Mental &Physical EVERYONE IS A VICTIM TO THAT ATTRACTION, YEAH! ► AppearanceHideki isn't a particularly unique looking individual. He stands at an average 5'10" with a moderately toned body, weighing in at 158lbs. His posture is impeccable, standing perfectly straight most of the time, even when relaxed. His hair is usually tied in a ponytail, allowing it to rest on his right shoulder most of the time, although he doesn't have any kind of unnatural control over his hair to prevent it from going where it pleases. The end of the ponytail hangs about a foot below his shoulders, It's a deep purple hue, an unusual but somehow natural color. His bangs tend to droop down due to their length, sometimes covering one or both of his eyes in that state, although generally he will quickly run his hand through his hair to 'fix' it if it's blocking his peripheral vision during a time when it's desperately needed. His sharp, yet relaxed eyes are a deep ocean blue; edged with a lifetime of experiences and tinged with a hint of regret. Hideki keeps a large white scarf wrapped around his shoulders, which serves to hide the lower half of his face. As with many high ranking samurai, the scarf is meant to conceal a small communicator that can be used to contact allied forces from a distance. Although Hideki has no allies to sync the communicator with, he wears the scarf regardless, both out of habit and to hide his true identity somewhat. A few light scars pepper his face which can't be seen from a distance, including a cross-shaped scar on his left cheek, which darkens considerably when Hideki is angered. Hideki's skin is fairly pale and delicate looking from the amount of time he spent in the concealing samurai armor, but as he no longer owns a set of Samurai armor, he instead chooses to wear black robes, leaving them loose for additional mobility. His choice of shoes are similar to a ninja's tabi, although they are fashioned for a civilian. He also dons fingerless gloves, allowing him to keep a stronger grip on his blade. At his side rests a sheath tucked into his belt that holds his sword. Unlike other Samurai, Hideki has proven incapable of learning how to utilize the chakra sabre technique, meaning that he wields a full length katana as opposed to the standard issue wakizashi. ► Mental Assessment► likes- Tea

► Background Information22 SHJ - The year that Hideki was born. His parents were both low ranking Samurai who had met each other during a joint training session between squads and had quickly fallen in love. But shortly after Hideki's birth, orders came that a Bijuu was rampaging near Tetsu no Kuni and it needed to be suppressed before it destroyed the nearby villages. Both of his parents were deployed along with their squads to stop the beast, but neither of them ever returned.
Unwilling to raise a child, the friend that the couple had left Hideki with passed him off to an orphanage that took in children with the intent of building them into loyal Samurai once they grew older.
28 SHJ - Shortly after Hideki's sixth birthday, the Director of the orphanage placed him with the older children so that his training could begin. It was simple at first, practicing basic forms and sword strikes with wooden toys. Then eventually they were moved up to Bokken, and once they mastered the use of those, they were pitted against each other for sparring practice. During those first sessions, Hideki lost... and lost... and lost some more. It seemed as though he had no talent for swordsmanship. The Director eventually lost patience with the boy and wanted to kick him out of the program as a waste of time. But, the Director's assistant had another idea. She suggested that they simply hand him over to a retired Samurai and let them do with the boy as they will. The Director agreed, and so Hideki was sent to live with a former Captain, Tatsushiro Sanosuke.
30 SHJ - Tatsushiro was a harsh, foul-mouthed man that had retired because he had lost an arm in combat with a Ronin. He insisted that he was still capable of fighting, and surprisingly, he was, but the military wasn't willing to keep a cripple on the payroll. But for all of his flaws, he wasn't cruel. He worked Hideki's fingers to the bone, both in training and with needlessly difficult chores, partially taking out some of his frustration on the boy and partially wanting to make a 'man' out of him. In doing so, Sanosuke discovered why Hideki had failed to succeed at the orphanage. There was certain aspects of skill that Hideki simply had zero talent in, such as chakra control. In response, the Director forced him to practice those skills he was failing at more and more, but there was no progress made, and so all of Hideki's skills suffered as a result. Instead, Sanosuke told the boy to completely forget all about charka and everything relating to it. The only thing he needed to do was hone his body, as that would be enough for him to learn how to preform Iaido. It was a fairly uncommon sword style as most samurai chose to learn how to utilize the chakra sabre instead of truly mastering the blade, but Sanosuke had been a master of Iaido himself, and so Hideki's training took a sharp turn from there on out.
33 SHJ - On Hideki's eleventh birthday, he went upstairs to rouse Sanosuke, excited to show the old man that he'd finally learned how to execute an iai strike, only to find his master's lifeless body laying in the bed. Sanosuke had passed away peacefully during the night, suddenly leaving Hideki alone in the world. His skill was already such that he would be capable of joining the Sammurai if he were to go to them now, but Sanosuke only owned one set of swords, none of which he'd presented to Hideki as his own. As such, Hideki made arrangements to have the swords buried with his master, and informed a good number of people in Sanosuke's passing in hopes that they would attend whatever small funeral procession he could put together, but all he found was that most were either glad or apathetic to Sanosuke's parting. He was not a man with many friends. When the day finally came to bury the man, Hideki was the only person in attendance.
Sanosuke had never had any children or tied the knot, so all of his worldly possessions were inherited by Hideki. Of course, this basically just amounted to a fairly run down house. With no ties to this village, he sold the house for a fair price and left to buy a sword of his own with it. There was only one shop in town that carried weapons, but when he arrived, the shopkeeper told him that all of their swords were old and low quality; the village's only blacksmith had killed himself under mysterious circumstances a few years prior, and they hadn't had a replacement since. A particular sword caught Hideki's eye that was hidden behind the counter, only the very tip of the tilt sticking out.
The shopkeeper quickly shook his head and told Hideki that that sword was not for sale. When he inquired as to why, the shopkeeper told him that he planned on having the sword melted down and destroyed. It was the last sword the blacksmith had ever made, and anyone who took it for themselves would eventually end up either going on a killing spree and have to be put down, or they succumbed to the blade's curse and took their own life as well. No matter who wielded the blade, it always ended up returning to this village soaked in blood. Hideki insisted that that was the sword he wanted, feeling as though the steel was calling to him. The shopkeeper refused and threw Hideki out of his store.
34 SHJ - After a full year of prodding and persuasion, the shopkeeper finally relented and decided to give Hideki the sword. Unfortunately, the mere cost of living had almost completely eaten away at the money he'd gotten for selling the house, not leaving him enough to buy the sword. When he told the shopkeeper, the man simply shook his head and handed over the sword, saying that taking on the curse was price enough. Besides, Hideki would soon meet his grisly fate and the blade would return to the shopkeeper soon enough; the man was sure of it. True enough, when Hideki drew the sword a few inches out of the scabbard to look at the blade, he could feel the sword almost pulsing in his hands. He quickly sheathed the sword and slid the scabbard into his belt, heading back to prepare for the journey to Tetsugakure. The supplies took what was left of his money, but Hideki still felt confident as he left his hometown, traveling to the North.
About a month later, Hideki finally arrived at his destination, the Samurai headquarters. After he explained where he'd come from, the Samurai in charge of recruitment checked the register for the orphanage and noticed that Hideki had been kicked out for his lack of talent. He told Hideki that he was refused entry into the military, but the boy insisted, demanding a chance to prove himself. The man sighed and summoned a Lieutenant, fully donning the Samurai's famed armor, and told Hideki that if he could defeat the officer, then he would be permitted entry. They both took their positions and readied themselves, Hideki not taking any stance in particular to keep the officer off guard. It seemed to work, because the Lieutenant's stance was lax and loose... he didn't take Hideki seriously at all. But when the recruiter signaled for the fight to start, Hideki immediately dashed forward and grabbed his sword, preforming a quick iai strike. Utterly surprised by the movement, the Lieutenant didn't react quickly enough to block or evade the attack as the sword cleaved through his side as if it were warm butter. But there wasn't a single drop of blood, either on the man or on the blade.
But when Hideki flicked his sword to stealth it, a common iaido habit, blood was released from the tip of the blade and splattered onto the floor, returning it to a steel gray color as he placed it back into it's scabbard. By this time, the other man's wound finally started to bleed, causing him to drop to his knees, clutching at the gash in his side. The recruiter quickly called for a medic, and the Lieutenant was taken away to have his injuries treated. Being able to preform an iai strike with such speed and power that the wound's effects aren't felt until some time after the initial cut was the sign of an Iaido Master- which the recruiter recognized, quickly accepting Hideki into the third division after his display of skill. Of course, he wasn't truly that skilled with the technique just yet- it had been the sword. It consumed the blood that had started to gush out of the wound, making it appear as though the effect was delayed...
35 SHJ - By the time Hideki was thirteen, he had finished the probationary period and was a fully fledged Private, being presented with his armor on his promotion. He quickly put it on in excitement, choosing to wear it constantly to any and all events to show off until the point where his squadmates had to pin him down and strip the armor off of him to get him to shower without it on. He did eventually grow out of that habit, but continued to take his sword with him wherever he went regardless. The shopkeeper hadn't lied- Hideki could feel some dark force contained within the blade. He couldn't afford to let it out of his sight, because he couldn't trust anyone else not to succumb to the blade's corrupting influence.
But, Hideki's relationship with his squad and zealous support of the military eventually lead to his promotion to squad leader near the end of his first year as a full Private. The previous squad caption was promoted to Lieutenant, leaving the position open. It was left open to a vote within the squad, and Hideki was chosen. After this, Hideki's attitude changed ever so slightly, becoming a bit harsher in an attempt to fulfill his role as squad captain.
38 SHJ - Hideki's promotion to Lieutenant. One of his squadmates suddenly ran off from his post, fleeing into the night. When Hideki learned of this, he set out as well, quickly tracking the squadmate down. He questioned the boy as to his motives, and the boy admitted to wanting to defect to one of the ninja's hidden villages. He explained that life as a samurai was dull and unsatisfying because they were too set in the 'old ways', while the shinobi were the way of the future. He was convinced that Tetsu no Kuni would eventually crumble if it continued on it's present course. Hideki told the boy that saying such things were treasonous, to which the boy shouted that he didn't care and tried to attack Hideki, demanding freedom. Almost purely on reflex, he drew his sword and slew the boy in a single stroke of the blade.
When he realized what he'd done, Hideki turned the boy onto his back, taking the boy's blood-flecked sword and leaving his body there to rest before returning to the village. Hideki explained what had happened to his Captain, perhaps leaving out a few parts and embellishing others to make it seem as though killing the boy was absolutely necessary, and presented the boy's sword as proof of the deed. The Captain promoted Hideki to Lieutenant, citing this last incident as one of many acts of loyalty, courageousness, and the ability to get things done that Hideki had displayed over the years.
40 SHJ - Eventually, Hideki's Captain retired due to his advanced age, and recommended Hideki be his replacement despite his youth. Hideki questioned the Captain, but the man insisted that he'd more than proven that he had what it takes, as evidenced by his rapid climb through the ranks. After reviewing his history, the Daiymo agreed with the Captain's assessment, promoting Hideki to Captain of the Third Division at the age of only nineteen. There were some who suspected foul-play, unwilling to accept that someone so young could be legitimately accepted as Captain, but none came forward to officially voice their suspicion. But shortly after the promotion, as Hideki was leaving the Daiymo's quarters, he heard the muffed voices of the Daiymo and another man talking. Although under most circumstances he would have simply pushed it out of his mind and left, Hideki's curiosity got the better of him and he listened in on the conversation by pushing his ear against the door.
They were talking about him. The man asked if Hideki could be manipulated or bribed, and the Daiymo simply laughed off the question, saying that the reason he'd chosen Hideki in the first place was that he was fiercely loyal to the system, to the point where he wouldn't bother questioning an order as long as it came from the top. He wanted to hear more, but when he heard the sound of footsteps approaching the door from the other side, he fled the scene to avoid being caught. As he would later learn, the man the Daiymo was speaking to was none other than Ryuzen Hatchi, a fairly famous Ronin with a quick temper and bloody past. The Daiymo had been working with such criminals for a long time, gathering as much money and power as he could manage...
41 SHJ - There came a time when the Daiymo finally decided to 'test' Hideki. He asked the man to take a small group of Samurai into a nearby village and 'nicely ask' them to pay a bit more for their taxes this month, because they were running a bit short and if the Samurai weren't properly funded, then they couldn't be expected to provide protection, could they? But Hideki saw through the Daiymo's scheme. He knew the village was a poor farming town and couldn't afford to give a single Ryo more on top of what they already payed, and he also knew that the military had more than enough money to continue operating; as he'd seen the records prior to the meeting. The Daiymo dismissed Hideki and called in a different officer, one that would agree to his order.
Some time later, the Daiymo called Hideki into his office and ordered that he head into a nearby village to collect some money and materials that were owed by a particular group that had their hands in gambling and prostitution. Hideki mentioned that such vices were outlawed in Tetsu, but the Daiymo demanded that he obey. Hideki refused, and left the office without another word. It pained him to disobey a direct order, but as the Daiymo's corruption became more and more apparent, it was obvious that something had to be done.
It wasn't long before the Daiymo summoned Hideki for a third time. His request was another unreasonable one, and Hideki refused yet again. This time, however, the Daiymo threatened Hideki directly, saying that he would come to severely regret his decision if he denied the Daiymo's will again. And for a third time, he simply turned and left the office without a word.
42 SHJ - Hideki was called into the Daiymo's office yet again. This time, the Daiymo simply asked Hideki to take a battalion of Samurai and have them march to the west to a small forest. Hideki asked what the purpose was, but the Daiymo refused to tell him, simply saying that he was to move his troops to the west and then await further orders. Exasperated, Hideki obeyed, not seeing how this could be twisted into compromising his morals.
A few days later, Hideki was informed that all fifty Samurai had been slaughtered by a group of Ronin led by Ryuzen, and that Hideki himself was under investigation. When asked why he ordered the battalion into that vulnerable position and told them to hold there for orders that never came, Hideki couldn't come up with an answer. After all, the Daiymo had refused to explain the order to him. But that was when it clicked. The Daiymo was trying to get rid of Hideki, discredit him and have him locked away so that he could hire yet another Captain, hopefully one that would serve as his patsy. Hideki grit his teeth when he realized what the Daiymo had done. Even the lives of fifty innocent, loyal soldiers were nothing compared to the Daiymo's greed. Hideki quickly knocked out the two Samurai that had come to arrest him pending investigation and left his home within the village. He ran straight to the Daiymo's chambers to find the man sleeping peacefully alongside his wife. A red haze flooded Hideki's vision as he grabbed the hilt of his sword, slowly pulling it free...
When Hideki returned to his senses, he realized that his head was filled with an incessant wailing. He turned his head slightly and realized that the sound was coming from a woman huddled up in the corner, sobbing as she cradled the severed head of her husband. His gaze returned to the scene before him, blood splattered across the bed, the walls, and his own clothes. It seemed that the only clean object in the entire room was his sword, which had turned a deep crimson... The sword had taken advantage of Hideki's rage and sent him into bloodlust, causing him to butcher the Daiymo in his own bed for his crimes. Just after he realized what had happened, the door was kicked in as a Lieutenant entered the room. The woman screamed that Hideki had killed her husband, and the Samurai quickly used the helmet's built-in communicator to relay that information across the village. Hideki cursed and struck the Samurai down, making sure to inflict a non-lethal but debilitating injury. Even though he had just slain the Daiymo, Hideki was still loyal to the village, and the country. He couldn't bring himself to drag innocent bystanders into this, especially when their goals were the same. And so, Hideki fled the village, avoiding Samurai when he could and non-lethally subduing them when he could not. By the time he finally managed to escape the village, he was covered in blood- some his own, most not.
44 SHJ - Two years following his assassination of the corrupt Daiymo, Hideki learned much about the world. He no longer has an intense hatred of ninja- although the distaste for 'cowardly' techniques like Ninjutsu still exists. Mostly, he traveled as a wandering Ronin, assisting those in need when he could. Even though he was no longer a part of Tetsu no Kuni, he still felt the need to follow the code of the Samurai. Some Samurai had come to claim his head for his crimes, but Hideki would never kill them. A policy that lead to him being unnecessarily injured more often than not. He still hopes that one day he will be able to clear his name, but until then, this Ronin knows no home...
