NOTES 390/2500 i've been a bad, bad girl ♥ what i need is a good defense 'cause i'm feeling like a criminal Iku was glad to be rid of that damnable nobleman at long last. Not only was the man obscenely rich and not afraid to flaunt it, which certainly got on the nerves of someone who had basically had to provide for herself through missions for the past four or so years, but he was dumber than a sack of bricks and it had taken all of her willpower to stop herself from introducing him to the business end of Kubikiribouchou. Never had she been so relieved as when she got him through the door of his fancy home. At least he paid well for his safety. The payment for this mission would add a substantial amount to her savings.
This mission hadn't even been exciting. There had been a total of one scuffle between the chunin and a few bandits that had ended - as one might expect - with a couple of bandits missing some important body parts. She hadn't even gotten any blood on her, come on, it was a pathetic fight and in no way satiated her desire to shed blood. If only she could have killed the client and not gotten in trouble... But that wouldn't have been a satisfying kill either. Bah. Where was all the fun at?
And now, to make things worse, she was stuck in the bloody endless desert that was Kaze no Kuni. Sand, sand, more sand, sand dunes, oddly shaped sand dunes, and sandstorms. That was all this fucking barren as hell country was. Why on earth anyone would want to live in this hellish place was a mystery to the teen, who swore at the vast desert, got sand in her mouth, and then returned to swearing. God, this was the worst thing. "I will never come anywhere near this foul country ever again." she muttered under her breath.
There wasn't even anywhere good to stop and take a break! It was all. Just. Sand. If she happened upon any desert wanderers, they were going to die slow, painful deaths - that was how fed up she was with this horrid place. Not to mention it was hotter than hell during the day and fucking absolute zero at night, which was quickly approaching.
"I could go the rest of my life without seeing another fucking grain of sand." |

A loud crash resounded from within the mortician's shop as something made of either clay or glass, was thrown across the room to the opposite wall where it shattered and caused whatever was on the shelf that it hit to fall off of the wall and crash and or clatter to the floor. This caused more glasses and clay pots to be broken along with the scattering of several tomes on the human anatomy. Really, today was not his day.
Three separate corpses he had experimented with. He wanted to make them eternally beautiful. He wanted to preserve them ever so perfectly, frozen in time, however he failed. Three separate times he failed, and each time yielded a different result. Bloody mush, Ash and bone fragments, and fine ashen dust. It was frustrating to say the least, that he still couldn't seem to perfect his technique. He had done it so well with the snow maiden, so why couldn't he do it here? Was it because he was trying to perform the technique before removing the bodily organs? That could perhaps be part of the issue, but then why did it exactly work when the organs were removed before hand? The technique is supposed to preserve the body in the most perfect, eternally youthful, state, so why couldn't this be done without marring up the skin with scars?
The mortician shook his head. It was a hurdle he would have to find some way to climb. That is if he wanted to achieve his goal of making his brother and children eternal, and perhaps some day, when death would finally come to claim him, even himself. "Something that can be used in a moment's notice. That is what I need to develop, however..." The mortician's gaze shifted to look across the room to where the shattered mess lay as if an annoying thorn in his side, "Just like glass it seems the human body is simply too fragile. However, perhaps..." He folded his arms across his chest and cocked his head to the side in thought, as he did this his tresses fell over his shoulders and his bangs fells ever so perfectly revealing his single golden emerald orb. "I'll need to investigate some Kinjutsu then," a spoke quietly to himself as a sly smile played across his lips. "But before that, let's clean up."
It took the mortician no longer than an hour to completely clean up the mess in his shop. Due to the sheer amount of broken glass that had scattered everywhere, the shelf that needed to be fixed, and all of the tomes that must be reorganized. However once he had finished cleaning up shop he then turned to the three urns that rested on the front desk. He could not simply allow the remains of his research to remain in his shop. He needed to dispose of them. Erase all of the evidence of foul play as was necessary for him to remain out of the suspicious gaze of the Bunraku and inevitably the Kage.
This was what lead the mortician to travel all the way out here into the desert dunes. He carried with him the three urns that within he had hidden the various remains of his various guests. He carried the remains far out into the vast desert of solitude where he would be certain that no one would ever find them, before he would bury them in the dunes. It took the desert no time at all to cover up their trace as sandy winds deposited their riches onto them. Hell he even stood by and watched as nature did that work for him. However, as he moved to leave something caught his attention. A faint whisper on the wind. Obviously another sentient being. Perhaps a shinobi.
Raising his guard, the mortician immediately went into stealth mode and began to sneak around the larger sand dunes towards the location of where he heard the voice originate. It wouldn't take his mismatched hues to rest their fading sight upon a fellow ivory haired shinobi, although this one happened to be a female. Crouched low near a large sand dune, the black shrouded shinobi held a hand to the desert floor as the other reached back for a scroll. He could tell nearly immediately, mostly thanks to the large sword on her back, that this one was not a friendly shinobi. She would likely prove to be an enemy, however if she was, then she was out of her element being so far from what the mortician assumed to be her home of the land of water.
However, a moment of inspiration soon hit the mortician. She looked young. Far too young to be of any real danger to the mortician, despite the large blade she carried. Perhaps he could have some fun with this one. So he'd use the Shunshin technique to bridge the distance between them and appear behind her where he would then attempt to wrap his arms around her. 748/2500 i've been a bad, bad girl ♥ what i need is a good defense 'cause i'm feeling like a criminal Did this desert ever end? She felt like she had been traveling through the dunes for an eternity already, and with her kind of shitty luck, she still had more than half of the desert left to traverse. Hell. On. Earth. I know one place I'm never going to go on vacation. It didn't help that her clothes were a little more revealing than usual - due to the heat of the Land of Forest, she's dropped a couple of layers and was only dressed in her white undershirt and short skirt. At least, until the sand started being a bitch and she'd had to fish her long-sleeved top out of her pack. Honestly, being fashionable could be such a pain in the ass.
She sighed and trudged on. Honestly, she wasn't even sure she was walking in the right direction anymore. She didn't think she'd gotten turned around, but with the only features being sand and more sand, she couldn't even begin to tell.
Iku's mind began to wander, thinking of how she'd greet Fuku when she got back - she'd had to leave on this mission before he came back from his vacation, so she hadn't been able to see him the day he got back, unfortunately for her (and her libido) - and just how she would be greeting him, ehe. Oh, the joys of having a sex life.. Well, kind of, anyway.
But that wasn't the point. The point was, someone had snuck up on her while she was lost in thought, and he probably wasn't friendly. Eh?!" She froze when she felt the man put his arms around her, for one long moment barely daring to even breathe. She looked back to see an ivory-haired man, not quite a foot taller than her, with a wicked grin on his face. "I'm trying to navigate this bloody desert. It's not working very well." she muttered in response. "You've got about thirty seconds to let go of me and fuck off before you meet the business end of Kubikiribouchou." |

Oh? So she was indeed hostile, but then again when some random stranger came out of no where and wrapped his arms around her, of course she would be hostile. She even threatened to end his life then and there with something named Kubikiribocho. The Mortician assumed she likely meant the large blade she had on her back. The blade that was currently pressed between herself and him. "My my, so hostile, so scary, but..." He quickly released her spinning as he side stepped around her meanwhile spinning a chakra thread off from his finger and attaching it to the hilt of the large blade attached to her back, "I don't believe that'll be happening any time soon." A flick of his finger would command the blade to go take flight. Command it to take a vacation in a sand dune somewhere.
"I told you didn't I. You're out of your element here, but then again." He didn't care if she was hostile, he leaned in close to her, wrapping a chakra thread with a different finger than before, loosely around her neck, so loose she likely wouldn't take notice, "I could perhaps show you out of this desert," he whispered before stepping back to avoid any instinctual actions from her. Oh if only she knew what was going through his mind right then and there. Heh, she would likely be turning fifty shades of red if she knew, or maybe, she'd scream. Hell, like that'd do her any good, they were miles away from any civilization, and only a fool would travel through the vast desert of solitude if they were an outsider. Hell not even natives of Suna usually did it. "That is unless you want to be lost in the dunes for all eternity." Made by Tosuke of BTN Chakra: 68% Words: 297 Notes: 1153/2500

1056/2500 i've been a bad, bad girl ♥ what i need is a good defense 'cause i'm feeling like a criminal He did seem to have a brain - or, at least, enough sense to release the angry Swordsman from his embrace, What he did next, though... Well, arguably, it was the smart thing to - getting her most dangerous weapon away from her - but hell, he sent it flying through the dunes without even touching it! That was some crazy shit right there. "How in the hell..." She spun around and glared at him. "Alright, so you want to get your ass kicked the old-fashioned way. I'm just as capable without my blade as with it." Was she being needlessly hostile to someone that didn't really seem all that unfriendly? Well, probably, but you could never be too careful. If he was a shinobi - and, with that trick he'd pulled, and the fact that he'd been able to sneak up on her so easily, she had to assume he was - then he might just want to get close and then slit her throat. Although, one might argue that facing one of the Swordsmen of the Mist head-on was kind of foolish...
She nearly lashed out at him when he leaned in close again, evident by the fact that she'd started to move before reigning in her anger and instinct. It didn't seem like he wanted to kill her - not yet, anyway - and he was actually offering to help her get out of the endless desert. While she didn't trust him - she'd have to be a total idiot to do that - he offered a better chance of getting out of this hell than continuing to wander around did. Iku sighed. "I guess I could use some help." she muttered, crossing her arms over her chest. "Although, I swear - the second you make a move against me, you're a dead man." |

"Kick my ass?" Nazo laughed at this comment. He laughed such a creepy little laugh that would possibly unnerve the buffest of buff men. "I'm sorry darling, but you're out of your league with me. For I can slit your throat without actually touching you should I choose to." He was speaking the truth, he didn't need to touch her, especially when he could manipulate her own broadsword like a puppet and make it swing as though wielded by a ghost of a master. "But I don't intent to. In fact I was hoping that we wouldn't have to be so hostile towards each other. After all, Suna and Kiri are not at war, so why would we be hostile?" He held out a shrouded hand towards the girl that would then bring back her broadsword, "Now then, I'll return this to you in good faith that you won't attempt to use it to.... ehe... do something foolish." He then lowered his arm and the sword plummeted towards the sandy dune five feet from them. As it did so he turned away and began to walk. It was up to her really to follow him or not, however, he would not wait for her.
"Darling, I wouldn't think of doing anything to harm you, however, you will owe me for this little favor I'm doing you, and I'm not exactly patient when it comes to receiving payments on debts." That was all the warning he would give her before he continued to walk on ward towards the eastern horizon and inevitably the land of water. "Nii-san," he spoke quietly to no one in particular, "tonight should be a good night."

NOTES 1412 i've been a bad, bad girl ♥ what i need is a good defense 'cause i'm feeling like a criminal His laughter was unnerving. Actually, everything about him was a little unnerving. Instead of showing that he was freaking her out a little, Iku channeled her feelings into anger and hostility, even though it didn't seem like he intended to harm her. But he was a shinobi from a different village, and they weren't exactly known for being friendly to each other no matter the circumstances. "Really now?" That was her only comment on the matter of who was out of whose league - well, she did mutter something foul under her breath, but he probably couldn't make out the words. "Just because we're not at war, that doesn't necessarily mean we can be friends." Nor did he really have a good reason to want to be friendly with her - she imagined that most people would want to kill her, take her sword, and dump her body somewhere, actually, which was probably a more realistic outcome than friendship.
She did feel a lot safer after she had retrieved her broadsword from the sand dune and put it back in its rightful place on her back. "I'm a lot of things, but I'm not a fool." Did that mean she wouldn't try anything? Well, so long as he kept his hands off her she really wouldn't have a reason to hurt him, would she? Despite every contrary instinct telling her to slice his head off and leave him to the buzzards, she realized that without him leading her out of this barren slice of hell she would be lost for a very long time.
"...and what, exactly, do you want in return for this favor?" If it was something like money, well, that would be manageable. And really, she couldn't think of anything else it might be, because he certainly wasn't getting her sword or Kiri secrets or whatever else might come to his mind that she was less than willing to give. "So long as it's something reasonable, I won't have any issue with repaying you for getting me out of this sandy hell." |

As he walked he folded his arms across his chest under his flowing black cloak. Every now and then his eye would flick towards the sky to check on the status of how much time they had before night fall, "If you're thinking I want anything of significant value or possession, you're wrong. I don't care for your money, or sword." He left that to sink in for a while as he fell into silence while they walked. He knew just what he desired from her, however, he didn't quite understand quite well why he desired that exact thing from her. After all, he hadn't even really desired it from his lover ever since the deaths of his kids, so why her? Why now?
They walked with Nazo remaining silent for the next hour or so before the mortician stopped suddenly holding up a scar marred hand to tell her to do the same. "Hold up. Do you feel that?" He looked around their surroundings really quickly noticing a small canyon near by. Reaching back towards the Swords woman he held out a hand to her. "Quickly we don't have much time take my hand and follow my directions if you want to survive!" He could feel it against the bare skin of his face. The direction of the wind was rapidly shifting. A bad storm was coming.
If she took his advice and took his hand, he would quickly lead her to the near by canyon before jumping into it. It wasn't very deep, but fortunately there was a system of caves on the bottom most level. This would provide them shelter while the storm raged outside. "Sand Storms, unpredictable anomalies that occur in the desert. I've living in this region long enough to know when one is about to strike. To know when I can weather it, and to know when to run for cover. This one, will be one hell of a bad storm." He would then turn towards her in the darkness, and away from the mouth of the cavern, "We'll likely be here a while so I think now is as appropriate a time as ever to introduce myself. I am Ren Homma, or commonly referred to as Nazo." Made by Tosuke of BTN Chakra: 64% Words: 374 Notes: 1807/2500

NOTES 1763 i've been a bad, bad girl ♥ what i need is a good defense 'cause i'm feeling like a criminal If he didn't want anything of monetary value, then what the hell did he want? Iku was uncharacteristically silent as she contemplated this. What else did she even have to give him? The lack of conversation, and the long walk with nothing to look at but sand dunes, didn't make for anything interesting enough for her to pay attention to, so she had quite a while to think about it. Every now and then, she would cast a glance at the ivory-haired man, as if he would suddenly forget about being nice and jump her any second. Her paranoia wasn't completely justified, being that the most threatening thing he had done was temporarily relieve her of sword (and then gave it right back) and he wasn't showing any signs of aggression. Eventually, she spoke. "..you ever going to tell me what you want, or are you going to make me guess?" she asked, heavy sarcasm bleeding into her tone.
Other than that their silence was unbroken for what seemed like an eternity in the endless desert, but couldn't have been more than maybe an hour or two. And then he stopped short, and she nearly ran into his extended arm before she stopped. "What's wrong?" She didn't feel anything out of the ordinary. Of course, she didn't live in the desert, and thus wasn't attuned to it. Obviously he was, and he sensed something he didn't like. Iku didn't hesitate to take his hand and follow him to the canyon; if he thought it was a matter of life and death it probably was... And that was just her luck too, to be stuck in a desert when it was about to unleash its rampage.
"A sandstorm.. sounds shitty. Much less fun than a rainstorm." she muttered under her breath. Of course, a freaking sandstorm. This day just refused to get any better, didn't it? Fuck the desert. Just... Just fuck it.
"Nice to meet you, Nazo... I suppose. My name's Yasui Iku. Just Iku is fine." |

"Indeed they are, but then again I don't like the rain either." The darkness that stretched out with its diabolic fingers toward them from the belly of the cave drew closer and closer as the light from the sun above became more and more obscured by the gathering sand particles in the air. Soon enough a turbulent whirlwind could be heard howling across the desert like a mournful wail from some widowed woman. "Sandstorms always bring with them memories that were once buried. They remind me of the first war. They terrorize my every thought process, but then, I think to myself. Sandstorms are useful." He held his hands onto his ivory haired head as he spoke of his torment, before releasing their grasp upon realizing the usefulness of sandstorms. "They can cover up many things. Corpses. Buildings.... ehe... Failed research projects."
He lowered his arms bringing them across his body and hugging them tight against his chest with his fingers wrapping around the opposite bicep/tricep. "They can even cover up sound with their mournful wails. Shhh, listen." He fell silent allowing the wails of the desert to echo through the cave, "hear it? Because of those wails. No one will hear you." He looked up towards the canyon entrance, as he did so his hair fell away from his face revealing quite well his widened eyes paired with the diabolic grin that screamed of his lack of sanity. "So scream. Scream loud, oh so painfully loud. You've been trapped in this desert with a murderer."
His voice soon fell quiet. The wails of the desert echoed through the cave as light continued to fade from existence soon enough leaving the pair in nothing but darkness. "Iku, haven't you thought about it? What could I, Sabaku no Shinigami, want from you to pay for your debt?" His voice echoed in the darkness, bouncing back off of the walls and seemingly amplifying before fading away after several moments. "What could you possibly offer me?" His voice became almost a hiss as he spoke that time, however now he whispered into her ear having closed the gap between them in the darkness while the echoes disguised his footsteps. NOTES 2084 i've been a bad, bad girl ♥ what i need is a good defense 'cause i'm feeling like a criminal "I personally love the rain. It's one of my favorite things, actually." Iku commented. It wasn't likely that he would care all that much, but since they were on the topic she figured it couldn't hurt to give him a little factoid about herself. Heh, he was certainly talkative enough, wasn't he? "...and I suppose you have some sort of pressing need to hide corpses and failed research projects, don't you?" she surmised dryly. Of course she would have to get stuck in the middle of the desert with a brutal sandstorm going on with a guy that probably belonged in the loony bin. Great. The wonderful things about this day would just never end, would they?
"... You're starting to sound like the crazy murderers in those cheap horror flicks, y'know." She put on a brave - and rather sarcastic - face, but at the same time she was a little unsure of where she stood with this man. She was pretty sure that if he had wanted to kill her, he wouldn't have wasted time on pleasantries. But, then again - he sounded pretty crazy, and god knows you can't predict what a crazy person would do. "Great. This day just can't get any better."
"You're crazy. How am I supposed to know what you want?" she asked crossly, glaring in his general direction. This sandstorm had better end soon, or she might well try to introduce him to the business end of Kubikiribouchou, no matter his thoughts about her strength versus his. She couldn't help but flinch and swear when he whispered in her ear, though she tried not to show the fact that she'd been shaken. "A gaping stomach wound? But I'm pretty sure you don't want one of those, so no, I have no idea. Stop trying to be dramatic and spit it out already." |

At her threat she would be able to her him chuckle before he pulled his finger towards himself tightening the thread of chakra that wrapped itself around her neck taut. "My darling, what I want is no thing, but some one." He whispered into her ear, his voice full of hints of lust. "I'll lead you out of this desert, and perhaps become you're greatest ally in Suna, no matter how much you may despise me, but first... I want something from you." He pulled the string tighter around her neck, "So scream my little swords woman, because I won't take a no for an answer."
What was it that made him crave such a forbidden fruit? Surely man was able to resist such temptations yet they still called out to his mind. They still carved their way into the deepest reaches of his mind. Still made him crave the forbidden. He had thought that he had satiated those odd cravings long ago. Back when he had first scraped the surface of the unknown and the forbidden. Mutilated a corpse and found himself over come with intense elation. When he had done the unsightly and invaded her. When he had stolen away the bodies of his children. Everything about him was unknown. It was forbidden. So why did he still crave even more forbidden things? Why did he want to have this strange woman?
Just why?
He pulled the chakra strings even tighter around her neck intending to drain every last bit of her strength away from her before he would begin to act upon his insidious intentions. "Why do you make me crave such a forbidden fruit?" His breath was hot and his voice almost seducing. Despite his threats he brought his non-manipulative hand up, placing it on her chin, "Tell me, what the hell are you to pull at the stings within my mind so?" He pulled his other hand back and upwards a small bit, maintaining the strength of the thread of chakra around her neck and seemingly intending to join another with it.

NOTES 2520 i've been a bad, bad girl ♥ what i need is a good defense 'cause i'm feeling like a criminal There was something about his laugh that sent shivers down her spine, that made her fear, just a little, what he might be capable of doing to her. She didn't move, just stared through the darkness at him, watching, waiting. The thread she hadn't known was there tightened around her throat, shock clearly evident on her features. Perhaps he was out of her league after all - either he had put the thread on her earlier and she hadn't noticed, or he'd somehow done it right in front of her eyes and she'd missed it. Either way it was more than a little unnerving.
He spoke again, hints of an emotion she was all too familiar with bleeding through into his tone. And suddenly she thought she knew exactly what he wanted from her, which was something she did not want to give to anyone... with one obvious exception. But this man, this Sabaku no Shinigami - not only was he a stranger and probably more than twice her age, but she didn't trust him not to try anything funny... And besides, who demands sex in return for something as simple as leading a person out of the desert? Crazy guys, apparently. God knows he couldn't ask for something reasonable.
She stewed in her own angry thoughts, glaring at him as the strings tightened around her neck. Was it really necessary to make it hard for her to breathe? Really, it wasn't like she could run away, unless she wanted to get fucked up by the vicious sandstorm - which was a definite no. Of course, he probably wanted power over her - he didn't want the sandstorm to be keeping her here, he wanted himself to be responsible for that... Or some fucked-up logic like that, anyway.
Iku knew she was attractive. Actually, no - Iku knew she was damn fine and wasn't afraid to tell people how highly she thought of herself. Even the normally stoic Fuku hadn't been able to resist the temptation. But was she really attractive enough that a strange Suna shinobi wanted to do her, just out of the blue like that? Goddammit.
She supposed she didn't really have any option. He did have her trapped, and well - she would rather him fuck her than kill her, if it would come down to that. There wasn't any honor in offering her body as payment for a debt, but if that was the only thing he would accept...

By the small sounds and movements her body made, Nazo could tell it finally clicked in the deepest reaches of her mind just what he had been talking about this entire time. Not only that, but she abhorred the idea. The very idea of it seemed to go against her very being, and that much he could tell through body language alone. He pulled her chin up closer to him leaning forward until their lips were mere centimeters apart before he chuckled a more sincere chuckle and released her.
He let her fall back away from him as he back away from her. He released the chakra threads around her neck bit by bit so all of the air wouldn't come rushing back to her at once before he leaned back against the opposite wall. A more sincere smile was spread across his face now as his golden emerald orbs that seemed to glimmer even in this lack of light rested on the Kiri swords woman. "You pass." He chuckled, "Everything about you says you have respect for yourself. You aren't the type that goes around laying with every random person that you come across, and you're smart enough to know when you need someone's help. Ehehe. I may be insane but I'm not an idiot. Iku, I know you hate me right now, but just know this. If you ever find yourself in Kaze no Kuni again you'll have an ally in me. Even if our villages happen to go to war, I don't go back on my word. I would rather assist you then the very village that serves to be my cage."
Nazo sighed, "However I won't lie, at least not now. Most of what I said moments ago was all an act. I was testing you to see if you would be one of those types that jump at an opportunity should it present itself. I'm glad to see, or rather sense, that you're not. You're a respectable swords woman of Kirigakure and I am more than glad to say I'm happy I met you, Iku." Nazo gave a somewhat heartfelt chuckle now, "However, could you do me one favor, I know this may be a bit much to ask now but... Please, call me by my actual name, Homma." He looked now out towards the mouth of the cave, "Iku, the sandstorm should be over soon. If you're still willing to trust me enough to follow me, then I'll still show you the way back to Mizu no Kuni." Made by Tosuke of BTN Chakra: 62% Words: 424 Notes: 2957 words total

NOTES 2851 i've been a bad, bad girl ♥ what i need is a good defense 'cause i'm feeling like a criminal He drew closer and closer, and to be honest, Iku would have liked to grab him by the hair and smash his face off the stone behind her. It'd be much more fulfilling than letting him take advantage of her over something stupid like this... And then he started laughing again, and oh, she had never wanted to punch anyone more than she wanted to punch him at that moment. "You think this is funny?" she hissed at him, eyes narrowed.
And then the thread around her neck loosened slowly, and she took in a deep breath, casting an odd glance his direction. "Oh, so you really did think this was funny. I'd like to poke lots of holes in your body now. Don't struggle, and perhaps I'll take it easy on you."
He began to speak again, cutting her off, and she sighed. "And why, precisely, did you think you needed to test me?" Make no mistake, she still wanted to stab him a bunch, but... It wasn't exactly a good idea to try murdering a Suna shinobi whilst in their country, and especially when he was probably the only way she would ever get out of this hellish place. "And I don't want an ally in you. I'd actually rather forget that we ever met."
He explained himself, and although she still really didn't see why it had been necessary - she grudgingly admitted that maybe she shouldn't think about poking lots of holes in him with Kubikiribouchou. "I'd say the same, Homma, but I'd be lying." After a long moment of silence, she nodded. "Being that I'm not likely to find my way out anytime soon without you... Yeah, I'd take you over the stupid desert any day, I suppose. But I swear to god, you come to close and there'll be another body for the sand to hide by the end of the day." |
