Physical Description:

An exquisitely crafted nodachi with an imposing 48" long blade and an 18" hilt. The blade itself appears to be constructed from some manner of pale blue metal with luminescent qualities, while the hilt is wrapped in dull violet fabric and possesses two distinct guards; the primary guard, consisting of two interlaced ovals reminiscent of the symbol for infinity, crafted from brass-tinted steel and emblazoned at their outermost edges with spread-winged swallows, and a secondary guard at the base of the hilt that takes the form of a large swallow crafted of the same material, the tails of which curve down to form a frontal guard for the lower half of the hilt which is designed to defend the wielder's offhand. The sheathe of the sword has a pattern reminiscent of dark gray or black feathers which then tapers off into a more floral pattern accented with patches of silver before reaching the base of the sheathe where it transitions into a fully silver end cap with a ruffled feather motif.

The most prized heirloom of the Tsubame family, Tassei Fukanō is an ancient sword that has been ceremoniously passed down for hundreds of years to whomever is able to prove themselves as the most skillful swordsman in the entire clan. By this system, the head of the Tsubame family came not to be decided by heritage, but by possession of the blade, and receiving it became the greatest honor one could wish for. Over the years, many people even came to view the sword as having mystical powers, such that the superstition eventually emerged that whoever comes to possess Tassei Fukanō will one day obtain everything their heart desires.

Legends say that the sword was crafted in ancient times from a pale blue metal refined from an incomprehensibly rare ore, the nature of which is definitively unlike anything found in the modern era. As a result, the blade possesses several unique properties:

First, and least notably of all, the metal used to craft the blade has luminescent properties which cause it to give off a dim blue glow in the absence of light. Second, whenever the blade is either swung or impacted it will scatter what appears to be several dozen ephemeral blue rose petals which will subsequently disappear a few seconds later. It should be noted that both of these properties are purely aesthetic and have no known combat or supplementary applications.

Third and finally, if the blade is ever broken or damaged it can be 'planted' into the ground where it will then proceed to absorb a vast supply of naturally occurring elements from the earth and repair itself over time by replicating its base material with the same capacity as a mineral. Taking this into account, it would not be unwise to say that the molecular composition of the blade is probably closer to that of a hyper-dense crystal than a metal, which would likely explain why it is both excessively sharp and excessively fragile when compared to iron and steel.
