingan's ability to pick up even minute details allowed him to pick out shadows and outlines in the darkness and identify them at a moment's notice. Not that there was anything to identify in this cramped corridor. He continued down the path until he saw the trap that the Butcher had laid for him, the slight glow of the chakra contained in the seal giving it away. Satori clicked his tongue softly and preformed another series of handseals, creating a simple clone in front of him. The only real indication that the clone wasn't the genuinely article was that the clone's eyes were solid black while the real Satori's bore the Sharingan's dark crimson. The clone dashed forward in his place, running over the seal without a care in the world in hopes that it would trigger the trap so that Satori needn't do it himself.
