He was proficient in shurikenjutsu, chakra control, ninjutsu, genjutsu, and other various skills. But one particular aspect had fallen by the wayside. That is, despite his skills in the spiritual side of things, Satori had allowed his physical prowess to fall by the wayside, causing his abilities to atrophy. He had used the Sharingan alone as a crutch to cover up his failings in this area for far too long, but the fight against Inari had proven that for all of his jutsu and innate talents, he needed a strong body to be able to utilize his gifts to their fullest. After coming to this realization, Satori decided to take a trip into Konoha's Forest of Death. The creatures that inhabited the forest were meant to merely dissuade and weaken Chuunin candidates, it made the area a good place for Satori to build himself up. Armed with nothing but his wits, the Uchiha headed into the forest alone... At first, Sato couldn't seem to find any of the famed creatures of the forest. He searched for a good half hour, but the forest seemed to be empty... he flicked on the Sharingan to scan for chakra signatures and suddenly noticed a huge mass located in the tree directly above him. He leap out of the way just as a pack of leeches dropped from the sky, piling onto the ground where he'd just been standing. The leeches writhed around in what Sato assumed was annoyance and began to screech. Sato wondered what they were doing when he heard the leaves of the bush behind him rustle. A quick glance over his shoulder revealed a creature ready to pounce; he studied it's movements with the Sharingan, waiting until it began to lunge forward to channel chakra to his feet, allowing him to leap a good ten feet into the air to avoid the giant tiger's charge. A slight smirk crossed Satori's features as he avoided the beast... only to feel sharp talons dig into his shoulders, finding himself being carried off by a gigantic bird of some kind. "...Heh. Things are really popping off now, aren't they?" The Uchiha grabbed the bird's ankles, pushing up with his lower body to move up and kick it in the stomach. It reared back and let out a deafening squawk, loosening it's grip enough for Sato to free himself. The bird hadn't gotten very far, letting him comfortably land on a treebranch a few meters below. After making sure that there were no immediate threats in the area, he dropped to the ground and continued on his walk. His intention was to go straight across the forest from one gate to the other, but that little adventure with the bird caused him to lose his bearings. Speaking of bearings, a BEAR SUDDENLY ATTACKED! Sato noticed it's movements out of the corner of his eye and immediately rolled to the side to evade it's charge. The bear slammed it's head into the tree behind the Uchiha and waivered for a moment, but quickly shook off it's confusion and whipped around, roaring loud enough to shred a few leaves off the nearby branches. The bear charged for a second time, but this time Sato used the Sharingan to predict it's movements, leaping into the air before driving the heel of his foot into the bear's forehead, using it as a platform to preform a second leap from. This time he coated his feet in chakra, letting him jump back into the trees. The bear roared in frustration and tried to climb the tree, but couldn't find a foothold. Annoyed, it reared back and then slammed it's paws into the trunk, shaking the tree to it's core. "Think I've overstayed my welcome..." The bear pulled back to hit the tree again, but Sato had already leaped to the next, fleeing the scene before the beast could follow. After traveling for about a minute, he tried to look over his shoulder to see if anything was following him... just for something large and solid to slam into his chest, pulling him down from the trees. Sato hunched over just before hitting the ground, letting him roll up to his feet and get a good look at his attacker. It was an ape of some kind, but he didn't have time to register any specifics when it suddenly snapped an arm forward in a strong punch. The Uchiha ducked his head to evade it, but the monkey was already whipping a right hook towards his head, which was dodged with a quick backwards lean. "A boxing ape? Ha... it's been a while, Haruka. Grow out your beard since we last met, did you?" The monkey lunged forward with a quick one-two, but Sato managed to evade both with help from the Sharingan. Haruka Sarutobi had been a girl that tormented him in his academy days. He wondered what happened to her... her name wasn't on the monument, so he knew that she was still around at least. One of these days, he really had to go look for her and pay back the favor... Satori was pulled out of his thoughts by another quick jab from the monkey, forcing him to duck again. But this time, he stepped in while ducking, using the Sharingan to imitate the ape's movements. He slammed a right hook into the beast's kidney, following it up by two quick jabs to the chest to stagger it a bit before backpedaling a few feet to get out of it's range. The monkey was bigger and stronger than he was, but the Uchiha was faster... and had the Sharingan to tip the tables in his favor. A low growl escaped the monkey as it dropped to all fours and started to dash forward... only for a massive mouth to drop from above and land on top of the monkey, swallowing it whole. The dark mass slowly rose up above Sato, glaring down at him with cold eyes... it was a gigantic snake of some kind. Sato raised an eyebrow and chuckled, everything in this forest was oversized beyond belief. The snake's head snapped forward in an attempt to make a meal out of the Uchiha, but he drew an arm back and punched down, forcing the snake's mouth to close on itself, causing one of it's fangs to pierce it's own tongue. The monster reared back and cried out in pain, but by the time it turned it's attention back to the ground, looking for vengeance, Satori had already vanished... As the ninja ran through the forest, he felt his muscles begin to ache. Good. The entire point of this excursion was exercise, after all. He was already thinking of what he was going to grab for lunch when this was all over when he heard a distinctive whistle off to the side. Sato clicked his tongue in annoyance and stopped suddenly, leaning back just as a sharp projectile flew past the bridge of his nose, just barely scraping his flesh and causing blood to run down his cheeks from the newly formed gash on his nose. More whistles filled the air as Sato dashed behind a nearby tree, the loud thunks of the projectiles slamming against the other side of the trunk. He used the Sharingan to peer through the tree to see the form of his attacker and recognized it as a porcupine of sorts, although this one could apparently fire it's spikes as a weapon. But it was making a lot of noise... if he didn't get out of here quickly, the area would probably be flooded with beasts. Sato crouched into a sprinter's stance before dashing out of cover. He weaved a bit to avoid some of the spines, but there were a few that were dead on. For those, he had to utilize the Sharingan's increased perception to help snatch them out of the air with his bare hands, preventing them from ending up embedded in his chest. Eventually Sato reached a copse of trees, bringing him out of the porcupine's line of sight and giving him an opportunity to escape. With that situation dealt with, the Uchiha touched a finger to the wound and winced, pulling his hand away to see the blood on the tips of his finger. "I think that's my cue to get out of here." There were forty-four gates in the fence surrounding the forest, so if he were to just travel in one direction long enough, he could probably escape. And so, that's what he did. With his training over, Sato simply scouted ahead with the Sharingan; avoiding the various flora and fauna that the forest was so well known for. He managed to reach gate thirty-seven within twenty minutes without much trouble, finally turning off the Sharingan as he headed back towards Konoha for a well deserved meal...
