This time it wasn't his fault! Haruka had acted very strangely the last time they met, and he intended to get to the bottom of it. After all, he was the Military Forces Captain. What good could he possibly be doing for the village if he couldn't even solve one little mystery? It would basically be a travesty and he would have to turn in his badge for sure. So it was with no small degree of anxiousness that he rapped the back of his knuckles on the woman's door. It opened after only a moment, revealing... Haruka, holding an ice pack against her left cheek, which looked swollen and bruised from what Sato could see of it. The sight immediately made him concerned. "What happened?" Haruka's gaze shifted to the side and she only offered a little shrug, I tripped! I mean, I was on a mission... I tripped on a mission." Sato's eyes narrowed at the obvious lie. He knew she hadn't been on any missions lately- he checked the registry. That's why he came now, because he knew that she wasn't and hadn't been busy lately. Still, he didn't press the issue. Calling her on the lie now would probably just cause her to close off, which would leave him with nothing. He'd probably have to get her drunk again to get any decent information out of her, but he didn't want to have to resort to such... crude means of 'interrogation'. The very opposite, he wanted to take her out to lunch. Had she been anyone else, he probably would have brought a few flowers from the Yamanaka's store for the occasion, but he remembered that Haruka expressed disinterest in flowers when they were children. It's possible things had changed, women were strange like that, but he decided that it was better to play it safe for their first date. Technically second, but Sato didn't quite count Haruka getting drunk off her ass and passing out on the table as a proper night out. "Well, in any event, are you ready to go?" She stared at him blankly for a moment before her head slowly listed to the side. He could practically see the question mark floating above her head. "The last time we went out, you promised to let me take you somewhere nicer for lunch the next time. Pinky swore on it, even." It was actually a lie. But he figured that she wouldn't have remembered enough of that night to argue with him. Something else that he recalled from their childhood- her predisposition towards pinky swears. As a little girl, Haruka was mostly a lying little runt, but if she said something on a pinky swear, you could be sure that it was a done deal. He figured that was something that would have carried over into adulthood, and judging by her current expression, he was spot on, "Oh, did I really...?" Sato nodded slowly and moved to the side so that she could step out of the doorway if she wished, but she chose not to. "I don't know if that's such a good idea, Uchiha." His ear twitched when she called him by his surname. That was odd. Very odd. Something was definitely up, but he still had no proof... "You /did/ pinky swear on it, you know." It was a little cruel of him to nag her like this; over something that she hadn't even done. But he wasn't leaving here without a 'Yes' either. Haruka hesitated for a long while, biting her lip as though she were anxious about something... only to nod in agreement, "Yes, I... okay. Just give me a second." Sato waited patiently outside the home, thinking that Haruka was getting dressed up for their date... and he was half-right. She did change her clothes, but not into something... nicer. It was a simple shirt and pants, very unflattering and plain- completely unlike what he'd seen her in originally, and even just moments before. But now the bruising on her cheek was covered with medical gauze- wouldn't help, but it did cover it up well enough. Still, she'd finally submitted to his charms, so that was a plus. To be honest, he hadn't expected this to go so well, so he didn't really have any place in particular in mind. He considered asking her, but that wouldn't be appropriate. He did force her out of the house, so he should be the one who dealt with all of the arrangements as well. Sadly, despite his usual attitude, Sato wasn't much of a playboy. He had little idea of how romance was supposed to work, but he could figure out what was and wasn't appropriate for a date. Probably. Unfortunately, he didn't bring much money with him since he didn't expect Haruka to agree, which ruled out a nice restaurant or some other such place. But as it turned out, it wouldn't matter much anyway. They hadn't gotten very far when Haruka stopped in the middle of the street, holding her hands up near her neck and looking off to the side. "Is something the matter, Haruka?" Sato's head tilted to the side in confusion, but she quickly shook her head, "I'm sorry... I don't know what I promised you, but this... I just can't do it. I have to go home, now." Satori shrugged and let out a long sigh before walking up beside her, "I see. Well, there's nothing else to it then, is there? I'll escort you home." Haruka hesitated for a moment before turning away from the man, "No, that's... it's better if I go myself." Annoyed, Satori wrapped his arm around her shoulders and started dragging her in the direction of her home, "Nonsense. I dragged you out, so I'm going to be the one who drags you back, too." Haruka was uncharacteristically silent for the short trip. When they finally reached her doorstep, she uttered a mumbled apology and reached for the doorknob... only for the door to swing open, revealing a man standing in the open doorway. He was large- easily four inches taller than Satori and twice as wide. A thick scar ran down his right eye, although the eye itself was undamaged, and he bore a short scruff of a beard. The man had an angered expression that only deepened once his eyes passed from the crestfallen Haruka to the confused Satori. He roughly grabbed the woman's wrist and yanked her into the house, which prompted Satori to move forward to protest, only to be cut off by the man, "Who the hell're you?!" Satori opened his mouth to speak, but this time it was Haruka who spoke, "Leaving. He's leaving. Satori, I... I'm sorry, but... I'm... married." Satori's eyes widened in surprise, but the man only muttered some curse under his breath and slammed the door in the Uchiha's face. Satori simply stood there in silence for a long time, staring at the wooden door. Eventually, his head fell forward, looking down at his feet. "Married...?"
