Each member wears a golden necklace that has a charm attached to the middle. The charm is fashioned into the shape of the symbol for 'Thunder'.

Purpose:

They are the Raikage's elite team and are tasked with missions that require the utmost of power, espionage, and subversion. They are also the personal body guards on the Kage both in and outside of the village. As their duties have the possibility of affecting so many areas their exploits are never spoken about outside of the Kage's office. Hand picked by both the Kage and village elders, these are the best of the best that Kumogakure has to offer in every aspect of a shinobi. Members can be a jack of all trades, or specialists in the shinobi arts.

Historical Background:

In the early years of village formation when death for political gain was a very real practice their came a time when prolonged leadership was needed. Having a new regime institute a brand new set of policies wreaked havoc in terms of solidarity for Kumogakure. It was then decided that a dedicated set of body guards would be assigned to the Raikage to protect him from threats both inside and outside the village. They came to be known as the Ikazuchi Satsu, or Thunder Splitters, and were compromised of the best shinobi from the village and tasked with giving their life in protection of their leader.

Over time their role shifted from solely protecting the Kage to performing extreme tasks and missions. Whether it be gathering information on a rival village or taking out high risk targets the group soon became an elite force to be reckoned with. However, the political ramifications of their actions would surely cause another war if they were ever leaked and as such were ordered to only speak of their tasks in the privacy of the Kage's office.
