Sinister Laughing. Crimson Rain. Falling Corpses. A Diabolic Waltz. All of it seemed to be too real. He was dancing with death's daughter upon a bed of corpses in a river of their crimson tears. A soft smile was plastered on his face that slowly grew to be more and more diabolic with every twist and turn of their little waltz. Spin left, laugh cheerfully. Spin right, cackle manically. More and more corpses fell unto the pile at their feet and slowly began to masquerade their little waltz, however they did not stop. They continued to move as the bodies piled up around their feet as though they were nothing but fluid water. Never once did they stop dancing. Never once did a corpse not splatter upon the pile when it came thudding down.
With a start Anrui woke from his dream. His crimson orbs shot wide and immediately looked around the dark, dank, room wildly as if expecting some sort of assassin to be lurking in the shadow's shadow. But there was nothing. He was alone. All alone in the deep dark untouched underground of what little remained of Ame. Realizing he was safe and sound, Anrui let a sigh escape from his lips. "It was just a dream. A horrid dream." He reached up with a single gloved hand and placed his fingers to his forehead as he closed his eyes and leaned back in his make shift throne of rubble. "A damn dream that makes me thirst." He muttered to himself as his fingers trailed down his cheek towards his own throat. How long had it been since he last drank? Since he last feast?
Far too long, but he would prefer it that way. That was why he came here to a place where he was certain he would be all alone. He did not want to feast. It disgusted him. Yet it appeased him. It was delicious. Juicy. A delicacy that he would refuse himself. Instead he reached down to a wooden bowl he had scavenged from the rubble of what was once a home near by and lifted it carefully before bringing it to his lips and draining the water it had once contained. When the last drop hit his tongue he sighed mournfully, "And now that's all gone. Shame." He lowered the bowl to the ground letting it quietly clattered in place before pulling himself up off of his rocky throne. "Ah well, time to find some food. Perhaps a wild boar will be near by," he stretched his arms high above his head before beginning to walk down the long beaten corridor towards the only known exit to the world above. As he did, the sound of water leaking through the 'roof' what eminent all around him with little pitter patters. Made by Tosuke of BTN Chakra: 100% Words: 469 Notes: 469/2500

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true] Hold your hands into the sky Pray for mercy, instead of time Low budget movies, change our low budget lives There's something to corsets and horror that joins our lonesome minds And these bloody faces with their bloody knives Say if we ever make it We'll be so bloody tired of these times Hold your hands into the sky You are the massacre, the masochist, the tease And you're captivating , standing in front of me The life of a rogue was a lonely existence indeed, full of solitude, where one's own mind was often their only company. And what a dreadful existence it was - flee or fight, win or die, kill or be killed - it was the kind of existence that one had to be strong to endure. Often rogues met their ends quickly, unable to survive in such a manner.
So how was it, then, that one so lonely, so afraid of her own mind, so unwilling to lift a hand to harm a living being, had survived nine winters of this lonely existence? At times she imagined it was nothing more than a cruel trick played by fate, to see just how much a person could go through before they broke, shattered into millions of little pieces that could not be put back together. To be fate's pawn - that was an even lower existence, and one even more dreadful than that of a rogue.
As a rogue you had the freedom to do as you pleased, when you pleased, where you pleased, and so on; you could spend your life traveling, exploring every country on the map, or you could seclude yourself to live and study in isolation, or anything in between. As a pawn of fate you had no such freedom. Perhaps it might seem like you chose your own destiny, but all the same, it was fate leading you, even if you didn't realize it.
The thought of defying whatever fate had planned and cutting herself loose from the ties of the mortal world, descending into whatever hell laid in wait for those who murdered, even if they did not enjoy it, and those who were too cowardly to face their fates and so instead ended everything.
Her wanderings had brought her to the ruins of what was once her home - a country she had not even dared to approach since the day she had been taken from it - the village of Amegakure no Sato. Or, rather, what had been Amegakure over twenty years ago. The wreckage was hardly identifiable as the place she had once called home, even though she could not remember it too clearly - and it brought tears to her eyes.
At least it was nearly always raining in Amegakure, and so her tears were almost indistinguishable from the water droplets falling from the sky and pelting the soggy ground. It was rather chilly out, and the rain wasn't helping anything - nor was the fact that over her usual scanty clothing she wore nothing more than a simple hooded cloak that had already begun to get soaked through - and thus she decided to duck into the most stable-looking of the ruined houses and and least get out of the brunt of the rain.
She curled up in a corner of the room where the ceiling was mostly intact, hood still pulled over her head just in case, and prepared for a long wait; the light rain was quickly turning into a storm. Clack. Clack. Clack.
His sandals clacked rather loudly against the disheveled stone surface that made up the floor. Every now and then there would be the distinct sound of shuffling of some sort as though something rough was sliding down a rougher surface as he come upon areas where the ground was a little less stable and had caved in on itself. These were minor detours that only served to lengthen the time it took him to walk down the corridor to the exit, and by no means, were they of any significance. Only a baby would be truly detoured from life by those pesky little attempts to be annoying.
It took him perhaps ten minutes to reached the incline up towards the surface where he would have to use the walking on trees technique to climb upwards without slipping endlessly back down to the 'ground level'. At the top of the incline Anrui found a small room with many things like old dressers and bookshelves. There was one specific bookshelf in the room that rested on its side. Anrui climbed on top of it before reaching up towards a stone panel in the ceiling. Since he was closer to the ceiling now he was able to press both of his hands and his own shoulder flat against it to lift the hefty block of stone rubble, which was likely at one point a part of a wall. It took him a few minutes, but eventually and pain painstakingly slow, he managed to screech the stone block across the surface above to the side enough to be able to squeeze his thin frame through.
With it out of the way Anrui reached up through the gap before pulling himself up onto the surface. One thing that was always horridly bad about where this entrance was placed is that it was in the middle of what was once a great room of a house. Very little remained of the house for it to actually be distinguishable as once having been such. However just enough, like a large chunk of the roof, remained to tell its tale. Only this chunk of roof did not cover the entrance to Anrui's bunker, so the nukenin was left standing, or rather crouched at this point, in the rain.
"Hm, it seems that its going to storm soon. Not my lucky day." He flicked his middle finger slightly out of a bit of a nervous habit. This little action caused a small bit of wire to sneak out of the space between the metal plates on his fingers before withdrawing once more to its shelter. Anrui shook his head as he looked around the area as if searching for something specific. "So the question is, would it be wiser to find a boar or go looking for fish in that pond." He thought aloud out of habit of doing so to fill the silence that usually wrapped around him. As he spoke he folded his arms across his chest as another realization hit him, "How will I cook the meat? It rains really bad here. Certainly a fire wouldn't be possible with drenched kindle. Although I could go to the, no no no, I'm not traveling to the desert, then there would be no kindle to light, sooo.... Hi no Kuni? Agh but that's just not reasonable of a wa-" He paused as he felt a strange sensation as though he was being watched. Looking around rapidly as he raised his guard he looked for the source of prying eyes only to find a figure huddled in the corner under the relative safety of the disheveled roof.
"What the bloody hell are you doing in my territory?"

In reality it was probably no longer than twenty or thirty minutes, no matter how long it felt. At one point she nearly dozed off, and was startled awake by a sound from within the ruined house... at least, she thought there had been some sort of noise, as if a very large stone was being shoved aside, but who else was here in the ruins to make such a noise?
She didn't like the thought of another person being here, but she supposed that it was possible. Some else might have had the desire to visit the ruins of the village, for one reason or another. It wasn't too unlikely, considering her own reasons for being here.
Then he emerged from the darkness and she nearly screamed - Tera was quite easily startled - but she somehow managed to keep quiet and still as he spoke, presumably to himself. But of course, she didn't manage to remain out of his notice for very long. At least he didn't attack her on sight like some would.
Hesitantly, she stood up, eying him nervously. "I-I'm sorry, I didn't know I was intruding... I was just passing through and thought I'd come visit the village that was once my home. I-I'll go ahead and take my leave if you don't want me here." Though Tera had hoped to be able to stick around and relive the few memories she had of the village, she would rather leave now instead of provoking this man's wrath. Perhaps it was simply not to be.
Dipping her head to him, she wasted no time in heading out of the dilapidated building and back in the direction she had come. There was no way she was going to tempt fate by sticking around. His crimson orbs glanced her over under that sopping wet cloak of her's and he could help but feel like he had to do something. Only he couldn't tell what to do. He didn't know whether he should force her to leave so she doesn't risk becoming a meal of his own devise, or to shelter her until this horrid storm let up a bit.
Eat her. His inner demon's beckoned, but No his own conscious said.
Devour her. His inner demon's commanded, again his conscious refused.
He reached his arms up across his chest forming a sort of X shaped pattern before he gripped the opposite upper arms, tightly. It was clear he didn't know what to do. It was clear that he might go insane any moment. His crimson eyes were wide as if with fear and his lip quivered. His back was hunched forward slightly and his body seemed to cave in on it a bit as if to protect itself. "Y-you, are not here to take my freedom..." He stammered at first his eyes looking around wildly as if looking for any possible companions that might try to steal his life away. "Y-you're alone y-yes?" Thoughts were already beginning to become hard to come by. They were mixed up. Going back and forth between devouring her flesh and shooing her away. He didn't want to eat her, but ever muscle in his body screamed for the luscious juices of her blood.
"G-... G-go..." He stammered for a moment before hunching forward almost similar to a bow and screaming out loud to the world, "GO AWAY!" His scream was loud, long, and almost panicked. However, if she could sense anything about him she would likely be able to tell he wasn't talking to her. Then, almost as soon as his scream's echoes faded away there was nothing. No thoughts, no bated breath, just the rain that pitter pattered against the disheveled city around them. Everything grew increasingly quiet for Anrui. He remained hunched over enough so that his face laid in shadow, however his eyes were still wide as though with a painful fear. However other than that all expression in his face was gone.
For a very long time the male remained like this. Hugging his arms close to his chest with his widened eyes staring aimlessly at the ground. Then, a small laugh escaped from his lips. It was so minute that it was almost non-existent, but it was there all the same. A smile stretched across his face, a wicked one at that, and he raised his head to look at the stranger. "You should leave too," his voice was cold, almost child-like, yet filled with warning, "Unless you want to be eaten by the death wire." With that, he turned away and began walking out into the rain. The expression remained on his face and he continued to hug his arms against his chest. Clearly something was wrong with him. Made by Tosuke of BTN Chakra: 99% Words: 497 Notes: 1587 words

To be quite honest, Tera wasn't sure what she should do; whether to vacate the premises and leave him to his madness, or try to help him, though he likely wouldn't accept her help even if there was something she could do.
"No, no - you have nothing to fear from me, I can assure you." she murmured gently, shaking her head. "I am no threat to you or your continued existence. I merely sought shelter here; I didn't even know you were here, or I would have found another location." At the same time, she held no fear of him; if he so chose, he could do great harm to her, but he would have no lasting effect on one whose abilities allowed them to regenerate cells and heal even fatal wounds with the most basic of medical techniques. "I am indeed alone. You have nothing to fear." she repeated, in the hopes of soothing him at least a little.
She didn't flinch when he screamed, able to tell that he was speaking to something inside of himself and not her. This poor, poor man; he too warred with something within himself that he did not want to be defined by, he struggled against the deplorable state of his soul. In that regard, he was much like her, although her mind had not sunk to the depths that his had. Her heart went out to him, although there was a limit to how much she could heal.
Tera did not approach him; she did not want to startle him into fleeing or attacking while he was in this state. Neither of them would fare well. And so she waited, waited until she faintly heard his laughter over the din of the rain, and until he straightened up and regained the ability to speak to her. "You and I are alike, dark one." she spoke, before he had the chance. "I... would like to help you, if I am able."
She took no heed of his warning and, instead of leaving, followed him out into the rain and stood next to him. "I do not believe you present any danger to me that I cannot repair, dark one. Think on my offer; I do not like to see those like me suffer if I can prevent it." WORDS: three hundred ninety-eight TAGS: anrui NOTES: 1240/2500 LYRICS: the tease by evans blueCREDIT: akemi of btn |
